Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.

Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied. On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. CHILL WITH COX AND MCKEEVER

Advantages: Lovely and relaxing

Well a new kind as far as I?m concerned As most of you know Ross (my son) is doing web design for a company called The Music of Cox and Mckeever. They have sent him on a day course for HTML and other things so as when the company grows so will Ross?s future The company is owned by Zoe Cox, and her business partner John Mckeever. They originally started in Bonnybridge (the centre of activity for UFO sightings in Scotland) but Zoe now lives in Falkirk. When Ross told me about their music at first, I thought I wouldn?t fancy it at all. I imagined it would be all dolphin sounds and water breaking against the cliffs. Miss You Forever - Josephine Cox

Advantages: A Real Page-Turner

.... Rosie reads the diaries in their entirety and decides she wants to do something for Kathleen before she dies (is she going to die)? Rosie goes on a search for some of the people mentioned in Kathleen's diaries - does she find anyone? You will have to read the book to find out whether there is a happy ending or not. I guarantee you won't be disappointed! All the loose ends are tied up neatly with everything seeming to come full circle. Josephine Cox has once again taken a group of people, bought them together and wound a great story around them. I found characters that I cared about in the pages of this novel though I also found characters that I would happily have slapped (given half the chance). Sara Cox - Turning Amateur into an artform

Advantages: Stupid, amateur sounding at times
Disadvantages: Stypid, very funny at times

...The Breakfast Show on Radio One is usually the one radio show I hear bits of without fail. And I must say that, on balance I think that Sara Cox isn't doing a bad job, now that she's had over a year doing the job. I watched the Girly Show on TV, which made a big thing of taking the unknown Boltonian to 'stardom'. The show was useless, and Sarah came across as very amateur on it, especially when interviewing celebrities. Mind you, a chaotic feel was no doubt what the programme's producers were after, so she certainly helped that along. Since then, she's become a famous ladette, a la Zoe Ball and co. And, well, nothing wrong with that, good on her. It just doesn't seem to have got her many fans, somehow. Anyway, back to the Radio show. The music, first - she doesn't really seem to give a toss about the music she's playing...

A BOOK TO READ ON THE BEACH

Advantages: An easy and fast read that didn't involve too much thinking

Review of The Beachcomber - Josephine Cox

Science & Courtney Cox!

Advantages: Excellent soundtrack
Disadvantages: Slighty pants plot.

...The movie itself was a pilot for a tv series, it does seem to loosely be based on Scooby Doo (at least it does to me anyway) with the Misfits travelling around to their various crime fighting adventures in an Icecream truck (which they aquire so they are able to carry around a defrosting Iceman to keep him alive and sufficiently cold enough to maintain his power) It's not bad but its not awful. From initially reading the cast list I only knew Courtney Cox (from Friends, of course) and Larry Linville (who is better known as Frank Burns from MASH). I eventually managed to recognise Senator Donner as Otto from "Malcolm In The Middle" though! There might not be much of a plot and the effects might be really awful & cheesy but the cool 80's music and the goofy 80's fashions do a great deal to save this film from being really awful...

Cox up at the BBC

Advantages: Great for getting your back up in the morning

...I never really was a big fan of Zoë Ball, on the breakfast show in the mornings, but she grew into the job and by the time she left, I was actually disappointed she was leaving. I was though, quite excited by the prospect of someone new, but it didn’t last long. Her voice is so false, her phone in feature is simply stupid and the interaction with the other people on the show, downright silly. I can’t imagine how the BBC ever signed Sara Cox, and now they have extended her contract, they must need their heads looked at. Getting up is difficult enough to do in the mornings, without dragging the covers over my head so I cant hear her put on voice and stupid saying between the music. I refuse to turn over because there is no alternative round her, that plays good music, and doesn’t have those awful adverts...

An awful lot of Cox

Advantages: Brilliant smooth texture and refreshing with the real taste of a Cox apple
Disadvantages: Only three day shelf life once opened

...Going up and down the fruit juice section in any supermarket just leaves you confused as all the cartons and bottles offer the freshest ingredients. What I want with my apple juice is the taste of the countryside. The sweet smell of the orchard, the rustic smell of mulch on the ground, the tartness of one of our oldest English apples The Cox. It is very aromatic and used mainly for desserts but should be ideal for fruit juices. So did the Saxon 1050 Pure Apple Juice live up to all my expectations then?. The aroma is like any other apple juice you may have tried. A sweet mild cider type scent that is not overpowering but not over inviting either.
