***** setting up and potential problems*********
OK, just for info I set my system up to a standard CRT TV using a SCART lead.
The cable for connecting to the TV is split one side is 3 component cables, the other one is 3 component cables that plug into a SCART socket on your TV. On the end of the cable that plugs into the xbox 360 there is a sliding switch to select HD TV or normal TV (like mine!). However - there was a problem with my Xbox 360 when starting up. You are supposed to be able to start the xbox with the remote control, however I needed to press the power button a few times before I could get a picture and eventually I was getting errors on the tv screen (e74). I assumed this to be a problem with my TV at first and wasn't that concerned as once the xbox 360 eventually started it was working fine. A bit of digging around...

Review of Microsoft Xbox 360
Advantages: CRTs still render the best pictures Disadvantages: Too big and ugly
...I guess we have all debated the pros and cons of LCD televisions against the older CRT models. On balance it would appear that both the manufacturer and the consumer have reached the conclusion that LCD televsions are best. Gradually CRT models are being phased out and you will be lucky to find a shop that still offers CRT as an option. You might even ask why I haven't included plasma screens in this debate.
I won't discuss plasma screens here because I think they fall into the same category as LCD screens in the main. There are subtle differences between the two technologies but they both require the digital format, and with screen sizes of 40 inches and above now for LCD, plasma is fast becoming redundant too.
The advantages over CRT screens are obvious and substantial but there are some real and significant downsides too. LCD...
Advantages: Cheap, easy to use, good quality Disadvantages: It's a CRT!
...I've had this monitor for around 2 years now and it is still running in the same condition as when first purchased. I run the monitor at 1152x864 with a refresh rate of 75 Hertz on my Geforce 6600GT with a lower resolution in games to keep my frame rate high.
I know CRT monitors are fast becoming a legacy technology but that wasn't due for consideration 2 years ago especially with the problem of my other monitor failing and me requiring and emergency replacement for less than £100, this clocked in at £60.
The picture quality is always sharp and the colours are of a high standard. The monitor easily pumps up to it's max resolution of 1280x1024 but with the degrading refresh rate of 60Hz, I read somewhere that the lower the refresh rate the more damaging to your eyes a monitor can be so I like to keep mine as high as possible thus...
Advantages: Excellent picture quality and sound Disadvantages: Ok it's bigger than an LCD or plasma...
...In this age of cheaper and cheaper flat creen LCD or Plasma tvs I'd like to just put in a word for CRT tvs. My Panasonic 28" widescreen tv has a sharper, clearer, more colourful and contrast-rich picutre than even the most expensive Plasma and doesn't suffer from any of the pixellation or problems with fast moving scenes such as sport that plagues LCDs and Plasmas.
I'm not sure whether no one else notices or it's a case of "king's new clothes" and no one dares mention that , while their new tv looks very futuristic and sci-fi flat, actually the picture is at best adequate and often rubbish. DVDs may look passable (though the contrast ratios make night scenes grey rather than black) but standard definition Freeview broadcasts, especially on the more compressed channels such as ITV3, are frankly awful. Watch the Champions League on ITV...

Review of Panasonic TX28DK2
Advantages: good picture quality and very cheap Disadvantages: very bulky in comparison with todays TV's
...I first bought this TV as something for me to play my playstation on so I wasn't looking for anything to flashy or expensive. All other 28" widescreen TV's at the time i bought this were for £500 and i picked this beauty up for a bargain at just £250.
I have had this TV for around 5 years now and its still going strong, the picture quality is as good as any CRT TV i've seen and the sound quality is good enough.
Its features are easy enough to use and I think this proves that not all cheap TV's are useless. Its a decent enough size screen so you can still enjoy watching DVD's on it.
The only downside really is the bulkyness of it, when compared to all flat screens of today this TV is a behemoth but for what I picked this TV up for its an absolute gem!!!!...

Review of Goodmans TW28D11
Advantages: Well designed, good quality case and screen Disadvantages: Its not a TFT
...I received a Compaq 7500 monitor with my old Compaq PC about 3 years ago in 2002.
INFO
The 7500 is a 17" CRT screen made by Compaq but made in China.
I don't think Compaq sell these any more but I have seen them on EBAY for about £35 and as little as £16.
DETAILS AND DESIGN
The monitor is all black in design with a silver frame surrounding the screen and the controls. Well really it's not silver but more like a brushed aluminium effect.
This is a standard 17" Compaq monitor with I think a 16" viewable area.
It's shape and design are far better than a lot of newer monitors on the market today. The main back section of the monitor is not that big so you can easily fit the monitor on to the smaller sized office desks you get for home PC's. Rough sizes are 43 cm (H) x 41 cm (W) X 45 cm (D)
I like this monitor for both...

Review of Compaq S 7500
...13 or so years), the picture is as good as it gets in the PC CRT monitor category. Refresh rates are kept stable and flicker free. The brightness and contrast controls are put at 100% in the settings to get a fairly visible picture. In games many monitors tend to be too dark to see properly. If you've got Silent Hill 2 for the PC, you can't see a thing on PC monitors! For that game I'd recommend using video output to a TV. This monitor is fair enough to keep vivid pictures at a viewable brightness. This monitor is free from distortion bands. The picture frame of the actual display area doesn't quite reach up to the white corners and ends up something like a picture within a picture. Also this picture frame is not exactly positioned center either as it is put slightly to the right. That is the fixed viewable picture area. The area within...
Advantages: Incredible range of resolutions to choose, perfect for anything - especially games Disadvantages: Big (expected from a CRT) and very, very heavy
...This is the perfect monitor. It has a big flat wide screen great for movies, games and all other sorts of office works, including graphics design and surfing the web. The only disadvantage this monitor has is that it is big and very heavy (but once you have your monitor on your desk how often do you need to move it?). The biggest advantage would have to be it's ability to display all sorts of different resolutions. As it is a CRT is has no native resolution, so it will display all resolutions properly. An LCD monitor however does have a native resolution which means it has only one resolution which it will display properly, all the other ones it only simulates which leads to terrible picture clarity. You may be thinking; why on earth would anyone want to lower their resolution? and the answer is to play newer games. Games are requiring...
Advantages: all the benefits of LCD, good quality, excellent resolution, size and display, great viewing angles Disadvantages: nothing worth noting
...I've just switched to a flat monitor, or in techie speak, to TFT LCD (thin film transistor, Liquid crystal display) technology. I sit in front of a computer for around 6-7 hours at work every weekday, which means it was about time I upgraded to something that is kinder to my eyes.
LCD screens have lots of benefits:
* They don't emit radiation like the old CRT (cathode-ray tube) monitors
* They consume about half the power of the old CRT monitors
* The colours are generally more vibrant, and the text is rendered with better quality and detail.
* Perhaps the most obvious advantage: they take up a lot less desk space, and since my monitor faces out into a corridor, it means it no longer bruises people when they walk past it
* Less obvious, but still important: the screen size you pay for is actually the screen size that you get...
Advantages: Easy Setup & Excellent picture quality Disadvantages: Remote is a little cluttered
...I reluctantly went looking for a new TV when the day I came back from my holidays my existing TV stopped working.
After looking around to a resonably priced standard CRT television, I came across the Samsung WS28M64V from littlewoods.
After ordering and paying for the TV, it arrived a week later. I would have liked it to arrive within the 48 hours advertised but this does not apply to televisions. So be warned if you are ordering from this supplier.
The TV arrived, after unpacking and placing on my TV stand. I must add here that is is not that heavy compared to a lot of other widescreen CRT TV's. I switched on and was expecting the "Welcome" message, which would then take me through the seup process. unfortunatly this "Welcome" screen was not displayed. So after a quick hunt through the very well layed out and easy to...
