Heeding the Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (PS3) by
Magrippinho
Advantages: Amazing animation, authentic-looking presentation
Disadvantages: No variation after the first few hours
..."Ubisoft" takes "Prince of Persia" to the next level and introduces Altaïr, a 12th century assassin who is about to find out what the Creed is all about. Whether it's roaming about Jerusalem's rooftops, or impaling knights and then casually blending in with dozens of passers by, "Assassin's Creed" featured plenty of things to get excited about and was one of the most hotly anticipated games of the season.
The Story
At its core, Assassin's Creed details the exploits of Third Crusade-era assassin Altaïr, fabled to have personally exterminated all of the Knights Templar. Besides showing Altaïr taking on demented overseers and the Templars' rising fear of him, early trailers also featured some blueish graphical "glitches" that piqued the curiosity of gamers and promised quite a twist for the main story.
Yet, despite...

Creed; The Cash Cow Strikes Once More.
Review of Greatest Hits (+DVD) - Creed by
RockBoi
Advantages: Tremonti, 2 or 3 individual songs
Disadvantages: Stapp, generic, repetitive, stale, uninventive
...1999 saw the release of 'My Own Prison', the debut album from US rockers Creed. For a band that blatantly ripped-off the likes of Pearl Jam on an almost track-by-track basis, their success was startling.
Forgoing their debut, the bands two follow up releases, 'Human Clay' and 'Weathered' started to show cracks in the foundations, and whether it was down to the staggering 20 million sales, or the more likely fact that vocalist Scott Stapp happens to be a total tosser, Creed soon disbanded and went their separate ways.
Guitarist Mark Tremonti was always the star of the piece; a truly fantastic talent, his recent emergence as part of new outfit Alter Bridge (whom also feature former Creed drummer Scott Phillips and bass player Brian Marshall) serves notice that parting ways may well have been for the better as far as he's concerned...

Assassins Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
MattayBoy
Advantages: Brilliant graphics, innovative controls
Disadvantages: Tasks can end up feeling repetitive, AI can be dire at times
...There has been a great deal of hype surrounding Assassin's Creed, with emphasis on free-form action and next gen graphics among the reasons to get excited.
And its true, the graphics are at time, quite brilliant, and the exploration offered by it is top-notch also.
You take up the role of Altair, an Assassin in the 12th century, on a mission to slay 9 figures of importance to redeem himself. There is also a huge twist in the tail too, which I won't reveal, although the game does reveal it in the opening scenes, and the story would benefit far more if it was revealed closer to the end to give the game a sense of real shock value.
One of the hyped up features in Assassins Creed is the free running abilities of Altair, and that "anything that sticks out more than 3 inches can be climbed" Well they certainly meant that, Altair can...

Creed
Review of Creed - James Herbert by
Mickm9
Advantages: Excellent story
Disadvantages: Not very gory
...The hero in this book is a guy called Joe Creed (hence the title) and he is portrayed by James Herbert as being a bit of a scum bag, which, as he is a fully paid up member of the paparazi is probably not that far from the truth. Now as we know these guys know all the tricks for getting the juicy bits of gossip and more importantly the photographic proof to go with it. It is this very "skill" that gets Creed into the trouble he soon finds himself in when he takes a photo of someone (or something) that he shouldnt of.
Although James Herbert does try and make Creed the sort of person you dont really care what happens to I did end up feeling a bit of empathy with his plight, not only is he trying hard to deal with some seemingly supernatural happenings but he is also plunged into some interesting moral dilemas such as should he make love...

ASSASSINS CREED : GOOD OR NOT!?
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
Rogue-XIII
Advantages: Great graphics and a great idea for a game
Disadvantages: No multiplayer, Very Short, Not much Replayability
...ASSASSINS CREED
Assassins creed had a lot of publicity throughout the gaming industry and from what they showed us at the various public displays it looked as though it was going to be an outstanding game that everyone would want. It looked as though it may sell out and that possibly it would over take other best selling games such as Halo 3. It was released on the 21st of November in England and due to all of the public hype and from what I had seen I really wanted a copy. Luckily there was still loads of copy's left. The game came as the standard box game or as a limited edition set with a different case and a figure of the main player. I purchased the standard edition as the Altair figurine did not warrant me spending an extra £20. Any way I got the game at home and below is the review.
THE STORY
In assassins creed you play...

Assassin's Creed PS3 - The low down.
Review of Assassin's Creed (PS3) by
arrrtdave
Advantages: Beautiful graphics and an original story line. Fantastic free-running and combat system.
Disadvantages: At times repetitive and predictable. Also a little short.
... About the game
Assassin's Creed was the game that convinced me to part with the chunky sum of money that the PS3 price tag carried. Set in 1191 AD during the Third Crusade, the game promised to be an exhilarating one player adventure. You play Altair, an assassin of the Creed, who has been stripped of his ranks after failing to comply with the rules of the Brotherhood. You are set the mission to assassinate key targets across the land as you slowly regain you lost rank and reputation.
At a glance...
If you do not want to read this whole review then in short: The game is fantastic and I definately recommend it. With stunning graphics and lighting, a terrific combat system and slick controls, the game is thoughtful and well composed. Being able to scale almost every surface in a Prince of Persia esque...

Creed-u-like
Review of My Own Prison - Creed by
Jonzeh
Advantages: Tight, well produced rock
Disadvantages: Derivative
...I like to think I have a fairly wide taste in music, varieties of jazz, classical, modern electronica , rock, metal all feature on my hi-fi. In fact I’ve got the last movement of Saint-Saens’ Organ Symphony playing right now. It’s just a case of wanting to listen to as much *good* music as possible. Having heard some Creed you may ask why I would bother with such a band. Aren’t they just a wholly derivative bunch of record company darlings, playing with the still twitching corpse of Metallica whilst buying drinks for Eddie Vedder at a grunge convention? Well, to be blunt, they are very derivative and they do remind me of countless other artists/bands in the rock/metal/grunge genre. But to completely ignore them on the basis that being “good” requires total originality alone is to somewhat miss...

Free-running Assassin's Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
adampurcell16
Advantages: Great graphics, superb character mobility
Disadvantages: Levels get repetitive
...Assassin's Creed is a mix between a historic battle game and free-running. Altair, an assassin from the 12th Century, has to use skills, from pick-pocketing to full combat, in order to kill his targets.
The storyline is quite complex, but the number of movie sequences in the game help to tell the story, even if they do get quite boring. A man, Desmond, is being held prisoner by a company hoping to change the past. A machine, called the Animus, lets you travel back in time and relive the memories of your ancestors. The game is split between the kidnapped Desmond and the ancient assassin, but the two characters intertwine at the very end.
Overall, a very good game from Ubisoft. The maps are very big, giving you a lot of freedom in what you do, and there are lots of extra tasks to do when you are not killing people...

Assassins Creed: X Box 360
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
nilouche
Advantages: New game play, Next gen physics and graphics, History with a twist
Disadvantages: Your girlfriend/Boyfriend will get annoyed with you being plugged into the TV
...I have just spent all day playing this game and I've got to say I'm pretty impressed.
For those people that enjoyed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time think 'Bigger and Better' (it is made by many of the same team). Assassins Creed has taken all the bits we loved about PoP and has put them in a package that is much less linear and much more fun. Want to jump from that roof and grab the window ledge opposite? Thats cool, you can. Any part of the scenery that protrudes more than two inches can be used as a hand hold.
The fighting in this game is also quite unlike any other. Instead of going for the 'Hack and slash, button mash' approach, you are rewarded for taking your time and letting your enemys come to you and then countering their attacks. For me this makes the game much more realistic. You have to think about all the things...

Assassin's Creed
Review of Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360) by
andyk
Advantages: Excellent story, the assassinations are great
Disadvantages: Quite repetitive, some camera and control issues
...Assassin's Creed is a game of two stories. Two stories linking in two aspects, but separated by almost a thousand years. In the run-up to the game's release, Ubisoft were tight-lipped about the "near-future" part of the game, but the secret came out regardless, so it's no real spoiler mentioning it.
You play as Desmond, a bartender in the year 2012 who has been kidnapped by a pharmaceutical company and forced to undergo experiments in a machine called the Animus. The reason isn't apparent at first, but the experiment involves Desmond regressing to the life of one of his ancestors - an Assassin in the Holy Land during the time of the Crusades - and replaying the events of the time from his point of view.
These events being the assassination of powerful people in the three cities of Acre, Damascus and Jerusalem. Altaïr (pronounced...
