Creative Sound Blaster Connect
Advantages: Good sound, optical connections, complete bundle
Disadvantages: A bit light, stereo only via analogue
...It?s not always easy or convenient to open your PC to install a new soundcard. You may just not like the idea of physically opening the machine. It may be you are a laptop owner and plagued by their notoriously poor audio capabilities. In either case, if you need to upgrade your machine?s sound capabilities, the Creative SoundBlaster Connect is just what the doctor ordered
Installation
Being a USB device, you simply need to install the drivers, plug it in to a USB socket and away you go. The Sound Blaster Connect takes its power from the USB connection so no external power pack is needed which is a major plus point. My system has Windows XP and an existing onboard sound card but it's a bit average. After installation both the original sound card and the new external one worked fine but I decided to disable the onboard sound via...

Live It With Sound Blaster Live!
Advantages: Superb value for money, easy to fit. Awesome sound quality. Great , plentiful software.
Disadvantages: None whatsoever.
...Recently, after the success of the Creative Audigy card I bought little over a month ago, decided to buy another card for a friends computer, after boasting the brilliant improvement in sound quality and the myriad of features that ship with the Creative family of sound cards.
Intro
I bought the card at a computer fair for 17.99 it was the Sound Blaster Live! 24 Bit model, its box was much similar to my other soundcard, the Audigy, bright orange, black, with a picture of the soundcard next to its respective logo. It looked pretty cool, if a little smaller than the Audigy model.
So it was settled, I took it to my friends and swiftly began installing it inside his PC. Before we began, we went to the BIOS menu and set the motherboards automatic audio as : Disabled instead of Auto. (This prevents any mix up between the mobo...

Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer
Advantages: Voters stunning
Disadvantages: none
...I am always very confident that the product with the word "extreme" in their names. By using a computer, a product that is in line with the performance, reliability and well-supported. That is, either by the driver, easy installation, or other features that I need to use this product. All have a strange obsession with the name Xi-Fi Xtreme, Xtreme Sound.
I wonder, why change something that has been stable since 2001, the last time I think about the sound card? With names like "X-Fi Xtreme Gamer" is what really apart from a previous Sound Blaster sound card in 2001, because the voice I had never complained or irritated and great sound for all games, music, Internet chat.
I tried a lot for this computer so that the volume of a sound card is not a problem for me. For those who are interested in the plant, I am pleased to say that this...

Creative Sound Blaster MP3+ external sound card
Advantages: Good software bundle, cheap, works well.
Disadvantages: Only stereo out on analogue
...It's not always easy or convenient to open your PC to install a new soundcard. You may just not like the idea of physically opening the machine. It may be you are a laptop owner and plagued by their notoriously poor audio capabilities. In either case, if you need to upgrade your machine's sound capabilities, the Creative SoundBlaster MP3+ is just what the doctor ordered.
I've had mine a couple of years now so you'll probably be looking to eBay or similar if you want to get one now.
Installation
Being a USB device, you simply need to install the drivers, plug it in to a USB socket and away you go. The MP3+ takes its power from the USB connection so no external power pack is needed which is a major plus point when your computer corner is heaving with external power packs hanging out of wall sockets. My PC has Windows XP...

Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1
Advantages: Great quality sound, cheap
Disadvantages: None whatsoever
...I was in the hunt for a new sound card and picked up this Sound blaster 'Live' by Creative from PC world for just £35.
The sound blaster Live is powered by the EMU10K1 digital signal processor which means you get very high sound quality without losing any of the power of your PC which other sound cards and onboard sound chips may take away as they require your PC's processor to power the sound, this ofcourse is great news for gamers who need all the spare power they can get in order to obtain maximum framerates.
The Creative sound blaster Live 5.1 has the ability to connect to dolby digital and multi-channel digital speaker systems and provides an awesome quality of surround sound in all its glory through 5.1 (providing you have surround sound speakers ofcourse) so you can experience movies via your PC as tho you were in a cinema...

One of the BEST choice for sound card.
Advantages: smaller size, usb connection support, 3D sound experience, very cheap, high SNR ratio.
Disadvantages: Does not support all OS, requires very powerful processor& ram,all features not works on XP
...on the data bus speed available for that usb port. In modern days, almost all the PC got USB port 2.0, which enable this sound card to provide the maximum output as in stereo/surround sound 24 bit/96kHz and also can go along with up to 5.1 speaker system, truly amazing isn?t it? But if the USB is 1.1 then the output sound quality drastically drops to 16 bit/kHz in case of surround sound.
Creative technology claimed to have SNR 100dB, SNR stands for signal to noise ratio, as the higher the ratio, the less obtrusive the background noise will be and also the clearer output sound will be. So virtually, there will be no noise effect for this sound card. But later it created some controversy, so they changed the theme to SNR ratio is higher than 99db, just to stay on safer side, haha.

and the price sounds just as good...
Advantages: cheaper alternative
Disadvantages: lacking extra software
...further complimented with 2 rear speakers, also on the centre channel axis, so that the positioning of audio can be further enhanced for theatre sound and the famous THX standard.
And, when it comes to rendering the 7.1 channels of audio, it does so remarkably well - after all, this is Creative Labs we are referring to. Also, the voltage is higher than that of the sound card built on the mainboard of your pc - translation: the volume is much higher, so you won't need as powerful speakers to get the sound you require.
In terms of software, this card comes with the usual driver CD, which also includes their own proprietry media player and their own volume control panel. Other than that, there IS nothing. Personally, I think that purchasing other sound cards mainly is paying for their supplied software - games, recording and editing suites...

The Sound Blaster Audigy LS
Advantages: Brilliant clarity. Excellent with all types of music, especially rock. Simple set up & Instructions.
Disadvantages: None at all.
...with "Sound Blaster" written in large text caught my eye. On the front was a short description advertising the card. The phrase which really impressed me was the fact it possessed cinematic quality sound aswell as high quality 24 bit audio (whatever that meant). Also, there was a picture of a large black circuit board littered with transistors and the like.
I bought the card for 38.99, a friend has advised me to bring around 50 quid, so it seemed pretty reasonable to me!
Upon arriving home I eagerly opened the box, inside was a small manual, which explained what the card was compatable with, a few screws for fastening the card's metallic bracket to your case. Aswell as a software CD containing Creatives sound card programs. The card is compatable with Windows 98SE, Me, 2000 and Xp, and is fully usable with Windows Media player, and other...
