Thomson Destiny Cruise Ship

Advantages: Great Value Fabulous service
Disadvantages: expensive excursions, ship a little aged

...We travelled on Thomson Destiny on it's first mediteranian cruise of 2006 on May 4th. We had cruised on this ship previously when it was owned by Airtours and named Sunbird. The Destiny is the biggest in the Thomson fleet. I must say the improvements under the Thomson brand were very much evident. As this was our honeymoon we booked two 1 week cruises, back to back. This cost us about £1,900 with free all inclusive upgrade. We did book an inside cabin as on all my previous cruises I had always been upgraded to an outside cabin. Unfortunately we did were not upgraded and found out on the cruise from passengers that Thomson do not upgrade passengers to outside cabins free of charge. Death Ship, it's no Ghost Ship

Advantages: Good idea
Disadvantages: Badly executed

...The Film Death Ship is a 1980 horror film that opens on the sea with an old ship storming across the waves. It?s seemingly controlled by ghosts and a German voice is heard over the intercom. At the same time on an apparently near by cruise liner a party is going on. The captain of the ship (George Kennedy) is just about to retire and hand over control to Marshall his second in command played by Richard Crenna. The two ships are apparently on a collision course but this is really badly created in the film as whenever you see the old haunted ship its daylight but whenever you see the cruise liner is in pitch darkness. The two ships have clearly been filmed at two different times of day and it?s such an obvious mistake that the audience can?t miss. Anyway, the ships crash and the cruise liner is seen to suffer a lot of damage...

A cruise on Windermere

Advantages: No driving, fresh air, wonderful scenery
Disadvantages: May be a bit wet and windy up top depending on the weather

...Each time we go to the Lake District we go on at least one cruise on Lake Windermere and our last visit was no exception ? we took my mother in law on the journey from Bowness to Ambleside and she loved it! The people who run the cruises are a company called Windermere Lake Cruises ? I bet it didn?t take too long to think of that name! The company runs cruises across the lake between Bowness, Ambleside (Waterhead) and Lakeside. Bowness is a pretty holiday town which is the ?heart? of the Lake District. It has all sorts of shops from the traditional Tesco, Boots, Co-op and clothes shops to shops selling souvenirs of every kind.   A Cruise to remember

Advantages: See all the ancient towns cities and temples
Disadvantages: The heat, but only if you let it grt to you

...During one of our holidays to Crocodile Island at Luxor in Egypt we signed up to go on a Nile Cruise with our tour operator, Thomsons. It was for four days and three nights and cost £330 all inclusive this included an outside cabin, (a window cabin), all meals some buffet some a la Carte, our own guide, (English speaking Egyptologist), all the trips and entrance charges to the temples and museums. We were so excited as we had not planned to do a cruise before we came to Egypt, but we were shown a short film and given all the details at our welcome rep meeting when we first arrived. They made the cruise sound so exotic and beautiful and yes they were right it was everything and more. We were advised on what we should wear and that we would need plenty of water as all the trips to the temples and museums would be at the hottest time...

The Green Ship - A Real Gem

Advantages: Heart warming story, great illustrations, one to read and re-read

...My 4 year old son received this book for Christmas and I have so enjoyed reading it to him that I'm sharing the experience with you all. The Green Ship is written and illustrated by Quentin Blake, who you will probably know from his illustrations for Roald Dahl. As well as providing illustrations for many other children's authors, he has also written his own books, some of the most well known are Mister Magnolia and Clown. He was Children's Laureate in 1999 and generally considered a national institution. Review of Fisher-price Crawl'n Cruise Playground

Abandon Ship.

Advantages: The beginning.
Disadvantages: The rest.

...for a packed multiplex on a Friday night these days, the first few moments of any film are accompanied by a steady chorus of chatting, popcorn munching and sweetpaper rustling. Ghost Ship was no different. The popcorn-chorus was still in full swing when the pink, pseudo-romantic credits were rolling and swooning, classical music flooded the cinema. The camera zooms in onto the deck of the Antonia Graza, a 1960's luxury cruise liner where three dozen passengers are partying on the deck. As we draw closer, a malfunctioning, high-tensile cable whips across the dancefloor, simultaneously and graphically slicing all the passengers in half. Ok, so it's highly unlikely, nay physically impossible, not to mention extremely unpleasant, but it's a stunning sequence nonetheless and at least it stops the sweetpaper rustling dead in its tracks.
