Good Woodworm Cricket Bat for a Junior/Beginner
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Not the best quality
...I recommended this bat to a brother of mine, a beginner, with not much experience of the game.
I recommened this bat because of its value for money, as a junior or beginner, you don't want to be paying too much money for a bat, as it is all about fun, and not being too serious.
As for the bat itself, you get what you pay for, you know when you pay around £20 your not going to get the best bat ever, but for a junior or beginner to the game it would be excellent due to its durability and weight.
The bat my brother bought still exists now, well worn but he still uses it to this day, around a year or two ago when he bought it, he likes it and hes picky!
In review i recommend this bat to all it fits, and i hope this has helped you all in the search of a new cricket bat.
Regards, mrcricket....

Power and quality for a decent price
Advantages: Good for power hitting, value for money
Disadvantages: Not so good for 'touch' players
...A few years back, Woodworm were THE cricket supplier. Providing gear to the likes of Andrew Flintoff and Kevin Pietersen, their stuff was in demand from every youngster taking up the game.
However, it soon became clear that the company may have bitten off a little more than they could chew with their costly sponsorships outstripping profits. They went under and the brand name has now resurfaced under the ownership of online sports equipment supplier, the Sports HQ. (www.thesportshq.com)
As a result, it is now possible to pick up a number of bats at very reasonable prices. I plumped for the Gold (they have Bronze, Silver and Gold available, which vary in line with the grade of willow used to make the bat, with Gold being Grade 1 English Willow) Mega Bite, which used to be Freddie Flintoff's choice of bat.
This bat comes...

beast of a bat
Advantages: a really nice middle
Disadvantages: Kashmir Willow
...LOOKS
This Bat in my view is one of the best looking bats around and has not got to much pictures on the bat like the Kookaburra angry beast. I think the blue and red go very well together and really look good. Even the grip fits in with the style having blue slashes on it done by "the beast". The beast itself is not overdone but it still noticeable from a distance. I think the fact that the wood is unbleached giving it a more white effect looks better for it's style than a darker wood. I love the looks because you can really show the bat off and not worry about being seen bating with it.
POWER
The middle on this bat is awesome you can hit a cricket ball miles and you really know when you have caught it right. As for the bat itself it is very forgiving of bad shots and has a lot of power. The bat has great power considering it is...

Sweet Sixes Taste Delicious,Funny How Far They Fly with CA Power!
Advantages: Good weight, durable, Higher middle, good value
Disadvantages: protective cover can crack on the bat edges
...at the edges so it may have to be secured by a few layers of cricket bat tape. A standard toe cover can also be used to add extra protection.
Comfort /Style
The bat has a relatively slim handle, which may not be ideal for everyone. If this is the case you may have to double up and add another grip. The original grip is of a very high quality and lasts a very long time and is fixed very well to the handle. The color scheme of the bat allows for a wide variety of replacement grips as there are a few very compatible designs which seem as though they are the original. The bat stickers are also very well designed and the bat is easy on the eye, it is aesthetically pleasing. But the Power label on the front face is the main course. The word power can have a psychological affect on the opposition especially if you are a confident batsman when you...

Flick Cricket Game
Advantages: An iPhone cricket game...
Disadvantages: ...very basic
...You may have noticed I've written the odd review or two about iPhone application games in recent weeks...and you'd be right. So here's another one - Flick Cricket.
There's a game doing the rounds on the internet called Stick Cricket which is extremely addictive and enjoyable...unfortunately the Flick version is completely different, and not quite up to the same standard; but then again this application is free for all you good, good iPhone users.
The game is based on a six-over match, where the user always bats first and then attempts to defend the total as the 'computer' chases it down. On the main menu there are a couple of options - Quick Facebook Game, New Normal Game, Continue Game and Connect with Facebook. Now, I've not delved into the world of the Facebook options, but I believe it allows you to upload photos for players...

Bat Out Of Hell - Truly Amazing!
Advantages: Just a fantastic rock album!
Disadvantages: None!
...Bat Out Of Hell is an album, which was released by Meat Loaf in October 1977. The album contains 7 songs and is 46:33 long. The songs were produced and written by Jim Steinman and Todd Rundgren. It is the the third best-selling album worldwide - which gives you an idea of just how fantastic it truly is!
1. Bat Out Of Hell (9:48)
2. You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth (5:04)
3. Heaven Can't Wait (4:38)
4. All Revved Up With No Place To Go (4:19)
5. Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad (5:23)
6. Paradise By The Dashboard Light (8:28)
7. For Crying Out Loud (5:45)
I'd heard my brother and dad saying how good Meat Loaf was, but as i didn't really like alot of the music that they do, i thought he would just be another one of these people who scream songs and you can't tell a word that they are saying. Upon listening to the 'Bat Out...

Cricket '97
Advantages: The birth of cricket on the PC!
Disadvantages: Well...it's getting on a bit!!!
...when he sums up what's happened. Other than that, it's Benaud and his many famous idioms.
During the game, considering it's the first of its kind, the options are very good. Each bowler has six potential deliveries, regardless of his action, and the batsmen can play shots all around the wicket, although obviously the delivery will determine which shot you should actually perform.
You can set your field however you wish to, be it an already made one, or a custom one which you design?and whatever you do, Benaud will come out with his own ideas on what you've done, be it good or bad!
The game play itself is somewhat bizarre, as I find with many cricket games. To combat what boredom can come from test cricket, runs are aplenty here - basically to begin with when batting, you'll probably only score runs in boundaries. One error in...

Ashes Cricket 2009 - Guarantee an Ashes win (In your home)
Advantages: Cricket on the Wii!
Disadvantages: Maybe classic matches woudl have been good
...and it not bad at all, but previous Codemasters versions of cricket had classic scenarios, the ability to play World Cup and Champions Trophy competitions, and test series between all of the test playing nations.
Controls

Batting is seemingly clear enough. When the bowler bowls you swing the Wii remote, and add a defensive or offensive touch to the shot by using the A or B button respectively. Running is accomplished by shaking the remote.
Bowling is a little more difficult. Firstly you move the remote up and down to shine the ball, then click on a ball icon. A cursor helps you decide where to pitch the ball, then you move the remote down at the right moment, pressing A for a slow ball or B for a fast ball. If you are a swing or spin bowler, you rotate the remote as you perform the bowling action.
This is actually quite...

Wild Cricket
Advantages: Animals in a Beautiful Setting
Disadvantages: Tranquillity Lost at Peak Times
...The BBC sit-com To The Manor Born, starring Penelope Keith and Peter Bowles, was filmed at Cricket St Thomas. The lovely valley setting of the grounds is where you will find the Wildlife Park. Just south of the A30 between Chard and Crewkerne, in Somerset. It is well sign posted from the main road.
This historic Manor was owned for centuries by barons, then Mr Fry, the chocolate manufacturer bought it in 1897. It passed to two other families before becoming a hotel in 1999 and is now owned by Warners. I will tell you a little more about that later. A free brochure is available in the wildlife gift shop, along with many other leaflets of interest to visitors to the area.
There are three pricing periods for the park, Peak, Off-Peak and Winter. This reflects the fact that like other great attractions, it can become a victim...

Got Wood?
Advantages: Chunky, Light, A hitters delight
Disadvantages: Not for the defensive/classical player, bat-power comes too easily
...Being a love of all things cricket, I have gone through my fair share of bats. I get bored easily or find faults easily. In fact, I often end up blaming poor performance on the bat if times are bad.
So, in a nutshell, a good piece of wood is key to cricketing satisfaction.
This was, unbelievably, my first Kookaburra bat of any description. It was purchased for me by a family member so I cannot honestly be sure of the cost of it but I knew from when I first picked it up that it was of good quality.
Being a very aggressive player, I rely on the bats being chunky in order for them to be regularly hit for the maximum and this bat is definitely chunky alright. A common balancing problem is that a bat will be really chunky and therefore very heavy which makes life uncomfortable for the batsmen, unless they possess extreme power...
