D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router 4 Port
Advantages: Pick up a bargain ?
Disadvantages: Only 4 ethernet ports ?
...Another review from me for a discontinued item, but may be useful if you're loking to pick up a bargain item on ebay...
The D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router has a built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)-enabled phone line, and with its 4 port 10/100Mbps ethernet switch, allows connections to lots of things (check out my other reviews for what it's connected to...). The DCHP server allows automatic allocation of IP addresses to all your network gubbins too - although I've set the IP's for my wireless accesspoint & print server to allow easier access to their brower based interfaces.
The DSL-504 has a browser admin interface too for easy installation and setup, just type in the IP address (the default 192.168.0.1, as with most routers, but if it's changed you can always use the command line...

Dlink Strikes Again
Advantages: 8 Port
Disadvantages: Static.
...Dlink DES 1008D
Why a switch?
Switches are the backbones of a network. They are the devices that at all the computers in the office have no choice but to use. They are a great tool in modern computer networks. The switch allows communication between computers, servers and network printers.
What does a switch need to do?
1. Connect multiple computers
2. Be Fast
3. Be Reliable
4. Be user Friendly
So will the DES 1008D model handle the pressure?
1. Connectivity
The DES 1008D has a total of 8 ports witch means that you could have 8 computers connecting simultaneously, or you could have a variety or pcs, servers, printers, and other networks switches connecting to it.
8 ports will happily support a small office or home based network.
2. Speed
So we have found out that it has 8 ports so what will...

Dlink 5 Port 10BASET HUb
Advantages: value
Disadvantages: none
...The D-Link 805TP is a great hub to use if you have very little desk space available, and need to network up to 5 workstations together either in a workgroup or a LAN environment. The Hub has 5 LED lights on (5th port is the uplink port to connect to your local LAN if you desire). The remaining 4 ports have UTP connections with corresponding LED's. Power is drawn from a AC/DC jack plug transformer. Great value annd a great buy! If you need a hub then this is the one to buy!...

D-link DP-300U for all your printing needs
Advantages: Link upto 3 printers on 1 IP address. Simple setup
Disadvantages: None
...Where I work, we have always purchased the HP Jetdirect print server devices. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding.
The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. At the time we bought them, they were around £80 each.
--Whats in the box--
The D-link print server comes in a very compact box with just enough room for the components. There is the print server itself which is nicely designed to comply...

Go Wireless with D-Link
Advantages: Easy to set up and use, Stable, Good support
Disadvantages: A bit out dated
...The D-Link DWL-G650+ is a PCMCIA wireless (WiFi) card, which plugs into an available PCMCIA slot on a laptop. With this card, it wireless-enables a laptop, assuming it doesn't have built-in wireless already. The card cost me about £25 at the time but you may be able to find the same one cheaper now. Most of these seem to be in this price range if not less, since they are becoming redundant with new laptops already having built-in cards. It's a 802.11G card, which means theoretically, it can transfer 54Mbits/s but they never get to that speed. Most residential broadband connections nowadays only range up to 10Mbit/s.
INSTALLATION
I find the installation of this card has always been very easy. I just install the driver and software off the CD and then plug the card in. This literally takes minutes. Only thing I'm not too keen on is...

D-Link Bluetooth Adapter can make you happier
Advantages: Saves you money, quick transfer from one device to another...
Disadvantages: None till now...
...SE, you have to restart your computer after the install in order to use your Bluetooth.
I love this tool, since I have it I changed all my music from my phone and not only; I can transfer my small videos from my phone into my computer, the same thing with my pictures and voice recordings.
To connect D-Link Bluetooth Adapter with another Bluetooth Device, you have to follow some small easy steps:
- if you have a phone which has Bluetooth, activate it;
- go on the toolbar and look for the Bluetooth icon (this shortcut was automatically made during the installation), once you found it - click the right button from your mouse, go on Quick Connect > Bluetooth Serial Port > Find devices.
- when the device will be found you have to click once again the mouse right button on the small blue icon and go on Explore my Bluetooth Places...

DeLightful DLink
Advantages: 'Free' if you buy the DSL G604T :-)
Disadvantages: Becomes very hot, relatively large for a USB dongle
...offerings to consider. If you have a desktop then you may be better investing in a PCI card with an aerial extension for good reception/transmission. I think these USB dongles are best suited to retro-fitting laptops that came without WLAN or for those people dis-inclined to take the lid off of their desktop.
Note: DLINK have released the DWL-G132 since this model, so if you want proprietory 108Mbps performance take a look at that....

D-Link DWA-140. Dodgy Wireless Ability
Advantages: Wireless N technology is good for speed and data throughput...
Disadvantages: ...but if the adapter keeps dropping out (like this one does) then it is useless
...my net experience.
So...that's alright then. I need not have kept rebooting. All I had to do was pull.... what? You mean that's not a design feature? Ok. In that case it is not up to the job - I want reliability?not a lack of ability.
I summarise the D-Link DWA-140 as follows:
D-Links Woeful Adaptor
Dodgy Wireless Ability
Doesn't Work Always
Dis Was Awful
Don't Want Another
Don't Waste Any (money on this adapter)
Recommend it? That will be a 'No', then
ps I researched the drop out problem on the internet - apparently it is well known so I am not alone in this - you have been warned!!...

D-Link DP-301U
Advantages: Robust, Reliable, Easy to configure
Disadvantages: None
...The D- Link DP-301U is a small compact print server that connects to your Ethernet or Fast Ethernet network. With its USB port, the DP-301U allows those on your network to access and share a USB printer no matter where they reside on the network. We use quite a lot these printer servers at work as not many of our printers do not have built in network connections an as most of our printers have USB connections we need a print server that has USB compatible.
These print servers are very easy to use, are very easy to setup and the user manual that comes with them is very easy understand and to follow. The print server is equipped with one USB version 1.1 port for a connection to most USB printers available ass most printers only support USB. The DP-301U also supports all major network operation systems and protocols. With its compact...

"This D-Link has ceased to be, it is an ex-router"
Advantages: Easy to physically install
Disadvantages: Short working life, loses settings regularly
...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. I did a little research, as I'm not too au fait with this side of computing (though I have assisted in installing one before). Eventually in Pissy Werld (sorry, PC World), I found this package from D-Link. It consisted of the wirless router itself and a seperate antennae (destined for my daughter's bedroom PC). Also in the box were installation CDs for each of the two bits of hardware, a power supply and an additional ethernet cable..
So...
