Baileys Irish Cream Liqueur

Advantages: Tastes great, makes a really refreshing tipple
Disadvantages: Quite expensive & easy to drink too much!!

...Most of us little a nice tipple at home now and again to relax us, and my favourite has to be a nice glass of Baileys with ice. Mmmmn lovely! Baileys is the original Irish Cream alcoholic drink. Baileys is made from fresh Irish cream, the finest spirits and Irish whiskey. These three ingredients blended together make a really sweet and tasty drink, with the spirits and whiskey giving it a real kick. The taste of the alcohol is really evident, but doesn't over-power the drink. Some spirits have a tendancy to leave a burning sensation at the back of the throat, such is its strength, but with this drink you don't get that sensation, probably because the cream 'cools' the spirits down. The three main ingredients within this drink really compliment each other well in my opinion. For me this drink is best served chilled. I don...

The cream of the Irish

Advantages: Lovely to share
Disadvantages: You feel sick if you drink too much of it

...Baileys Baileys Original Irish Cream is a unique blend of fresh Irish dairy cream, Irish whisky and natural flavours. ^^^History^^^ In 1971 the senior managers committee of Gilbeys of Ireland had an idea to make a uniquely Irish drink that reflected Irelands heritage, agriculture and distilling traditions. Whilst the concept of this drink was fairly simple the actual recipe was proving difficult and cream and whiskey do not mix together naturally. By 1973 the recipe was perfected and all the issues with production in bulk and shelf life where resolved. 1974 - the year of the Baileys launch - hurray . By 1979 over 1 million cases where being sold around the world and in the 1980's it became the fashion to drink Baileys over ice which is still one of my favourite drinks today. What the bottle looks like...

coffee, cream and alcohol

Advantages: Creamy
Disadvantages: addictive

...Yes, you guessed it I had a bottle of Baileys original cream liqueur off Santa. What is Baileys cream liqueur? It is a coffee come whisky flavoured drink. This drink just slips down your throat with ease, so be careful and don't forget it is alcohol. I will tell you the price and other info before I start Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur 1 Litre is £15.87……Prices may vary due to different stores and promotions. You can buy this product in different sizes from miniatures to large. From most Major supermarkets and wine shops. I was lucky enough to receive a litre bottle. The alcohol contents are 17% proof. The bottle is very dark brown, with a stamp embedded in the glass. The label is green, with white and gold writing and also a picture of the country side. This is an imported liqueur which...

Amarula Cream - The Spirit Of Africa

Advantages: Delicious unique flavour, suitable for any occasion, cheaper than other cream liqueurs
Disadvantages: Marula flavour slightly over-powered

...the flesh around the nut, which can also be ground down and the oil used for skincare, ritual and medicinal purposes. The pale flesh is juicy, sweet and deliciously tart, with a light, flowery scented flavour, and it is this character which makes Amarula Cream unique. Many animals of the African bush also enjoy the marula fruit, the most famous consumers being elephants, who charge the trees to dislodge the fruit, and munch on those already fallen which are fermenting on the ground. The herds that frequently gather around the trees, have lent their name to the "elephant tree", and become synonymous with the liqueur. Amarula Cream is made by pulping the flesh of the fruit, which is then fermented until a clear marula wine is formed. The fruit solids are compressed and distilled and added to the wine to enhance the flavour of the fruit...

Review of Amarula Wild Fruit Cream Liqueur

The Cream of Ireland

Advantages: Delicious, Versatile
Disadvantages: Expensive

...Baileys Irish Cream is a liqueur made from fresh cream, triple-distilled Irish whiskey, ‘finest Irish spirits’ (to quote their own marketing department) and natural flavourings. Although I am a total whiskey-hater, I absolutely love this drink. First produced in 1974, it is now the world’s biggest seller of its type, and 1600 glasses of the stuff are consumed EVERY MINUTE worldwide! So how does it taste? The whiskey taste is actually quite subtle, though still distinctively there, and it blends beautifully with the cream to give a smooth but still punchy taste. The over-riding sensation when drinking Baileys is its thickness, smoothness and creaminess. Not surprising when you consider that one half of a bottle of Baileys is fresh cream. Not surprisingly, then, it’s pretty heavy on the calories...

THE ONLY CREAM FOR ME!

Advantages: Too many too list!
Disadvantages: Too many calories!

...and sophisticated drink that’s right up my street. Although you can hardly taste the flavour of the whisky, in fact you can hardly taste the alcohol at all, even though the alcohol content is very strong measuring 17.5% volume, so be warned you may think you are in control when you have drunk a whole bottle, but probably the only thing you may be good for is your bed! And now for the bad news, it’s not at all good for anyone out there on a diet as each 7.5cl serving sets you back a shocking 234 calories, which is why I only really consume this at Christmas. I cannot recommend Bailey’s enough to you all, please get out there and give this fabulous quality liqueur a go. Please do not compare Bailey’s Irish Cream to any other imitation that Supermarkets try to palm you off with from time to time - there is no competition...

The Cream of Axminster

Advantages: High quality drink, Stylish bottle, Fair price, Good customer service
Disadvantages: Poor delivery service

...The Lyme Bay Winery started life in 1992 as the rather modest Lyme Bay Cider Company, a small business founded from a desire to move from the city back into West Country, and inspired by the local Lyme Bay coastline. The company originally produced cider (surprisingly enough), which was supplied on draught and in bottles to local pubs and shops. However, a gradual expansion of the business has seen it develop into a full winery, offering rather more than just the original cider (three versions of which are still available). Amongst the goodies currently on offer are country fruit wines and liqueurs, cider brandy, Dorset ginger cordial, cider vinegar and a range of boozy preserves. There is also an award winning selection of cream liqueurs; butterscotch brandy (winner of the Taste of the West silver award 2004), double chocolate...

They are sold in 7.5cl size individual bottles packaged in a cream colour cardboard wrapper saying Baileys minis and are sold in a four pack. Review of Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur

Irish Cream

Advantages: tastes great
Disadvantages: the taste is deceiving, because it doesn't seem like you're getting drunk

...Hi there: Baileys Irish Cream is a soft liqueur, that tastes really good. It's not the tipical liqueur, mainly because its made with dairy cream and one of the bests whiskeys, irish whiskey. This is a weird combination, cream and whiskey, but the result is fantastic. And the thing is that this beverage is very soft, probably because of this dairy cream, but when you think about the other ingredient, whiskey, and the percentaqge of alcohol in this combination, 17%, you could say there's something strange in all this. Anyway, you can be drinking Bailys feeling really good because of its taste, but don't get surprised if, suddenly, you start to feel a bit drunk. Even in the ads of this beverage, there's a line at the botton of the screan saying 'drink moderatly. It's your responsability'. And now we are talking about the tv...

Review of Baileys Original Irish Cream Liqueur

Delicious, Rich, Liqueur

Advantages: Delcious, gets you drunk easily
Disadvantages: Calorific, gets you drunk easily!

...on Baileys. That was my main problem with the drink, - my next main problem is it's calorific content, which, although I'm not 100% sure of the exact figure, I know is a lot, due to the cream and (no doubt) great amount of sugar! The alcoholic volume of the drink is in the region of 17%, which, given the amount you are likely to drink, is not a great deal. The best thing about Baileys as well as it's taste and everything else I have mentioned about it, is the fact that you can buy it in every pub or bar you go to! On average (or where I drink), you are able to get a 50ml measure of Baileys for about £2.50, which is fairly reasonable. It is available in all pubs, because it is now seen as a standard Spirit or Liqueur. Overall, I would recommend Baileys to anyone that likes rich, milky drinks, that's if you haven't tried it already...
