...As usual I'm reading books in the wrong order, I've jumped from Double Cross straight to Cross Country without reading the two or three books in between, but I don't think this has spoilt my enjoyment of this book. Synopsis Alex is called on to help the investigation of the deaths of an entire family, when he gets there he realises one of them is Eleanor Cox his ex girlfriend. Witnesses have mentioned that the perpetrators, although masked seemed to be very young, they could even children. Soon there is another mass killing and once again Alex, Bree and John are called in to investigate, yet again it seems that children are involved. All too quickly Alex discovers that the person they want for these murders has left the country, but Alex can't just leave it there, he wants to bring him to justice for Eleanor?s sake, and to do so...

You would want to travel Cross County to get a copy of this!

Advantages: Great story, great characters

...Ah the return of Alex Cross one of my favourite James Patterson characters (the other being Lindsey Boxer from the Womens Murder Club). For those of you who aren't aware of the character Alex Cross, he is a loveable family man, who sadly lost his wife (she was murdered) and he was left to being up their children. He lives with his grandmother, (effectionately referred to as Nana Mama in all of the books) and the children. Alex Cross is a detective and psychologist. Morgan Freeman played Alex Cross in the film adaptation Kiss the Girls. Cross Country Alex Cross does indeed go Cross Country in this novel as the title describes. Can I go Cross Country now?

Advantages: spacious, comfy, safe
Disadvantages: hardly any

...-road-vehicle. It has the design of the V70, but it?s about 9mm higher then the V70 and it has two aluminum plates in the front and rear, in case you hit some rock, while going cross country. You also have a special silvery knob next to the left seat, so somebody driving with you, can ?brace for impact? when you go off road. (Or in my case, anyway the way I drive). All the instruments don?t give you a too modern looks, but they are easy to use. If you ever tried to change the temperature on a BMW 7-iDrive, you know, what I am talking about. Premier Inn, Charing Cross Glasgow

Advantages: Close to town and all amenities
Disadvantages: none

...I have never stayed in the Premier Inn before, but I felt I had to share my experience of the past weekend. The staff in both reception and the restaurant were fantastic, they were really helpful and made you feel right at home. The room and bathroom were both spotless, warm and the freeview television meant that my daughter didn't miss her soaps while she was away. The bed was both big and comfortable and we didn't have any trouble getting to sleep. We opted for the breakfast deal and we were not disappointed, the food was well cooked and warm there was also plenty of choice. Access to the hotel was excellent for both able bodied and non-able bodied people, we didn't have a wheelchair but we did have a six month old baby and a pram, and even though it is situated next to Charing Cross rail station we didn't hear a thing from...

Advantages: gripping storyline and you won't want to put it down!
Disadvantages: time!

...Well, I don't particuarlly enjoy reading, but I don't dislike it, however if I have the house to myself I love to have a nice warm bubble bath then pick up a good book! I picked up this book the other day in Waterstones for around £5.99, although it was in the junior - young adult section I have heard nothing but good reviews about it! The storyline is about racism and the way that blacks used to be inferior to the whites, but this time it is reversed in this revoloutionary book! Noughts and crosses gives you much of the information you need to know to understand the book, the blacks which are the dominant and powerful race are the crosses, while the whites which are little anad controlled by the crosses are the noughts. Big Country

Advantages: Bryson's dry, stinging wit
Disadvantages: A little repetitive...I say, a little repetitive

...I'm a fan of Bill Bryson. I like his dry, acerbic wit, and the way he bombards the reader with lots of dry facts yet manages to still keep it entertaining. The latest book of his I read (although not the latest written), was Notes from a Big Country. As I said, delivering trivial facts and figures in an amusing fashion is Bryson's forte and when those facts are about the land of his birth (USA), and are compared then related to his once adopted homeland (UK), I can visualize him virtually drooling at the prospect.   Animal Crossing goes urban

Advantages: You get to go to the city, better graphics
Disadvantages: Expensive, not hugely different from the DS version

...After playing Animal Crossing on the DS for a couple of years and finding that the game hadn't lost any of its addictiveness, we decided to get the Wii version. We were unsure what the differences would be between the DS and Wii versions as the only noticeable difference in the TV ads and on the packaging was the subtitle 'Let's go to the city'. I also spied a bus on the adverts that definitely wasn't in my old DS version. The back of the box alludes vaguely to what the differences are, but it didn't really explain it very clearly. However, the lack of explanation and the super cheesy adverts on TV with girls playing over the internet didn't put us off and, as we had some GAME vouchers, we decided to buy it anyway. Review of Animal Crossing: Let's Go To The City (Wii)

Alex Cross is back

Advantages: Better than his last
Disadvantages: Not as strong as earlier work by JP

...his work is back to its usual quality. His chapters are short and sharp but keep the pages turning. The story was a good one and flowed throughout, with the added bonus of ending the book on a great opening for the next one. I did enjoy this and think it is better than his last Alex Cross Novel (Cross Country). However, although still an avid James Patterson fan I find that I am leaning towards his other follow on books with the lead character of Michael Bennett (e.g. Run for your life). I will continue to read James Patterson's work and can only hope that the Alex Cross books continue to catch the audience. This book can be read as a stand alone but I would advise that if you enjoy this, that you try some of his other earlier books....

For the Country in the City - Pollok Country Park

Advantages: Free Entry, Open All Year, Beautiful, Lots to See and Do
Disadvantages: None Whatsoever!

...Would you be surprised to learn that Glasgow has over 70 parks within its city boundaries? It's not known affectionately as "Dear Green Place" for nothing. One of the largest parks is Pollok Country Park. Situated in the southside of the city, just three miles from the city centre, it was voted Best Park in Britain in 2007 and then went on to be crowned Europe's Best Park in 2008. It's a large park at over 360 acres, so even when the sun is splitting the sky (which does happen in Glasgow, you know!), it never feels crowded and you can always find a wee quiet spot for yourself.
