JBL Creature II

Advantages: Wonderful sound quality, Suprisingly low price, Amazing design
Disadvantages: None that I can see.

...Before I bought these speakers about a year ago, I had thoroughly searched the internet for any opinion, review, press release, and editorial on the Creature II and discovered that these were rather exceptional speakers. Yet I was still concerned that this was a product of design over quality - simply due to the shockingly small size of the satellite speakers (about the size of your fist), and that JBL were more concerned about desigining some speakers that would complement Apple Macs than impress the music listener. Even when I went to Tottenham Court Road to test out the Creature II, I was not quite convinced that the audio quality was up to scratch. This could have been due to the fact that it was very noisy in-store, with lots of people and the obligatory shop muzak playing - obviously no condition to seriously compare speaker...

Create your own creature and explore - Spore Creatures for DS

Advantages: Lots to explore, good concept
Disadvantages: Not very challenging, can get repetitive

...This review is of the Nintendo DS game, Spore Creatures, developed by Maxis and published by Electronic Arts. This is a sim type game where you have to create your own creatures and then explore space. In theory, this is a really interesting concept, where you start the game as a very basic creature in space. You have to interact with other creatures, choosing whether to become friends with them, or to attack them, to make you stronger. As you progress through the game, you have to enter space to help defend the universe. The main element of this game, choosing whether to become friends with other characters, or to attack them, is quite limited though, which does make the game quite repetitive. ...This DVD is of Series 1 Part 2 of the TV series Creature Comforts which was on TV last year. It is produced by Aardman, who also produced Wallace and Gromit and Chicken Run. The characters creature comforts were also in some PG Tips adverts at the same time as the show was on, and longer ago the first Creature Comforts were starring in Electricity adverts and they are included on the DVD too. The show itself is filmed digitally and it takes four days to make 15 seconds of program. The programs were all about nine minutes long so it took ages to make. Chicken Run took a week to make four seconds of film though so they have speeded up a lot. JBL Creature II

Advantages: Good sound quality, Looks Great
Disadvantages: Resonance at 50Hz

...I'm quite knowledgable about speakers systems, so i bought these after doing a lot of research to make sure i was getting a good product. They are simple to get working and i was initially very happy with the quality of sound they produced. After about 2 hours of playing with my new gadget i found that the sub resonated quite audiably at 50Hz. I thought this was a fault with the system so I exchanged them for another 'Creature II' and i still found this resonance was apparent. Im guessing its just the natural frequency of the sub which is a shame as it is in audiable range. After a few hours of fiddling with high and low pass filters and an equaliser I managed to get rid of this problem, fine for me but i feel this may be a bit complex for novices. After sorting out the initial problems, I can safely say that this is one of the best...

Lovely, Drunken Little Creatures

Advantages: Really nice pale ale and gorgeous food
Disadvantages: It's in Australia for gawd's sake!

...Little Creatures is a microbrewery and restaurant based in Fremantle, Western Australia. The company was established in 2000, and the brewery/restaurant is now run out of an old crocodile farm on the front of Fremantle Harbour. The Beer Little Creatures are famous in Australia for their pale ale which, they claim, is brewed with only the freshest hop flowers and combined with light citrus, passion fruit and honey. I don't know about all that, but having tasted the pale ale, it's certainly very tasty. Advantages: Cheap budget price

...Creatures is a different kind of game for your PC. The idea of the game is to hatch your very own pet creature, and then to nurture them as they grow! You have to guide your adopted pet through an unknown world and help them grow and learn as best as you can. The creatures go through different emotions such as pain and hunger as you train them through the hectic up's and down's of creature life. For me, this game is a bit dated. This is because firstly there are newer versions of this game and secondly similar concepts have been more successfully emulated in more entertaining ways. However, for the budget price, it's not too bad....

Creature Comforts with an American Twist

Advantages: Quite amusing at times, nice variety of different topics, animals and accents
Disadvantages: Gets a bit same-y/boring if you watch all the episodes together, lack of extras on the DVD
