Review of Photographs And Memories (His Greatest Hits) - Jim Croce

The most wonderful town in the world

Advantages: Wonderful
Disadvantages:

...Florence is a city rich in countless artistic beauties. Just considering the historical centre alone, churches, museums, galleries and palaces, each one a fine example of a definite architectural style, can be admired. The following are some of the monuments to be seen in the historical heart of the city: the Cathedral, Santa Maria Novella, the Medici's Chapels, the Academy, Santa Croce, Palazzo Vecchio (the Old Town Hall), the Uffizi Museum, the Old Bridge, 'Pitti' Palace and the imposing Boboli Gardens, a classical example of 'Italian-style garden'. On the outskirts of Florence there are further examples of Tuscany's beauty, with Fiesole's stylish hills or the countryside covered in vineyards and olive trees, where farmers grow local produce sold in various markets in Florence and the outskirts. Only 5 kilometres from...

Battlefield Gets Better!

Advantages: Excellent expansion pack for the original classic game.
Disadvantages: Price

...Road to Rome explodes onto the scene, by making the original Battlefield 1942 even better. If you have Battlefield, you have to get the expansion pack. With six new battles, and two new armies the Italians and the French. Whether you want to fight your way to victory on the Italian or the French front, new weapons and vehicles are provided for you to attack. There are eight new vehicles for you to command around some vast maps. Such as: Battle Of Anzio, Battle of Salerno, Monte Cassino, Monte Santa Croce, Operation Baytown, and Operation Husky. These are all challenging maps with river crossings, steep terrain, church tower hideouts, and gun placements. This expansion pack is a good buy, however at 20 pounds I feel there could of been more to offer. There are some great servers online, which support Road to Rome...

Pescaglia a lil' country in the state of Lucca

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

...As you get further away from the road flanking the river Serchio towards the valleys of torrent Freddana and Pedogna, you will enter the municipal territory of Pescaglia. Pescaglia was first mentioned in a ninth-century document. As early as the fourteenth century, it already had its own podesta and took part in the procession of Santa Croce di Lucca with a flowered candle. The village retains many traces of its mediaeval past; particularly noteworthy are the parish church, the town hall, "the Madonna della Solca", also called "Madonna of the Pebble", a very ancient fresco venerated in a little oratory north of the village. The present municipality includes some typical villages full of quite interesting Romanesque churches and towers: Fondagno, Gello (with a beautiful Romanesque belfry and an ancient baptismal basin font...

My Florence experience

Advantages: Must-go Italian city
Disadvantages: No

...War. Today's bridge, built in the middle of the 14th century, was originally filled with a wide variety of shops that included wool merchants and greengrocers. Nowadays, it's full of shops selling gold and silver and souvenirs. Our next stop is the Duomo and it's the city's skyline symbol. The legendary duomo is famous above for its dome: Brunelleschi's Renaissance masterpiece, completed in 1436, created a double dome shell so that the dome is entirely self-supporting. The frescoes inside the dome depict the Last Judgement. Afterwords, we had some free time to wonder around. After having our daily portion of gelato(a must-do thing when you are in Italy) and some souvenir shopping, we headed straight to the Santa Croce basilia. It does not look as magnificent as the Duomo from the outside but the paintings within the church are some...

Ciao Firenze

Advantages: full of culture
Disadvantages: queues for some places, tiring but understandable

...worth it as David is, well, colossal! Unsurprisingly, there are many churches in Florence worth visiting, most notably the Duomo and Santa Croce. Michaelangelo, Machiavelli and Galileo are buried in the Santa Croce, and these two chirches are unmissable! I wont bore you with a load of cliches, but remember , if you do visit, be sure to cover your arms and legs up or you will be refused entry! If you have the time, try and see the leaning tower of Pisa. as I explained earlier, Pisa is an hour away by train and the service is regular. You will not believe how far the tower leans, it looks like it is about to topple over at any moment! You can read about all else that Florence has to offer in any guide book, so I won't reiterate on what you might have already read. Ill just tell you that I found the city easy to navigate, the women are...

Taormina

Advantages: Beautiful Culture and Scenery
Disadvantages: Mad Drivers in traffic choked streets!

...Taormina - Undeniably special, a very pretty hillside town and one of our favourite Sicilian holiday locations. Although expensive to stay here it is well worth coming here. Taormina is high on Monte Tauro so you have to travel downwards to the two bays below if you wish to visit the beach, Giardini-Naxos. We stayed in Villa Belevdere, via Bagnoli Croce, situated in the cliff, views absolutley stunning of the Bay of Naxos. We stayed here in early September, and loved the gardens and pool. Although there is no restaurant in the evening here, the local trattorias are only a few minutes stroll away. Very busy place during June and September, very crowded with tourists in the main street Corso Umberto, but what an atmosphere! Music everywhere, and street entertainers! Absolutely fantastic. You walk alot here, as it is the best way...

Attenzione !!!!

Advantages: New maps, vehicles and weapons and excellent online play.
Disadvantages: Single player still a bit boring

...?Battlefield 1942 - The Road to Rome? is the first expansion pack for the hugely popular World War II game ?Battlefield 1942?. As I have already reviewed ?Battlefield 1942? I will not give much information here concerning the game play, if you are unfamiliar with the Battlefield series then read my review of Battlefield 1942 first to understand what this game is about. This review is aimed at those who have already purchased Battlefield 1942 and know what to expect from the game. This expansion pack, as you have probably guessed by the title, takes the battle to Italy where the American forces fought against the Germans and the Italians for the first time in World War II. It also gives the player the opportunity to play as the Free French forces in the Battle of Monte Cassino and Monte Santa Croce where they must attack German held...

Review of Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome Add-On Pack (PC)

Still the Battle goes on.

Advantages: Keeps up the high standards set by the first.
Disadvantages: None that i can see.

...BattleField 1942 is already one of the most widly played games across the globe. With the add on pack Road to Rome,BattleField 1942 is pushed forward creating a new front line. It seems that yet again we are heading to the forefront of yet what seems to be another long and vigourous battle to stop good old Adolf in his push for global dominance. This time though it is brought to us with a difference. You can play as the French and the Italians I feel that the game is at the forefornt of what online gaming is all about and with Road to Rome offering 6 new maps all with there own style and unique challenges it is sure to be a winner. The add on Road to Rome is mainly based around an assault on Italy and its islands. Some of the maps that are deffinatly worth a mention have to be Monte Cassino and Monte Santa Croce...

FLORENCE - Magic, in a Roundabout Way

Advantages: More art than you can wave a brush at
Disadvantages: The crowds...oh, and the crowds

...at the Piazza and gazed towards the marbled wonder. Neither of us was mightily impressed with this monument - we couldn't see what all the fuss was about. It was also suspiciously quiet all around. No wonder, we had walked in the opposite direction and ended up at Piazza Santa Croce. To be fair, a pleasant enough building, but not the Duomo. It was only later that we found out that Santa Croce is the final resting place of, among others, Michaelangelo and Gallileo. I then had the brilliant idea of looking at the map and we were soon on our way...the right way. Window-shopping our way along, we soon arrived at the real Duomo and...wow! Any picture I've seen of it just does not do it justice. I had the impression that the different colours of contrasting marble used in its construction tended to look random and somehow unsightly. Not a bit...
