...Mann Countrywide offer a poor over-priced service to vendors they never return phone calls - do not give feedback from viewers or update you on what they are doing to sell your home! all in all they are lazy and seem to do as little as possible to sell your property! Having had a bad experience with them some 16 years ago like a fool I instructed them to sell our home back in july 07. they dropped our asking price by £40,000 and put us on the market for OIEO which brought in a few very low offers, as we thought it would.... they have killed any chance we have of selling our home this year and beating the HIPS package and charging. Do your homework before you sell with an agent listen to what others have to say about them - word of mouth is very good advertising.... at one point our house was advertised at the lower and original price...

Countrywide Property Lawyers review

Advantages: Reasonably priced
Disadvantages: Incompetant

...I had the misfortune of using Countrywide Property Lawyers earlier this year. They were recommended by the EA Miller Countrywide. The incompetance was outstanding! The paperwork required to complete was lost twice after confirmation of receipt by them. They sent copies of confidential documents for the property I was buying to my purchasers. They sent me copies of mortgage statements for people in Wales twice. When I asked them where copies of my mortgage statements had been sent they said it was impossible for them to be sent to other people and I 'must be mistaken' !!! My completion date was delayed three times because of their incompetance and I eventually exchanged and completed within 24 hours as my seller threatened to pull out. All in all an extremely stressful experience....

Countrywide Property Lawyers Avoid!!

...Very slow and frustrating to deal with. My wife and I were 1st time buyers and were pressured into using Countrywide Property Lawyers by Fulfords Estate Agents. It took 14 weeks to complete a simple purchase with no chain on either side of the transaction. I were chasing CWPL all the time asking for information that the call centre staff simply didn't know. I would not recommend them at all. The next time we move we will go into our local town and find a solicitor there. CWPL quoted one price then more searches were required and they would not proceed until they had been paid for them. I have since found out that some of the searches were not necessary. Sometimes I would be on the phone for 20 minutes before being answered. But as you are in a queuing system you are paying for the privillege. 2 weeks before we finally got to...

Advantages: Erm... they didn't smell too bad
Disadvantages: Takes advantage of the first time buyer! never calls - see below for rest of story...

Lee also managed to sell us "Countrywide Assured" buildings and contents insurance, even though the buildings insurance is included in the maintanence charges for the flat - we've only just found out, 2 years later - all that money wasted :`( And they never phone when they say they will - ever! I'll never again use them to buy or sell a property, and advise all first time buyers to take someone who has been through this process before when viewing properties/speaking to estate agents etc... and if they are told something which seems too good to be true, like wooden flooring, ask for it in writing!!! Then at least you have proof to complain if you need to....

Taking incompetance to new heights

Disadvantages: Oh my God, where do I start?

...I will do my best to review this company without resorting to bad language, breaking anything or throttling any cats. When we put our house on the market the estate agent persuaded us to use their 'in house' solicitors, who turned out to be Countrywide property Lawyers. THere have been great mistakes in history, let me list a few: King Harold, 1066 : "What Arrows?" Captain Smith of the Titanic 1912 : "What Iceberg?" Captain Cook 1740: "Don't worry, the natives are friendly" JeffFromPoole 2006: "OK, that sounds like a good idea, let's go for it." We were promised weekly updates, by letter and email, swift response to all our queries, efficient service and dedication, we got none of these, instead we got lies, evasion, delays, excuses and incompetance. Two weeks later they decided to move our purchase file up to the Manchester office to keep it together with the sale stuff so we had two weeks wasted and had to start again. But never mind. After this little hiccup everything was done within 4 weeks and we were all set to exchange and complete and they caught up on themselves. Then the problem came when the person who was purchasing my partners house, his solicitor was being extremely lazy and not returning any of our solicitor?s calls or messages. Nor was he in his office very much. He kept stating he would deal with the file tomorrow and tomorrow never came. Anyway about two weeks went on like this, which was the stressful part but I can honestly say that I believe Countrywide Property Lawyers...
