...This review is on the Crystal Palace in London. I worked here with my company some three years ago at the National Sports Arena and spent a lot of my lunchtimes in and around the site which once stood the Crystal Palace and the Exhibition of 1851. This review will be a history of the Crystal Palace and the decline of this famous Victorian landmark. It's Conception The design for the Crystal Palace was by Sir Joseph Paxton and was designed in the incredible time of only 10 days! This was a huge goliath of a building constructed or iron and over a million feet of glass. PALACE FLYING HIGH NOW

...I do not exactly keep it a secret that I am an Exeter City fan ( result at Shrewsbury!), but I also have a soft spot in my footballing life for Crystal Palace. I believe that people should be able to support at least two teams in their life. First you must always have a soft spot for your local team, no matter what level they are. If it is Liverpool or Livingstone, Real Madrid or Rochdale, especially the smaller clubs need your support. In there I also believe there is a place for another team, one bigger in the top few divisions that you watch out for the results, see a few games and generally have a soft spot for. Some may disagree, say you should be loyal to one, some may also call it glory hunting. I have very little time for people who do support team when they are winning. If they buy the shirt they call them supporters...

Partying at the Palace (ish)

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good staff
Disadvantages: A few faults, doesnt live up to expectations

...This review is about my Christmas party experience at the Strand Palace Hotel. This year, I was in charge of organising our office Christmas party, and, being based in South East London, the department tends to head to Bromley or Greenwich for a meal. But this year we decided to go all out, and go 'up west', and so I came across the Strand Palace hotel on my googlequest and we decided to go posh as well. The booking process was slightly tiresome, seeing as the particular member of staff we made our booking through was somewhat challenged in the brains department. The initial booking process was easy. We booked ourselves in for the three-course carvery meal, and then Channy and I (the office babies) were sent scuttling around collecting everybody's cash (£33 per head). Advantages: Good story, one of five books

...V.C.Andrews is a very famous author known primarily for her books The 'Dollanganger Family' one of which is titled flowers in the attic. Most of the books under her name come in fives. Four separate stories which somehow wind together to create a fifth. Crystal is no exception and it is the second instalment to the 'Orphans Miniseries'. The others are known as Butterfly, Brooke, Raven and finally Runaways. Now before I go further I have to break a few hearts. Even though V.C.Andrew is famous for many a book she has personally penned few herself. She did write the whole Dollanganger family series just as she wrote half the Casteel family series and My Sweet Audrina. Credit to Palace

Advantages: Magnificent win
Disadvantages: 2nd leg still to be played at Anfield

...Magnificent win tonight for Palace, they took there chances after being somewhat outplayed in the first half. Liverpool seemed to waste chance after chance and could have had five goals if Heskey and Owen had taken their chances. Its all set up nicely now for the second leg at Anfield, personally I can't see Liverpool missing so many chances again but you never know with cup football do you ? The game provided great entertainment for us spectators and reminded everyone once again how a football match can suprise us all by producing the unexpected. I am sure that the Liverpool manager will have some harsh words to say tonight but lets give Palace the praise they deserve....

Little Cleaning Crystals of Wonderment

Advantages: Cheap, Environmentally friendly, Versatile...they're just great, ok?
Disadvantages: You wouldn't want to sprinkle them on your cornflakes!

...In my eternal quest to try and save money, and allow me to spend more on the finer things in life (nice holidays etc), I've reading up a lot on different ways to shop and save. My latest discovery is Soda Crystals and for this I need to thank Kim and Aggie and my other half being late home, causing me to watch their programme on BBCAmerica (Their show is on 4 times a day in America, can you believe it?). My shopping bill seems to get bigger and bigger and I often find new products I want to try out, or 'need' as they claim to 'better than the rest'. My biggest expense always seem to come from cleaning products, be it limescale removers, washing powder, fabric softener, bleaches and creams, window cleaners, sink and drain cleaners...you get the idea. Then whilst watching the domestic goddesses (Kim and Aggie) they started using this...

A Palace of History

Advantages: Beautiful rooms; Historical'; loads to see
Disadvantages: Huge!!

...Hampton Court Palace is about one of the 60 palaces built for King Henry VIII in about 1513. In my opinion, it must be the grandest and mightiest of all the Palaces with over 1100 rooms, acres upon acres of garden, mazes, tennis and bowling courts. It is located next to the River Thames in London. It took me, my mum and step-dad just 1 1/2 to drive there from Portsmouth. The castle is relatively well signposted and it's mainly straight road and motor way with few confusing turn-off's but then again,this is only relavant from where I am travelling from. We passed through some lovely old villages on the way so the journey was pleasing. You can also catch the train of course - the station is basically right next to it! When you arrive, there is a car park of which, you pay for on departing. It costs £3.50 for 3 hours and an extra 50p...

...Cystal Palace are definately not the team they used to be 4 seasons ago. Most of their top players have left to join better clubs and what was a team that kept going up and down form the 1st to the Prem and back to the first again has now become a team that now struggles to get mid-table. They still have money problems and this season will again struggle to compete for any trophies. I can't see Cystal Palace doing much this season and will be grateful when teams like Crewe and Preston Come to Selhurst Park....

...With Crystal Palaces off the field problems looking to be sorted out once and for all, its time for South London to get behind the Eagles. Speaking as a season ticket holder, I can promise you that a day down at Selhurst will be enjoyable, and entertaining. Last season may have been a struggle, but with a number of highly rated youngsters, the football was quick and attack minded. If you're in the London area around the 20th August pop down and bring the kids, you won't be disappointed as the Eagles play their first home game of the season, a derby against QPR....
