Creative zen Vision M

Advantages: Large support for video, Reliable, Excellent music player
Disadvantages: Larger than most MP3 players, hard drive so prone to wear over time i.e. crashing

...Having bought this MP3 over 2 years ago now i thought i should write a review seen as it is 2 years old and still remains an mp3 with functions some companies have forgotten are useful. The Creative zen vision M was made as a competitor to the ipod classic back in the day boasting a 2.5" screen, touch navigation and most importantly a wide range of video support. Firstly the video support. This for me is one of the best features of this mp3 player, with divx, xvid, mp4, avi support it still has more video support than the ipod touch. This is brilliant, every time i download a video i don't need to convert, all i do is slap it on the hard drive and i'm good to go. Video playback is excellent, although it is only a 2.5" screen the colours are vibrant and although small details cannot be seen it is an excellent on the go video player...

Creative Zen being too Creative

Advantages: Lots of storage, Works as mass storage device, Lots of features, Plays Video
Disadvantages: Requires software to upload music, Big and heavy

...I bought myself a Creative Zen Vision M to listen to my music collection. I chose this player due to the large storage capacity and video capabilities as well as the built-in FM radio tuner. Mine is the 60GB version, but the 30GB version is also available in a slightly smaller body. The player has a black front and a white back and doesn't look quite elegant. It has four buttons, each with an icon that glows a nice blue colour when pressed. Something unusual is that it has a vertical touch pad for navigation. I bought mine for £160 at the time when it first came out (60GB version) but the 30GB version seems to be selling for just over £100 on eBay. Creative Zen Vision:M - best on the market

Advantages: Loads of features, brilliant screen quality, value for money
Disadvantages: no mains charger supplied, headphones not great

...The Creative Zen Vision:M is the ultimate in personal entertainment. Although most people prefer to stick with the 'popular' Apple iPod products, i feel they are often excessively priced for the features that they offer and as such you are merely paying for the brand name. Creative's entertainment products on the other hand are packed full of features at a very reasonable price. The Zen Vision:M has several features that make it stand out from an iPod. Firstly, there is the ability to use the player as a portable hard disk, the capacity of which can be set by the user from 1GB to 16GB in teh 30GB model. This enables the user to store files other than the usual mp3 and mp4 files such as documents and other program files. Creative Zen Vision M 30GB

Advantages: Sound Quality, Photo and Video Features
Disadvantages: No charger

...charger provided with the MP3 player. WHY????? and unfortunately my old Micro charger doesn't work with it either as you can only use the docking hole to plug a charger in (which you have to buy separately - luckily they are widely available). I don't like the fact Creative have changed from a USB plug in to the docking hole as this is located at the bottom of the player so if you want to charge and listen to music and you have one of the cheapy docking station speakers you can't put the player in the place holder! These are only small gripes though as the applications and sound are excellent. Note for Creative, stick with the things that worked for the old Micro Zen (ie better software and charger) with the additional features and upgrades of the Vision (larger capacity, photos and videos) and you would have a seriously brilliant...

Zen Vision:M - Over a year on and going strong

Advantages: Handles numerous file formats; good battery life
Disadvantages: Slightly chunky; not as attractive as iPod; screen scratches easily

...are to do with the screen, which seems to scratch very easily (though the scratches are not really noticeable when a video is playing) and it can be difficult to see what is on the screen in strong sunlight. These aside, with my Zen Vision:M being over a year old I have no intention of replacing it as every button still works perfectly, there is still plenty space on it for the average owner (I have about 15 movies and about 300 music tracks), and even the headphone socket (a problem on previous Creatives) has not given a single second of trouble....

The color option now available is black (definitely good thinking). It has inherited the best parts of Zen Vision in resemblance. At a measurement of 83.0 x 55.0 x 11.3mm it will fit into your pocket and stay their comfortable since it weighs only 65 g. or 2.1 oz. Might be a bit bulky but wait I will tell you why. Great but should come bundled with the player!

...A few years back now I picked up a Creative Zen Vision mp3 player, and though I found it to be excellent one thing that really annoyed me was that the mains charger it came with was a usb cable that requires you to charge the player via a laptop, which strikes me as incredibly silly for a portable device that's designed to be a travelling companion. Electronics company Techfocus sell a mains charger for under £6 including shipping through Amazon, which connects to the player in the same manner as the charger that comes bundled but with a mains adapter instead of a usb adapter at the opposite end. The bright white charger is durable and light, with a cable length of 150cm approx, and whilst several reviewers on Amazon claim that it breaks easily I have taken mine on numerous long haul trips over the past year and experienced no...

...This product is 'great' to just say one word. It is windows compatible, supports divx. xvid and wmv, supports very well slideshows and music libraries and has integrated FM radio. I love it - in fact for me when giving presentations its is a substitute for my laptop! (i just convert the powerpoint to pictures!) However if I were to buy antoher one, I would buy the 60Gb edition, since my Zen has reached its limit - something I would never imagine when I bought it - but I keep adding stuff to it! When I am to go abroad I use it is a video player, and probably it would do with a slightly larger screen. Another downside is the dongle which you have to keep carrying around with you, to charge the player, use its tv/out or connect to the PC. One last thing, its slightly thick so if this really matters, you might prefer an ipod...
