...I hate shopping at the best of times and as any parent will know shopping with children in tow can be a nightmare experience. Not any longer! Our local Asda has a wonderful creche. It is suitable for children from ages 3 to 8 inclusive. It is very reasonably priced. It costs just £1.40 to leave your child for 1 hour. The fee goes up to £1.80 for 11/2 hours and £2.20 for 2 hours. I'm sure you will agree that this is money well spent. No more whinging about wanting to get in or out of the trolley. No more mysterious packages appearing in the trolley as you unload at the checkout. It is absolute bliss. Even better is the fact that the children love it. My son has just turned 16 months old and I have recently been taking him to my local leisure centres crèche where the staff informed me that he likes nothing more than playing with Play-Doh. Before this time I had naturally assumed he would try and eat the stuff but they assured me this was not the case. Upon hearing that Play-Doh was Jack's favourite thing to do at the crèche I popped straight down to my local Woolworth's to pick up a tub or two. I assumed the age range on the Play-Doh was 3+ but surprisingly on the single tubs, it states 2+. ...If like me you are always stuck for an end of term present for your children's teachers, this is a great idea. I came across this poem in the creche at the centre where I work and thought it would be lovely framed. I printed out a couple of copies and bought two nice frames and gave them to Adam & Paige's teachers last summer. They now hang in the classroom and it cost me next to nothing. Pricey and not worth it

Advantages: Latest equipment, long opening hours, when quiet easy to get on everything
Disadvantages: Too hot, too many kids, not really a proper gym, changing rooms not overally clean

...I have been a member of David Lloyd for a number of years and have seen the price creep up without things actually improving. The gym equipment to be fair suited me. It was new and included treadclimbers which I was a regular user of when they were not 'awaiting repair' as they often were. The main bugbear is that once you have got through the turnstiles you have to wade through the glorified crèche. Lots of kids just running into you and blocking the only route to the changing rooms whilst their parents sip Costa coffee in blissful ignorance. With bottles of water costing £1.50 it would be better to drink the pool water. Then again, the outside pool is in worse condition than a lot of council pools. The air conditioning barely works in winter so you can imagine how uncomfortable it gets in summer. Interesting after they boast...

...desire. The leisure centre has squash leagues where people of different ages and abilities can join. The games for the leagues take place on Monday evenings from 5o clock so Monday evening is a no go for booking a private game. The Bistro (Café)... The Café does have good positioning in the leisure centre and has large glass windows overlooking the large pool. There sell a lot of healthy things to eat in here but still do sell things such as chips or chocolate! The prices are reasonable and I think it is a good place to come and watch the swimmers and enjoy a well made cup of tea. The Crèche... Merry Hill is heaven for shoppers

...Merry Hill shopping centre (Brierly Hill in West Midlands) is a must for everybody that likes shopping! It has all the shops you could possibly desire under one roof, ranging from department stores ( Marks and Spencers , Debenhams,BHS) to supermarkets, clothes shops,health stores you name it it will have it! Shops are clearly signposted and there are maps located around the centre. There are many security guards around, so no need to worry about pick pocketing. For parents Merry Hill has a creche called Snappers, It looks really enticing from the outside with ball pits, slides and climbing frames. Parking at Merry Hill is free and the centre has electronic signs telling you if there are spaces in the car parks, which i find very helpful. ...and a crèche for younger children. Asda Halbeath has an excellent product range, with the majority of our monthly and week-2-week shopping being performed there. In fact, some items that our household is fond of, can only be found here, such as Chicago Town Individual Take Away Pizzas. The checkout area is good and easily accessible, with approximately 30ish checkouts, 1 basket only checkout, 1 disabled (extra space) checkout and 8 self service checkouts. We've never had to wait long in checkout queues unlike some other supermarkets we've been too. All in all, I find this Asda, and Asda in general an excellent supermarket to shop at, offering fabby value for money and an excellent product range, as shown by the fact that we attend here more often than anywhere else....

Advantages: Great for children
Disadvantages: Too much Noddy for the average grown up

...I have been trying to take my daughter to Butlins for about two years, except I was either too slow or too late for the single parent deal. But this year we made it. It was my daughters birthday and my own, so I wanted to take her to a Kiddie Paradise. Noddy, Denise the Menace and the X-Men were all there as well as the famous Redcoats. I did however expect a little bit more from the Redcoats in the way of performing though, but on the whole, they were okay. The children did enjoy themselves and there?s even a crèche just in case your child demands a break from you! The seven day Butlins visit was enjoyable but I have had enough of Noddy and Noddyland for quite a long time. The food was really quite edible to my amazement and their fudge cake is delicious. If you are looking for a nice break with the kids, this is a great place...

The activity gym as shown in the picture is made up of four side panels, each with holes in for the child to climb through. There is a small bright pink slide and a blue floor, which the children can go under or climb on to go down the slide. As we unpacked the activity gym it looked relatively simple to assemble, as it was really just a case of slotting the panels together but don?t be fooled!
