...After another argument with the little lady I was feeling stressed and in need of some TLC. "Right that?s it" I shouted, "We are going away for a night". To which she replied "where?? She had a point, i am only 21, I can?t drive and i am not rich in any way shape or form. Despite this I really needed a break from reality. The Christmas bonus had just been deposited into my bank account so I thought of the closest 4 star I could think of. "We are going to that big hotel on the Wroxham Road" said I not knowing the name at the time. So off we went, as we pulled down the seemingly endless drive from the main road I thought gosh this looks different to any hotel I had ever stayed in (i am more used to forte pothouses or similar!!). Sprowston Manor - Delightful Countryside Retreat

Advantages: Large, good facilities
Disadvantages: Somewhat expensive, suprisingly low standard of service

...I was fortunate enough to be invited by my girlfriend's father to Sprowston Manor to celebrate his 50th birthday. I must say that every aspect of the stay was absolutely fantastic and I would not have any hesitation in recommending this old manor house hotel to anybody. Upon arrival we were greeted at the door by a porter, who took our luggage into the lobby for us, and placed it upon a luggage trolley. After a slight delay at check in (as my girlfriends dad was wanting to pay using his Marriott loyalty card, and they didn't know how to do this!) we were on our way to our room, passing the swimming and sauna area on the way up. Stratford Manor A Tranquil Retreat

Advantages: Clean, friendly, child friendly, pets allowed, lovely environment
Disadvantages: Can get very busy with slow service and not all staff are very friendly

...Earlier this year we decided that it was time for a much needed break and what better place to spend it than in Shakespeare Countryside, Stratford Upon Avon? Having lived in Coventry which is in the West Midlands I am familiar with Stratford Upon Avon and how beautiful it is. The scenery there is lush and it is definitely Shakespeare Countryside. As well as being a local tourist attraction Stratford Upon Avon is also a quite part of the Country. After purchasing overnight accommodation from Lastminute.com I was set for my journey. ...Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year. It is a well known Hotel and Restaurant with a good local reputation. THE BACKGROUND From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building. The Hotel as you see it today has been extensively restored but it has been built around a 17th Century Manor House that once occupied the location. ...The school holidays are always a bit of a bugger. Where can you take children aged fourteen, eleven, nine and four and guarantee that they will all enjoy it? After much pondering and googling we decided that Drayton Manor was the only theme park within striking distance that seemed to have something for everyone. Not that one hour and fifty minutes is particularly within striking distance. It is one hell of a dull journey from Liverpool along the M6 and it came as a bit of a shock when we got to the M6 toll; Four quid each way the robbing buggers! Nonetheless, several pee and tea breaks later we arrived at Drayton Manor and the site really is quite expansive. Smack bang in the middle of Tamworth it is a huge park. Unfortunately, it is not particularly well set out on entry and the one lane queuing to park the car adds an extra ten...

...I have stayed at Aldwark Manor twice and on both occasions had a fantastic experience. The first time I stayed here was a surprise trip that Mr Lools booked for our 5 year anniversary. Because we had such a wonderful time we returned six months later for a weekend break and our second visit was just as good as our first. ***Location*** Aldwark Manor is located in Aldwark in North Yorkshire. The hotel is set in tranquil secluding grounds and has its own 18 hole Golf Course. The hotel is 13 miles away from York City Centre which takes around 30 minutes to drive, either by car or taxi. The nearest railway station is York City Centre The hotel is easy accessible by car and is a 10 minute drive once you have left junction 47 on the A1m. I was pleasantly surprised on how much the place had changed, so much more to see and do, the kids were just dying to be let loose on the big rides. ( So was my friend ). We went at the end of July i wasnt sure about going at this time of year as the schools were finishing and the starting of the summer holidays but we found on arriving that the queue,s to enter the park were pretty good ,not too long at all , all in all i think we were not even 10 minutes in line.
