...CASTLE LODGE It was a family day out in Ludlow and whilst I was sitting resting on the bench, waiting for my hubby to return from checking the car and the parking fees, I noticed this really old Tudor style house opposite and on closer inspection discovered that it was open to the public. We didn?t go in straight away, but I did drop a big hint like, ?I want to go in there before we go home? to the family, so that they would not be surprised after the visit to the castle that we went in here. After we had a lovely lunch in the café situated next door to the lodge after a amazing trip around the castle. Lovely lodges and amazing hot tubs!

Advantages: Nice lodges, fantastic hot tubs!
Disadvantages: Surrounding area not so good

...Drummohr Lodges are situated on the Firth of Forth, near Musselburgh, Scotland. The park is approx 8 miles from Edinburgh. I came across Drummohr Lodges while browsing through the Hoseasons brochure last year. I was looking for somewhere new to visit for a short break with my partner for his birthday in November, and having stayed in a few Hoseasons holiday parks previously and always finding them to be really nice, I didn't really want to look elsewhere. We do like to stay in lodges, preferably ones with hot tubs! So this was a particular requirement when looking through the various holiday parks in the brochure. Disney's Wilderness Lodge: Welcome Home

Advantages: A hotel brimming with personality and themed to perfection

...I'm a fan of Bill Bryson. I like his dry, acerbic wit, and the way he bombards the reader with lots of dry facts yet manages to still keep it entertaining. The latest book of his I read (although not the latest written), was Notes from a Big Country. As I said, delivering trivial facts and figures in an amusing fashion is Bryson's forte and when those facts are about the land of his birth (USA), and are compared then related to his once adopted homeland (UK), I can visualize him virtually drooling at the prospect. Pastures Lodge, We keep going back for more!

Advantages: Great family atmosphere, play areas, good choice of food
Disadvantages: Often very busy!

...The Pastures Lodge is a family pub/restaurant that my family and I have been visiting on a regular basis for a fair few years. Its situated on Pastures Road, Mexborough which is a few miles outside of Doncaster. We live quite near to the centre of Doncaster and it takes us about 15 minutes by car to get to the Pastures. The Pastures is owned by Paul Shane of Hi-De-Hi fame and occasionally he can be spotted propping up the bar. The main reason we visit the Pastures is for a family meal out at a place where the children can let off some steam. The Pastures has an indoor play area and a smaller outdoor play area. ...The Forest Lodge Hotel was built in 1820 and was used as a hunting box by King George IV. The hotel retains much of its Georgian architecture and stands in its own grounds. It is located on the outskirts of the village of Lyndhurst in the heart of The New Forest in Hampshire. It is part of a chain of 4 hotels that come under the banner of New Forest Country House Hotels. This means that each hotel can be centrally booked and have the same cost and promotions. The guests have use of the other hotels' facilities but this is not that relevant as, even though they are all in The New Forest, they are not exactly round the corner from each other and anyway the facilities are much the same in them all. CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL -acceptable accomodation

Advantages: cheap and cheerful
Disadvantages: not classy but perfectly adequate overnight, but bed not good

...CHELSEA LODGE HOTEL 268 FULHAM ROAD LONDON SW10 9EW 10 min walk from Fulham Broadway tube, same to Earls Court I stayed on Saturday 25 October 2008 because of its (reasonably) close proximity to Earls Court where I was attending an exhibition. There was another similar rated hotel behind the underground station but it was reported to be very noisy and I thought a 10 minute walk from hotel to destination would be refreshing, which it was. This hotel is on a busy main road on the corner of a junction, but inside the big old building you were not really aware of this.
