Crucial 4GB USB drive

Advantages: backup, save important work, easy to transfer work or files from one pc to another

...This Crucial Gizmo is great for anyone looking to backup there files up to 4GB. I have had this device for over a year now and it?s been great. You can save anything from pictures, music, videos, Photoshop files, pretty much anything you can think of really to this device. I backed up a few file drivers from one PC and placed them on to another PC, which worked great. This saved the hassle of writing a CD with the files I needed to place on to another PC which I would have probably only used once as well. This device is basically like having 6 CDS worth of data on or just under. The device is really easy to use, you basically plug the device into the USB slot and go to my computer, and where it says Devices and removable storage your device name will be listed e.g. Crucial. Advantages: Good price, prompt delivery, and "fairly" easy to install

I understood that you downloaded a little application that scanned your system and told you exactly what you had got and what you could have. I googled Crucial - the UK site (as there is an American one), and there on the homepage was the download tool (bang in the middle of the page), I pannicked abit seeing a selection of three drop down menus next to this with a zillion choices - but no fear - do not bother with these and just agree to the terms and conditions for the tool and download, within no more than 30 seconds it came up with a page that knew what my PC was the memory that was in it, how many spares slots I had and what memory I could replace this with. A Crucial purchase?

It's Crucial

Never trust anyone who tells you otherwise, especially that dodgy seller who assures you his second-hand 80486 100MHz with 8MB RAM will 'sufficiently meet your ultimate gaming needs' :) Windows (which most of us probably use) is a memory hungry thing, and hogs all it can get. With Windows 95/98, 32MB is recommended to be the minimum, with 64MB giving comfortable performance. Windows ME requires around 128MB for good performance, and if you have Windows 2k Advanced Server you better have 256MB! Advantages: Still fast enough for todays games, Crucials service is 2nd to none, very cheap
Disadvantages: Unavailable direct form Crucials website (but still can be found)

I intentionally ordered early so that I could get it in time for Christmas as I thought this whole online shopping mumbo jumbo could take some time being Christmas and all. How wrong was I! I ordered on Sunday evening 512MB of PC133 SDMRAM and it came early Tuesday morning by Royal Mail Special Deliver (at no extra cost). At that point it really felt like Christmas morning. ...for the privilege of having it professionally installed and it would mean lugging my computer to the shop or sending it away. Since the PC magazines insisted it was an easy job, I decided to upgrade. I chose Crucial just because I'd seen an ad and I decided to try there first. Their website was fast to load and easy to navigate, and I was delighed to see it would help me find which type of memory I needed as I was horrified to see how many different types of RAM there are out there! Sadly I hit a bit of a hurdle, as the pull-down list of manufacturers names didn't list my PC's make. I was a bit disappointed but decided to e-mail them. I told them my system make, processor type, operating system, current amount of RAM and approximately when I bought it, but I was worried this wouldn't be enough. Lo and behold, the same day they'd mailed me back...

At Crucial's UK website http://www.crucial.com/uk/ you can search for the type of memory you need by type and it's very quick and simple to order on-line. If you don't know what kind of memory you need (SIMM, DIMM etc) then you can select what kind of computer you have and it will tell you the kinds of memory which will work in it! A very simple idea, but great for those who aren't sure of what will and won't work in their computer. 'Crucial' Upgrade?

Advantages: Speed, stability, image quality
Disadvantages: No RAM cooling - not much else!

.... The Crucial flavour of the card is close to the ATI reference design, with 128Mb of RAM onboard, a small heatsink-fan assembly and no heatsinks on the RAM. Although 256Mb variants are available in the Radeon range, in practice there's very little software (if any) that can take advantage of such a huge amount of video RAM and, at least for me, was not worth the additional cost on what is already an expensive card. The active cooling is quiet and effective at stock speeds to mild overclocks. For more aggressive overclocking a beefier HSF (or watercooling) plus passive cooling of the RAM chips would be required...but when you see the stock performance you may, like me, decide not to risk your costly new pride and joy with overclocking experiments... In my overclocked AMD Athlon XP 2500+ Barton system, running at 2.4GHz, the card delivers 3d2k1SE...
