LA Fitness- Northolt

Advantages: nice friendly atmosphere
Disadvantages: dirty showers, bad customer service

...Ive been going La Fitness Northolt since march, got a good membership offer although there was some details the rep did not tell me e.g. i can get a discount because im a student, or the fact that i couldnt cancel my memebrship unless i went bankrupt. customer service is very poor at this branch especially on the phone, otherwise pretty helpfull. ive always had a problem with the music never being loud enough while working out, ive never had an oppurtunity to complain about that e.g. comment/ suggestion cards; this shows that they lack good customer service skills. equiptment nice and up to date yet there never seems to be enough cross-trainers, there is always one of service. ussually overcrowded after 6pm. pool too shallow to enjoy but nice, steam room and sauna nice and updated. easy to settle into a gym like this, very friendly...

Tunturi C30 elliptical. A great deal from Fitness superstore!!

Advantages: Great machine and FS has a great website.great products.cheap.good Customer Service and delivery!!

...I decided to purchase a Tunturi c30 elliptical cross trainer from Fitness-Superstore and this really is the king of crosstrainers so if you have the money go for it. I am 17 stone man, so I am by no means small. I have purchased a few home crosstrainer in the past and I tend to give them a real beasting as you would in a real gym but they simply fell apart. This machine is well built strong and can take 135kg or 23 stone and has survived me! lol, it has loads of programmes, heart monitor and is whisper quiet and I mean quiet!!. Tunturi are simple the best when it comes to cardio equipment so DO NOT waste your hard earned money on anything else, you will be dissapointed!! The machine speaks for it's self and I don't really need to say anymore about it. I have noticed a few comments below about delivery from this company...

Creaking about in my back passage

I am in the habit of going to the gym of an evening and providing the tube is running properly I can get home, make Boyf dinner (trust me, it's safer that way), get changed and scoot off down the Lloyd. Of course, several evenings of 'signal failure' annoyed me to the point that I decided to buy myself some kind of exercise gadget to use when the Underground decided to misbehave. My criteria for this as yet not-sure-what-to-get gadget was that it must be :- 1) Compact. 2) Easy to store (who wants an assembled cross-trainer / bike in their living room all the time?). 3) Reasonably priced. Anyone NOT for tennis ?

Advantages: Easily accessible, good facilities and nice staff

( I have been in other clubs where that is not the case, and it is a pain having to move all your gear to a different changing room if you use gym first, and pool afterwards ! ) Gym facilities are vast - cycles, crosstrainers, treadmills, free weights, other resistence machines, punch bag, dance studio and more. Trainers and personal assistants are always on hand, and are friendly, knowledgable and helpful - although their cheeriness gets pressurised when it is their turn to mop down the machines in the morning!! ...it is. Calibration is necessary however, as the first 10.44KM distance was recorded 9.55KM, though using the software it is very easy to do so and now provides quite accurate results. Whilst running, or walking if it is your preference, the display will show time, distance covered, current pace and calories burned while in use. During each of the workouts I never experienced a loss in signal from the footpod. Though the SportBand is a fantastic device for runners and walkers, it is useless for any other exercise activities such as cross-training, using a stepping machine etc. This would not have been an issue for gym equipment users if Nike offered a manual workout input on their website, which they unfortunately do not.
