A Right Pea Souper - Covent Garden Soup

Advantages: Convenient fresh soup, like home made.
Disadvantages: Quite expensive - but worth it

..."New Covent Garden Pea & Ham Soup" If you enjoy a good soup I am sure that you must have tasted a soup from the New Covent Garden soup range. The soups have been on the market since 1987, and the company strive to make restaurant/ home made style soups in a ready made form by using fresh ingredients and making the soups in a way you would at home. You will find these soups in the chilled section of the supermarket and they are sold in cardboard cartons. Each carton contains 600g ( although there are a few varieties now available in single portion 300g cartons - called One Bowlfuls.) The soups are all made from natural ingredients. I buy my soups from Sainsburys at the cost of £1.97 a carton. This may sound expensive in comparison to some other soups on the market but they do give two good bowls of excellent soup...

Covent Garden of Eden

Advantages: Just about the best tourist spot in London
Disadvantages: Can get very crowded at times

...INTRODUCTION Covent Garden is just about my favourite place in London. In the late 1980s I suffered from stress and depression. I found that going to Covent Garden every Saturday morning cheered me up no end. My wife and I visited Covent Garden recently on Saturday 15th September. GETTING THERE Covent Garden tube station is located on the Piccadilly Line on the tube. The tube train is always crowded, as the previous stops are Piccadilly Circus and Leicester Square. The Piccadilly Line is the dark blue line on the tube map. On reaching the station there are plenty of stairs to climb. You then have to wait for a lift to take you to street level. After negotiating the tube ticket machines simply turn right and you are in Covent Garden. If you are daring you can park here but the parking meters cost £4 per hour...

Covent Garden, London

Advantages: Lots of places to shop, indoors or outdoors! (and nice Waffles!)
Disadvantages: The usual disadvantages of London (pickpockets, traffic, crowded, etc.)

...I've been to Covent Garden a couple of times, once a few years ago and once a few days ago, and I am still yet to have explored all of it! Not only is there the huge marketplace but it is also surrounded by lots of other shops too. The famous market area is covered with a roof and home to lots and lots of stalls selling cheap clothes, jewellery, accessories etc. - lots of very low prices, especially considering this is bang in the middle of London, one of the priciest cities in Britain. Although, sometimes the prices are cheap because the products are cheap... but look carefully and you may find stuff that's actually worth buying and comes at a bargain price. When I was 13 or 14 I was on a school trip to London and we spent a few hours in Covent Garden, and we thought it was great, frittering away our pocket money on cheap hair...

Covent Garden For Interesting Shopping

Advantages: Diverse assortment of specialist shops
Disadvantages: Pricey. Now very much a tourist area.

...If you are on a visit to London do try to set aside some time for a visit to the very trendy, vibrant, refurbished,Covent Garden area of the metropolis. If you are shopaholic you will enjoy your visit, and Covent Garden is easily reached by bus or tube from the West End. Explore the streets of this now very touristy district and you will find some extremely interesting shopping haunts. If you should wander along Neals Yard you will discover a small holistic enclave where the likes of oriental spices, herbs, alternative medicies, herbal treatments are all on offer. If you are shopping for fabulous perfume or cologne then the heavily scented Penhaligon's shop in Wellington Street should be up your street! The Naturally British store in New Row is an interesting haunt to find a very cross section of craft products made by British...

TUSCAN BEAN from COVENT GARDEN

Advantages: Fresh and natural
Disadvantages: Can be expensive

...***INTRO*** My mum called around with a bag of goodies this weekend, one of which was a carton of soup from the NEW COVENT GARDEN Co Tuscan bean. It's sold in most national supermarkets and retails at about £1.50 - £2.00 for 600g. Mine arrived 14/01/2006, its sell by date 19/01/2006 (at top of package) the soup is freshly made. The advice on the package is to consume within 1 day of purchase. The soup can be frozen and can be consumed within one month of purchase. The New Covent Garden Food Co is a registered. ***THE PACKAGE*** The soup arrived in a board carton made from sustainable forest. It is covered with information and starts at the top with instructions on how to open it, it opens quite easily. The carton is robust. COOKING INSTRUCTIONS The soup can be ready for consumption on the hob after 5 minutes of heating...

Covent Garden, you must visit My Fair Lady

Advantages: History, neat stalls, sense of community
Disadvantages: Nothing

...Liza Doolittle-- My Fair Lady -- memories from my youth -- I've always wanted to go to Covent Garden. When first arriving in London I headed to Covent Garden and since then I've been many times and take all my overseas visitors there. Getting there by train is your first taste of something different. On arriving at the tube station there is a sign to tell you that you can walk up but the stairs, but upon reading the high number of stairs (I think it's in the hundreds!) you will most certainly decide to take one of the large lifts. ''Please have your ticket ready when getting out of the lift'' is good advice because when the door opens you are practically on the street. And what a street it is. Turn right and you are there, Covent Garden is just a short walk in front of you. That walk is so neat. Buskers, entertainers...

Covent Garden

Advantages: Street performers, London Transport Museum, Central Market
Disadvantages: it is overcrowded at weekends

...Covent Garden is one of the loveliest place of London with its open cafes, street singers and open market. It is perhaps the most vibrant place in London. The area is full of tourists, street performers and area residents and people from every background. You can see performers in the streets such as clowns, musicians, acrobats anytime of the day. They show their talents in Covent Garden. Most of the buildings around Central Market are from Victorian Period. I really love to drink my bear in those open cafes in Covent Garden. It is a such a lovely place. However, it is hard to stand crowd at the weekends, as it is extremely crowded. There are other different places to see in Covent Garden. You should see the theatre which is home to a very famous play named Mousetrap. Moreover, I really enjoyed my time I spent in London...

New Covent Garden conjures up a bewitching brew

Advantages: fresh, natural , tasty
Disadvantages: limitted availabilty

...Eye of toad, Wing of bat I'm a veggie , I don't fancy that. It's October already (where has the year gone?) so Halloween is almost upon us. I'm sitting at my cauldron cackling away with my designer pointy hat on and I'm wondering what potion I can create. Luckily the Covent Garden Food Company has come up with a suitably seasonal warming, fresh and natural soup, who really wants to eat spider's legs or blood of dog anyway? Its appropriately named Hubble Bubble Toil and Trouble" and is a pumpkin and pepper soup with "an underlying sweetness of apricots". It sounds unusual and delicious and best of all new Covent Garden soups were on special offer at Tescos as they were 2 for £3. (they are usually around about £1.80 normally. I've always liked the packaging of New Covent Garden soups as they are fun and the tetra pack...

Review of New Covent Garden Food Co Soup

Covent Garden or hidden Gem

Advantages: A wonderful place to kill time
Disadvantages: cant think of any!

...On the last day of our holiday in London, someone told us we should go to Convent Garden, as we had 6 hours to waste before our train. Now with a 14 and 11 year old i was a little unsure that any where would keep them happy for a whole afternoon. How wrong could i have been! ~~ On entering Covent Garden you cant help going WOW! where to start was our main problem, you have all the normal shops around the outside of the square, along with alot of little differant ones, my son spent ages in the gadget shop, so many interesting things. He came away with a magic eight ball, which is still providing the family with alot of fun. But there are shops for everyone and all tastes. ~~ We then had lunch in a lovely outside resturant, called Pronto. They were so helpful, as my daughter is a veggie, and she wanted something that would have had...

Covent Garden - Yet another tourist trap

Advantages: Easy to get to, close to other attractions
Disadvantages: Expensive, not very exciting, limited range of goods

...To be honest I don’t really know what all the fuss is about. Covent Garden for me was nothing more than a few painting sellers, some men trying to wrap themselves in cling film and a range of high street shops. Covent Garden is supposedly famed for it’s quality market and street entertainment, however, on my only proper visit and many walk through of Covent Garden, I have failed to see either of these two thing being portrayed. Firstly lets look at the market… ~THE MARKET~ Most of the market is undercover, in several ornate buildings. The main building houses mainly arts and crafts, which are quite frankly pretty naff, ranging from a Mona Lisa toilet seat, to a caricature picture of the Queen. This market is actually less enthralling that my local market down here in Somerset! I think that the term market is...
