...I was fortunate enough last year to be able to go skiing to Courchevel in the French alps over Christmas. Well it's useful when you have a big sister who lives and works out there!!! I know how cold it can get while on the mountain and as I am prone to getting very dry and chapped lips I decided to try-out a Blistex product that I had not seen before. I have generally been delighted with most of their other items so trusting the brand I purchased Lip Splash Liquid Lip Moisturiser. The Product The manufacturers claim that this product can rehydrate and re-moisturise lips by soaking them in Lip Splash Liquid Balm. The balm is apparently full of deep, penetrating moisturisers, which leave the lips looking smooth and healthy. It also has a Sun Protection Factor of 15. Meribel Mottaret - a cut above

Advantages: Reliable snow, door-to-door skiing, huge terrain
Disadvantages: Expensive

...: cheese fondue is a perennial favourite, as is pierrade (cooking pieces of meat, vegetables and chicken yourself at your table on a hot stone), raclette (hunks of cheese which you melt on a special table-mounted grill and eat with boiled potatoes and charcuterie), and tartiflette (a delicious mixture of potatoes, lardons and cheese). Skiing facilities are superb. The modern lift system whisks you to all areas of the Meribel valley, as well as providing easy links over the top of the mountains into Courchevel on one side and Val Thorens/St. Martin de Belleville on the other. Even late risers like me can get to the Bel Air restaurant above Courchevel 1650 in plenty of time for lunch. Surely one of life?s great pleasures must be sitting on the restaurant terrace, in the warm winter sunshine, downing a steak-frites accompanies by a bottle...

SNOW BETTER PLACE TO SKI

...which is not great. Apres Ski This is not to bad, there are many pubs & clubs most of which are all next to each other. ? The Frog and Roast Beef has live music and a really friendly atmosphere, it is run by English people, and boasts to be the highest pub in Europe! ? Malaysia is also great for live music, and has a real atmosphere. Don?t be put off by the entrance (youll see what I mean) it turned out to be my favourite place to go. ? Le Monde was packed with people, many of whom were middle aged men, but if you don?t mind that its another good place to be. Val Thorens does not have the prestige of places like Courchevel, but it has the skiing unlike anywhere else on earth!...

Advantages: Guaranteed Snow / Amazing Ski Area/Great Apres Ski/Excellent Restaurants
Disadvantages: French School Holidays.Very crowded.

...absolutely the place for you.It has 600km+ of fabulous pistes in all 3/4 Valleys.You can ski for a week here without ever doing the same run twice:Meribel is the best place to stay as it is in the very centre of the 3 Valleys.You can reach Courchevel/Les menuires/Val Thorens so easy that you are totally spoit for choice. ADVANCED: There is more than enough off piste & moguls to keep anyone happy.I would thoroughly recommend the French Ski School off piste daily adventure.Its about £35 a day plus lunch but the memory will stay with you for ever.It's real off piste with a high mountain guide,sometimes to either of the two Glaciers.If you are lucky enough to have a fresh fall of deep powder splash out and take this course.You will not regret it. South Americas Finest Powder

...Lets get one thing straight from the word go. Visiting these resorts isn't going to be your average week on the slopes. A holiday here is going to be as much about visiting South America as going skiing, and whatever method you use to get here, it is going to be a very different from spending a week getting shepherded round the Alps by a spotty-faced rep in a brightly coloured shirt. The area. La Parva, El Colorado and Valle Nevado are as connected as Meribel, Courcheval and Val Thorens in France. In this comparison, La Parva would be Courchevel, off to the left side of a combined piste map and away from the slightly more crowded central resort of El Colorado. St Anton

Advantages: Lifts, Snow, Cartouche, Friendly, Hotel Rendlhof
Disadvantages: Piste grooming, wet lower down at Easter, weather on St Anotn, prices.

...to St Anton, but the skiing does make up for it. There are 10 or so red runs, many blues, but no real blacks. Again like The Rendl, the weather is better here than St Anton in my experience - I have been to Zurs and Lech in sunshine only to return to St Anton to a blizzard! the definite highlight of Zurs is the massive unpisted red down to Zug. It has to be skied to be believed - on a par with the Rendl run for the best run in the area. It took a long time to get there, but for an intense half hour of non-stop skiing with a massive vertical change, it is unparalleled across the Alps. And when you get to Zug, another short chair lift gets you to the top of the Lech area. Lech (4,757 - 7,798 feet) Lech is where the Royals go to ski - and you can see why. The pistes are the best, easily on a par with Courchevel, with good lifts to back...
