Not Craps Causeway...at all!

Advantages: huge, many shops...awesome building!
Disadvantages: can get VERY busy!

...CRIBBS CAUSEWAY ----------------------------- Last week I was sat at home feeling a little bored and wondering what to do at the weekend. My partner suggested a visit to The Mall @ Cribbs Causeway. It was such a surprise as my other half hates shopping but he was suddenly keen to drive for three hours up to Bristol. I soon realised the next day that this could have had something to do with the fact Katie Price aka Jordan was visiting to sign her new fragrance. Although the South West have been blessed in recent years with two major shopping centres we still feel a little deprived compared to London, Manchester, Birmingham and Newcastle etc. The Princess Hay in Exeter and the Drake Circus in Plymouth are all lovely shopping centres but do not provide the same sort of experience as shopping at the Mall @ Cribbs Causeway. GETTING...

The Modern Day Scourge

Advantages: Everything is there, relatively hassle free
Disadvantages: Traffic chaos at busy times, fighting over parking spaces

...Cribbs Causeway situated on the outskirts of Bristol is the largest out of town retail centre in the South-West and one of the largest in the country. It started life over 20 years ago when it was just an Asda (then the largest hypermarket in the land) and has steadily expanded until recent times when in 1998 'The Mall' was opened marking it as a spectacular shopping experience. Usually these huge shopping centres leave a sour taste in the mouth, Bluewater in Dartford, Meadowhall in Sheffield and Metro in Gateshead all have massive problems with regard to traffic and amount of people wanting to visit. Does Cribbs Causeway fall into the same bracket ? ~How to get there~ Cribbs Causeway is situated just off junction 16 of the M5 motorway. It is a couple of miles outside Bristol and is signposted for miles around so it's not hard to...

A Premier Preview

Advantages: Good food, accessible
Disadvantages: None

...Preview Bar and Grill is situated in the, what I think is the, famous Cribbs Causeway just north of Bristol. You can get to it by coming off on junction 17 of the M5 and is right on the motorway so is really accessible from most places. Cribbs Causeway:- Cribbs Causeway is probably more commonly know for its shopping facilities which include Marks and Spencer and John Lewis being the biggest shops there with 135 further shops including Monsoon, French Connection Gap, Next, New Look and The Body Shop just to name a few to choose from in The Mall, there certainly is no time to get bored here! But there are also many restaurants to choose from too, all 17 restaurants and café?s to be exact! Which includes KFC and Pizza Hut and of course Preview Bar and Grill. Preview Bar and Grill...

Cribbs Causeway one of the best

Advantages: Clean friendly atmosphere, good for most shops.
Disadvantages: If travelling from long distances, there are better shopping centres to visit

...As shopping malls go ,I have visted many ranging from one of the Uk's first, the Metro centre to America's largest, Mall of America. Cribbs Causeway in Bristol compared to these isnt too bad. The mall is modern, airey and has a pleasant atmosphere. The range of shops is quite large, and on the outskirts of the centre is a retail park with even more shops and Warner village Cinema along with other eating opportunities such as Mc Donalds. Cribbs Causeway houses such shops as Gap, Boots, M & S, KFC, French Connection, Games Workshop, H & M just to mention a few. As well as the range of shops the mall area all include a nice food court with a range of fast food, ranging from KFC to Jacket potatoes. The mall has lots of parking which is adequate for the size of the mall and the amount of visitors it attracts (apart from peak times...

Travelinn at Cribbs Causeway: Review

Advantages: Clean, Safe, New, Integrated bar/lounge
Disadvantages: In-room heat!...Not being able to open the window more than two inches.

.... The small bar next to the lobby was ideal for getting a drink to unwind after a long journey. I didn't try the food there, but the menu did look a little expensive for the sort of place it is. (It's not as if there is a restaurant full of people demanding top-quality food, the place is, essentially, serving elaborate 'bar-snacks'.) I would hesitate about staying here again in the summer, because the rooms were too hot and nothing could be done to sort that out. This sort of place would be absolutely ideal all-year round except for the june/july/august period. Overall, the hotel was comfortable and exceptionally clean, and the locked doors (I counted five on my way between the car-park and being inside my room) make you feel very secure. Nearby is the well-known Cribbs Causeway shopping mall, ideal for those weekend shopping trips...

HAVE YOU GOT THE APPETITE OF A GIANT???

Advantages: Beautiful Scenic setting
Disadvantages: No childrens facilities

...We have visited the Antrim Coastal area in the past and have lunched at The Causeway Hotel, which is just outside the small town of Bushmills. We thought the hotel setting was spectacular and as we enjoyed our lunch, we promised ourselves that we'd return some time and stay here. We were visiting relatives in Northern Ireland in April 2003 and as it was our wedding anniversary while we were there, we decided to treat ourselves to a two night break to coincide with our actual anniversary date. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ SITUATION The Causeway Hotel, Bushmills, Northern Ireland, as its name probably suggests, is situated on the cliff top above The Giant's Causeway. The small town of Bushmills is about a five minute drive from the hotel and yes, for the whiskey lovers amongst us, you can tour the distillery. It's only about...

The Giant's Causeway. Giants v's Geology

Advantages: Stunning scenery; A phenomena you won't see anywhere else
Disadvantages: Er, very tiring.

...Many, many, many years ago (you get the idea), the warrior giant of Ulster, Finn McCool was challenged to a ‘scrap’ with the Scottish giant Benandonnor. In order for Benandonnor to get across, Finn built a highway from Antrim to the Isle of Staffa, Benandonner’s home. One day after the highway was built Benandonner came over to Antrim whilst Finn was asleep. Finn’s wife realised that he was much bigger and stronger than her husband so she cleverly (what else would you expect from a woman) covered Finn with a blanket and a baby’s bonnet. When Benandonner arrived and saw the baby he didn’t stay around to see Finn: if the baby was that big then how big would Finn be! When he went back across to his home on the Isle of Staffa he destroyed the highway in his wake, and today the Giant’s Causeway is...

Review of County Antrim (Ireland)

One of Irelands main attractions

Advantages: It will keep you fit
Disadvantages: You will be very tired at the end of it

...Giant’s causeway is situated on the outskirts of county Antrim just besides the bushmills distillery. A place for those people that like walking for pleasure. While I was over in Ireland we paid this place a visit. On arrival we came to the entrance that was a very nice attraction. Just inside the entrance were a gift shop and a coffee shop where you could get refreshments. Beyond the main entrance was the start of the walk As we were walking we admired this beautiful rocky place and the view was unbelievable too. It took us about six hours to get all a round giants causeway something that I will do again....

Coleraine - Centre for the Causeway Coast

Advantages: A very good central base for a holiday, or even to live
Disadvantages: The weather control is not always what it could be, but where is?

...I have known Coleraine for nearly 50 years ago, and while I go away from time to time, I always return. It is a great town, one of the few towns which has had the sense to keep the whole shopping area free from traffic (in the main). There are many good eating and drinking places, both in town, and in surrounding district. As well as most of the UK national chains, the town has several geuine local establishments, which make the journey worthwhile - especially at sale time you can pick up excellent bargains in clothing and foootwear, all within a few seconds walk from the outstanding 'Diamond', which contains the 'Town Hall'. As it is only a few miles inland from the Causeway Coast, with about 30 miles of excellent beaches, and wonderful coast line and harbours, not to omit 'The Giant's Causeway', and 'Old Bushmills...
