...Many places in America must be contenders for the title 'The Home of Country' but for a country music fan going to the Hall of fame is like going home. There are the most amazing displays of artifacts, interactive music listening stations and a celebrity voiced audio tour to guide you through the history of Country from its beginnings to the present day. A word of warning about the later - it's well worth the money but if, as I tried to, you go from listening point to listening point, diligently punching in the numbers and trying to take it all in you'll only make yourself tired and frustrated. Take the advice of Vince Gill (who introduces you to the tour) and pick and choose which elements you listen to as you pass through the building. Amazingly, the galleries face onto the workspace for the archivisits at the museum...

Forty Minutes of Country Life

Advantages: Casanova and Prairie Rose
Disadvantages: Three and Nine and If It Takes All Night

...This album followed their best , "Stranded", but is still an excellent album containing some outstanding music. The same line-up (bar ever changing bassists, this time John Gustaffson) as "Stranded" is retained for this album, all the songs penned by Bryan Ferry either alone or collaboration with Mackay and Manzanera. Ever ones for playing on concepts, the album was named to evoke the moods of "Country Life" magazine. The cover contains a green tropical , Playboy type backdrop containg two models , who could have been plucked from the streets of Amsterdam's red light district, in a state of almost total undress, totally at odds with the title unless a very dodgy pun is intended. The models didnt appear on the American version of the album. There are two stand out tracks on this album. "Prairie Rose" is a Manzanera / Ferry...

...I love my Nintendo Wii and love playing new and different games on it. I recently played the Wii Music but unfortunately this was one game that I really did not like. Wii music was released in 2008 and allows players to simulate playing with real musical instruments. You use either the Wii remote or the nunchuk to play the instruments. THe disappointment for me was that the instruments were just not realistic enough. For example, I love Wii Sports because I think the tennis, bowling and actually all the games are really realistic and it feels like you are actually there playing the game. With the Wii Instruments it did not feel like you had a real instrument in your hands and also the Mii characters on the screen just did not react well to the movements. It was more of a chore trying to play the instruments and I gave up pretty soon...

As time went on and i began to buy my own records i tended to by singles for chart music but the Albums tended to be Rock 'n' roll and quite a collection of the Everlys. Other artists began to take my interest that were not modern and not Rock 'n' Roll. These were artists like Dolly Parton, Kenny Rogers, John Denver or Johnny Cash. So my biggest interest in Rock 'n' Roll was my early experience with the Everlys but my taste in music appeared to being pulled more and more towards Country. ...Would you be surprised to learn that Glasgow has over 70 parks within its city boundaries? It's not known affectionately as "Dear Green Place" for nothing. One of the largest parks is Pollok Country Park. Situated in the southside of the city, just three miles from the city centre, it was voted Best Park in Britain in 2007 and then went on to be crowned Europe's Best Park in 2008. It's a large park at over 360 acres, so even when the sun is splitting the sky (which does happen in Glasgow, you know!), it never feels crowded and you can always find a wee quiet spot for yourself. Academy of Country Music Awards Entertainer of The Year

...I don't think too many people this side of the Atlantic have heard of Carrie Underwood but for me, she is one of my favourite country artists. Carrie rose to fame in the fourth series of the American Idol television show which she won. Since then she has gone on to be very successful indeed. According to an article I read she is now a multi-platinum selling recording artist, a multiple Grammy Award winner, was inducted into the Grand Ole Opry, and is the reigning Academy of Country Music Awards Entertainer of The Year. I think it helps that she is also a very pretty young girl with an amazing voice.
