Reviews of d-link airplus xtreme g
DeLightful DLink
Review of D-Link AirPlus G DWL-G122 by
debcrane
Advantages: 'Free' if you buy the DSL G604T :-)
Disadvantages: Becomes very hot, relatively large for a USB dongle
.... If you have a desktop then you may be better investing in a PCI card with an aerial extension for good reception/transmission. I think these USB dongles are best suited to retro-fitting laptops that came without WLAN or for those people dis-inclined to take the lid off of their desktop.
Note: DLINK have released the DWL-G132 since this model, so if you want proprietory 108Mbps performance take a look at that....

ADSL Modem and Router – the easy option?
Review of D-Link DSL 504T - router by
bristol_steve
Advantages: Router & Modem in one box.
Disadvantages: User interface, documentation, functionality.
...With my last hardware review (of an 802.11g card) I realise I may have lost many readers by simply going in at the deep end… it was appropriate for that review (where only users familiar with wireless networking technology would even consider the purchase) – but the same can’t be said for this bit of kit which represents one way to take advantage of broadband internet over a standard BT phone line. Here I will attempt a gentle introduction to the benefits of buying a router of specification similar to the Dlink 504T – then I’ll expand on the specific shortcomings of this particular device.
The DLink 504T is a combined 4-port Ethernet switch and ADSL modem sporting features for DHCP, DNS, NAT / PAT and Firewall. I consider it mid-priced at about £55 (more expensive than an unbranded unit with a Connexant chipset, slightly dearer than...

What a Beltin' Belkin Router!!
Review of Belkin ADSL2+ Modem with High-Speed Mode Wireless-G Router - wireless router by
mattyprice4004
Advantages: Great wireless range, Futureproof, Nice looking, Fast!
Disadvantages: Some may say it looks a little chunky
...The Belkin first struck me as a bit odd, really. Alongside it in the local PC shop were simpleton designs from companies such as 3COM and DLink for £80-£90, then there was the lovely-looking and future-proof Belkin for £69. Confused? So was I.
Anyway, as you would expect, I took the Belkin to it's new home on a dusty shelf in my room. It was a simple case of Plug and Play really (Not Plug and Pray as with so many other routers). Within 5 minutes of opening the box I was happily browsing the Web, with the router sat happily flashing it's little lights at me from accross the room.
And thats it really - To this day the router lives - and I have had it for 9 months and counting. Not ONE other router has made it past the 3 month mark (I don't know why either).
I have a home-based Web server, and the Belkin makes light work of forwarding...

Baby Bluetooth
Review of Belkin Bluetooth USB Adapter by
debcrane
Advantages: BTv1.2 better for voice, Tiny, very small and did I mention diminutive
Disadvantages: Err...cap can drop off...does that count?
...or in advertising than in reality. If you want to see my review of the much chunkier DLink AirPlus G DWL G122 54G USB dongle please follow the debcrane reviews link). They cannot make the thing any smaller due to the limitation of the size of the USB plug. A nice feature is that the cap to protect the plug can be stored at the opposite end when in use, so it does not get lost (though it can be a bit loose). For those who like blue LEDs you get a nice bright flashing one that tells you that things are happening.
Opening the package you get a CD, a pamphlet and the gadget. Slip the CD into your drive and run the install (you do not HAVE to do this, you can just use built in BT drivers if you have them in your OS). It will install a BT monitoring/control utility into your system, with icons scattered in the usual places for activation. Then plug the gadget...

I can see you everywhere
Review of D-Link 4-Port Wireless Router by
sjday
Advantages: once set up correctly you can forget all about it
Disadvantages: initial setup can be confusing
...It has taken a long time for me to get here but I have finally managed to get myself an wireless network. It took lots of investigation and searching for the right price but I have ended up with a D-LINK 624 802.11g/b wireless router. One of the best things about it is that when you have an compatible Dlink adapter you can have speeds up to 108MB instead of the standard 54MB. Mind you at one stage I was begining to wonder if I was get the network up and going at all. (And I think myself pretty computer literate).
I had hunted around for a long time and finally managed to win an auction off e-bay for this bit of kit. I couldn't wait for it to arrive. When it did I went upstairs and gleefully opened the packet and connected it to my desktop. It should be noted that this device needs to be connected to another computer that has internet...

D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G520
Review of D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G520 by
canalla
Advantages: Very quick and easy to set up,
Disadvantages: Shorter than claimed 100m Range, Some configuration problems in Windows XP, No Linux Support
...After recently purchasing a new computer, I decided to jump on the bandwaggon of Wireless Networking. After a rather failed attempt with a previous setup , I discovered the new offering from D-Link - the DWL G520. I bought two for the fairly hefty price of about £120, and they installed without a problem.
However problems started occuring when one of the computers was moved slightly further away, the cards failed to find each other. After a quick e-mail to the D-Link customer support this soon was fixed, by decreasing the speed to around 48Mb/s. This didn't make much of a change to the performance. However when i decided to move one computer downstairs over the opposite side of the house, the cards failed to find each other even by reducing the speeds to 1Mb/s, this distance is much less than 100m. Any e-mails sent to D-Link, were...

Review of D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G650 by
D-Kill
Advantages: Good Speed *** Linux Support
Disadvantages: installation
...After some adds of the 108Mbps capabilities of the DWL-G650 and DWL-520 cards I decided to buy one.
Unlucky me! I received the DWL-G650+ and DWL-520+. Apparently, these are the versions D-Link reserves for out-side the US. Trying to upgrade to 108Mbps as promised in the adds was unsuccessful. I didn't even find any info on the G650+ cards on the .COM website. Mails to D-Link remained unanswered. After some research in the newsgroups, I found out the following :
The DWL-G650+ and DWL-520+ are using a different chipset than the G650 (the "+" is very important). You will not find this info on the D-Link website because the "+" has two major implications :
1:because the G650+ uses a cheaper chipset (Motorola) it has currently no 108Mbps support as its bigger brother does (G650, no "+").
2:because of this chipset it has a very poor...

Solid 108G Wireless Card
Review of D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DWL G520M by
robosapien
Advantages: Good reception, good drivers, good file transfer speed
Disadvantages: No Vista support
...Having become very disillusioned with the stability of USB Wireless devices while doing more than just web browsing, I decided to turn to a PCI solution.
My home router supports 108Mbps MIMO, so bought a PCI card which can make full use of this - namely the D-Link AirPlus XtremeG GWL G520M.
At the time of writing this, they're available for £40-£50 from most online shops, but Tesco.com bucks this trend and is selling it for £19.97 plus £4.85 for next day delivery. A totally flawless purchase, which also earned me some Clubcard points.
The device installs easily into a spare PCI slot. The enclosed design adds to the feeling of quality.
The drivers on the CD are the latest available, and identical to the ones from Windows Update's online repository.
Having owned 2 Atheros based USB devices before I was a little bit nervous of how...

Dlink 5 Port 10BASET HUb
Review of D-Link DE 805TP - hub - 5 ports by
darkteckno
Advantages: value
Disadvantages: none
...The D-Link 805TP is a great hub to use if you have very little desk space available, and need to network up to 5 workstations together either in a workgroup or a LAN environment. The Hub has 5 LED lights on (5th port is the uplink port to connect to your local LAN if you desire). The remaining 4 ports have UTP connections with corresponding LED's. Power is drawn from a AC/DC jack plug transformer. Great value annd a great buy! If you need a hub then this is the one to buy!...

Buffalo's Brillant
Review of Buffalo AirStation Wireless-G Broadband ADSL2+ Modem Router WBMR-KG54 - wireless router - with AirStation 54 Mbps Keychain Adapter by
craigcheats_uk
Advantages: Wide range of connection,Supurb Firewall In Built, Easy to use, Small and Stylish
Disadvantages: only up to XP capatible, Vista driver soon hopefully
...I recently bought one of these routers after my dlink blew up, I was told by a friend that buffalo made excellent wireless routers and he wasn't wrong, this router works brillantly.
This router has wireless access, including 4 ports intergrated for any ethernet cable needs, its small and easy to place anywhere without it looking out of place, It has a 54mbps data transfer rate which is rather good for todays router standards, a 2.4ghz frequency band, which means it can be recieved over a good distance, but the distance can be changed using the easy browser setup.
It has many data link protocols incluing Ethernet, Fast Ethernet. IEEE 802.11b, IEEE 802.11g.
It also has many features to this device as, Firewall protection (never had a virus since using it), auto sensing per device, DCHP support, auto uplink, IGMP snooping, Stateful...
