Advantages: Amazing food, friendly and professional staff, lovely rooms Disadvantages: £20 cab ride away from airport, sound proofing not as good as it could be
...with the person in my office that books the accommodation. They said to me, "I'll try and get you in to the City Inn" I thanked them, but at that point just had the impression it would be a fairly bog standard chain hotel. My manager enthused about the place though, saying the food was really good.
First Impressions
*********************
To get to the hotel from Glasgow airport is around a 20 minute cab ride. This costs between £18-£21 depending on traffic. On my first trip up the cab driver was very chatty and friendly, and I marvelled at the difference to the 'lovely' black cab drivers of London town. He kept me entertained the length of the journey. He did ask me why I'd chosen the City Inn and I told him that my company really liked it, and that the food was supposed to be good. He then told me he'd eaten there and thought it was...

Review of City Inn, Glasgow
Advantages: close to city centre Disadvantages: shower in bathroom hard to turn off and on
...tea and coffee making facilities there was a direct dial telephone, an internet connection point (cost of ?4 per hour) and a TV. The TV gets all the main Irish channels and the main BBC and ITV channels. The hair dryer is in one of the draws in the desk. The only thing lacking was that there was no safe in the room, but the hotel does have its hotel safe.
The en suite bathroom was clean and it was well set out for the size. The main problem here was that the shower was hard to turn off and on especially with wet hands. Also the extractor fan had no off setting but this was fairly quiet so it was not a major problem.
The hotel offers a laundry and dry cleaning service for clothes etc but as I did not use this service I didn't ask about the prices.
There are also vending machines on each floor but each floor has a different one (eg...

Review of Jurys Inn, Cork
Advantages: Cheap, presentable hotel, good location Disadvantages: Soulless, very noisy from outside
...Jurys Inn, Leeds is a reasonably priced hotel that is a 10 minute walk both from the train station and shopping centre of Leeds. We stayed here one weekend in August 09 and it cost us £60 per night for a room with a double bed and a sofa bed (though it would have been squashed with 3 of us).
We found the hotel clean and presentable, with reasonable facilities, but very soulless. The staff were polite, although reserved rather than warm. It is part of a chain of hotels, and I got the impression that probably every other hotel in this chain is exactly like this one.
Checkout was at 12, though you could extend this (at a price). The facilities in the room were fairly standard for a budget hotel chain - there was a fair selection of tea and coffee, a desk with internet connection point, a television with more channels than we could hope to...
Advantages: Great accomodation, great food, friendly and helpful staff Disadvantages: Closed from November to March
.... We had tea and coffee making facilities in our room and we also had an en-suite bathroom complete with bath / shower toilet, wash hand basin and so on.
The en-suite bathroom although small was comfortable and contained everything we needed including the usual complimentary toiletries and was also heavily decorated with mahogany panelling on the bathtub and a mahogany toilet sea and so on. The style and décor was very traditional and elegant throughout and best of all the whole place was spotless.
The Bar facilities
The hotel although a quiet country retreat in most respects has a bar which is open to both guests and locals throughout the season and has only just begun to hold entertainment evenings to try and generate more local interest and obviously business for the hotel. It is quite a small bar area but has a very...
Advantages: Close to the heart of Glasgow Disadvantages: None that I could see
...was very comfortable with a double bed and a double sofa bed. A point I must make was that the hair dryer was suprisingly powerful and hot!!!! There was also a telephone and a very trouser press.
************FACILITIES**************
Although we didn't need to use it , there is free parking at the hotel.
************FOOD***************
SUPERB !!! The breakfast was fantastic. You could have a full Scottish breakfast PLUS pastries, fruit and much more. We ate in the hotels 'Bibo Bar & Restaurant' for breakfast. They also do evening meals, although we didn't avail of this as we went into the centre each night.
************OVERALL***********
We absolutely loved this hotel. It would really suit anyone, from the ordinary shopper to the business person. The thing I must say that you need to leave a credit card as a deposit. If you don...

Review of Tulip InnHotel, Glasgow
Advantages: Friendly staff, clean Disadvantages: Pricey, can have a few problems
...My partner, daughter and I stayed at this hotel a couple of times when we go and visit the family up there.
From the outside the hotel looked beautiful and clean and looked really big, as soon as i stepped in the doors i was weary but the staff are all nice and always had a smile on their faces.
The hotel could do with a bit of a lift inside, the rooms wasn't as big as expected from the outside but was well furnished with all your little pieces ( trouser press, tea/coffee etc)
The restaurant was nice with all your traditional food, the waiters and waitresses all know what they are doing and don't mess around, there was one complaint on the next table about a steak wasn't cooked right and the waiter offered to change it straight away, The waiter then came back out and said the steak was all from the same bit lot and it will...
Advantages: Lovely location, excellent food and staff. Rooms were great. Disadvantages: A bit remote, Noisy shredder in the toilet.
...at a reasonable time in the morning (between 8 and 10) and there was a good selection of cereal, fruit and excellent cooked breakfasts including the usual full english with a choice of eggs, kippers, toast and jam etc.
The evening meal (which we paid extra for about £25 per head) Consisited of a selection of starters, mains and desert. Both our meals were absoultely amazing. The service was second to none and everything was clean and in a lovely setting. Perfectly fitting our reason for being there.
The rooms were decorated in a style fitting with the hotel and were clean, spacious and well - equipped. Our room was a double but there were other rooms with four poster beds and they were much bigger than ours. There was a kettle, tea coffee and biscuits, hairdryer, interestingly tuned tv (all the channels out of sinc) en suite bathroom...
...I booked the Jury's Inn (Glasgow) for myself and two friends as we were spending a weekend there for my birthday. I have booked it two years on the run now and will probably book it again next year.
It cost us £90 a night, which worked out at £180 for the Friday and Saturday night for three of us.
The booking was very easy to make and the website is extremely user friendly.
*****Location******
The drive upto Jury's Inn was very easy, as from Liverpool and its pretty much one motorway, but the hotel was also very easy to find and is right next to the bridge over the river on Jamaica Street.
The hotel is very close to the centre of Glasgow and we walked in each night, which takes around 5-10 minutes max. There are a variety of restaurants, pubs and fast food places to eat and drink around
every corner. You would not find...

Review of Jurys Inn, Glasgow
Advantages: Friendly, Clean, Comfortable Disadvantages: Not cheap, Located in the Busines District
...In September 2006 my boyfriend took me on a surprise holiday. We got up at 3am and headed off to the airport and I still had no idea where we were heading. With this in mind I?d packed clothes for every occasion. My boyfriend had told me I?d probably need a jumper, but didn?t go into much more detail. So when I got to the airport he handed me a package and when I unwrapped it I saw a guidebook to Iceland in my hands! I was sooo excited! I had an amazing time in Iceland and I thought I?d review the hotel we stayed in as I?ve read a few reviews online since and they seem rather unduly negative to me.
~~First Impressions~~
When we arrived in Iceland we caught a bus Reykjavik and they delivered us right to the door of our hotel. They asked where we were staying and my boyfriend said Park Inn Iceland ? we were soon corrected that...
Advantages: Good service, and amenities Disadvantages: A long way from anything
...Embassy Suites
On a recent visit to California, I was booked into this hotel because it was close to places I had to visit for work.
The hotel itself is only a short drive from the airport (it took about half an hour in a hire car, and not knowing where I was going) and is located in La Jolla which is apparently quite an affluent area, featuring banks and houses and hotels as well as restaurants and a rather nice shopping mall.
It's easy to drive into the hotel and should you ask for it there is valet parking in the high rise car park, but I just parked round the back of the hotel.
Once inside the hotel, check in was quick and efficient and I was immediately impressed with the well set out entrance lobby featuring some nice little touches such as plentiful flowers. The reception desk is large and well staffed and also in...
