"This D-Link has ceased to be, it is an ex-router"

Advantages: Easy to physically install
Disadvantages: Short working life, loses settings regularly

...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. I did a little research, as I'm not too au fait with this side of computing (though I have assisted in installing one before). Eventually in Pissy Werld (sorry, PC World), I found this package from D-Link. It consisted of the wirless router itself and a seperate antennae (destined for my daughter's bedroom PC). Also in the box were installation CDs for each of the two bits of hardware, a power supply and an additional ethernet cable.. So...

D-Link DSL-2542B - router is a HOT buy !

Advantages: Cheap
Disadvantages: It does not work correctly - at least mine

...Purchased it from Amazon and tried on our line. Main problem was: disconnecting! ADSL is perfectly fine and I am also an IT Technician. Old modem and others 'still' work fine and they are back in place. I was trying to modernise and get ready for ADSL2 an this modem should have worked fine on normal ADSL too and it gets dangerously hot in my view and after 2 emails with D-Link they did not reply any more to me avoiding the problem. So, I sent it back to Amazon and asked for a full refund - not Amazon fault and thinking that it was at 'only' £. 24.99 and no postage, that should have been a warning ! I hope for D-Link sake, it was only mine faulty and it is not a normal way or working for this modem. It does not mean other modems are faulty, mine was and I asked D-Link to send one out (just the modem) and pick up...

D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router 4 Port

Advantages: Pick up a bargain ?
Disadvantages: Only 4 ethernet ports ?

...Another review from me for a discontinued item, but may be useful if you're loking to pick up a bargain item on ebay... The D-Link DSL-504 ADSL Router has a built-in ADSL modem - plugs directly into your ADSL (Asymmetric Digital Subscriber Line)-enabled phone line, and with its 4 port 10/100Mbps ethernet switch, allows connections to lots of things (check out my other reviews for what it's connected to...). The DCHP server allows automatic allocation of IP addresses to all your network gubbins too - although I've set the IP's for my wireless accesspoint & print server to allow easier access to their brower based interfaces. The DSL-504 has a browser admin interface too for easy installation and setup, just type in the IP address (the default 192.168.0.1, as with most routers, but if it's changed you can always use the command line...

D-Link DSL G624T, There Back At It!

Advantages: Built-in Modem, Versitile, Easy to use / Setup, Vertical Stand
Disadvantages: None as of yet

...I have owned, sold and setup many routers over past year, the home wireless age is truly here. D-Link have now brought us the G624T!, At almost half the size of the previous models and now featuring a vertical stand, D-Link have certanly set the bar high. For many home users, the idea of setting up a wireless modem router may be scary, nothing could be simpler here because as usual D-Link have provided a very quick and simple method of installing your new router without the need to dial into the router though your browser and spend hours restarting and saving (Belkin!). It is also important to note that the G624T features 'click n connect' technology which in simple terms means that adding clients takes just two clicks! The G624T hosts many features, such as an integrated firewall for added security, 4 built-in 10/100Base...

Good value router

Advantages: good signal. great value
Disadvantages: can be difficult to set up

...I bought this wireless router in December to not only remove all of the cables in the living room but to share the connection on 2 laptops. The initial set up of the router caused a few problems and eventually had to set everything up manually, I found the user guide from the dlink website very helpful with sorting out the set up problems although this does give step by step instructions for various problems, I feel it is not suitable for people with little knowledge of computers. After the initial problems setting up, I have had few further problems with this product. The signal is good throughout the house and only very occasionally drops connection, although I believe this was due to the initial positioning of the router and since moving it sllightly the router has not dropped connection. The router comes with a stand to place it in...

D-Link Air Plus Xtreme G+ DI-624+

Advantages: Easy & Quick Setup, Cheap, Game Mode
Disadvantages: Walls Constrict Wi-Fi Range

...I bought this router on eBay for £20. I used this to connect 2 computers to the same internet connection to save running another lead through to the new computer. I plugged the router in and connected it up to a computer and read the instruction manual which is very useful. It comes with a wizard that gives you step by step instructions on how to configure the router with your internet connection, so I ran this and it worked fine. The instruction manual is also very good in telling you how to set up different restrictions on the router to allow certain computers to connect to it wirelessly. After about 20 minutes I had both computers working with the internet connection. I also wanted to use this router to connect computers together wirelessly to create a network so games can be played on individual workstations. It is so easy to...

Get D-Link'd!

Advantages: Small, Easy to set up, can route up to 4 PCs...
Disadvantages: Time has to be reset sometimes...

...Hey there you jolly, lovely people! I'm here to tell you all about the D-Link DSL G604T! I'm a little technologically impaired, so what does this do? It's simple: this gives internet access to multiple computers (you have to have a internet set-up with a company first, like BT). Wow, sounds great! But how fast can the internet speed go up to with this thing? You can get an internet speed of up to 100.0 Mbps, although it varies depending on which service you subscribe to, and the speed of your computer. Is it easy to set up? Yes, it is quite easy to set up, as I believe you get a CD which helps you in the installtion process. If you are finding it hard, you can receive help at most good computer stores. Are there any set-backs to this thing? Yes, there is one major set back: the internet can stop working sometimes (I think...

Go Wireless with D-Link

Advantages: Easy to set up and use, Stable, Good support
Disadvantages: A bit out dated

...times it's been unstable is when the wireless router / Access Point isn't working properly. Transfer rates, as expected are not as fast as when using a wired connection (using Cat5 network cable). On my 2Mbit ADSL connection (capable of up to 230KB/s), speeds typically start off between 100-200KB/s but seem to start to drop to around 90KB/s. This is while the laptop is about 50cm from my router so it's nothing to do with distance or obstructions. It's not top speed but it's still pretty quick. It does exactly what it's supposed to and does it well. It's easy to use as once set up, you just connect to your network or Internet as usual, just without wires. SUPPORT The drivers, software, and manuals are on the CD included but if you ever lose the CD or want updated drivers and software, then they can be downloaded from the D-Link...

Review of D-Link Air DWL 650+

*ROUTER-TOOT-TE-TOOT! Latest . .

Advantages: No wires obviously!
Disadvantages: Will only go through so many brick walls.

...This is still going strong after a good period of testing. Here we have a review is on the D-Link wireless AirPlus G kit. (silly name but a good product) model DWL922 it contains everything you need to go "wireless" As a mere technophobe, even I managed to get it installed, although yet again, I required the help of the helpline, but that is what they are there for. The kit was purchased from good old PC World at a cost of £45.99 although it goes without saying that you will get them cheaper somewhere. This was bought for NTL, so it may not be suitable for some other networks. The mimimum system requirements are:- * Cable, or DSL Modem with ethernet port.Comp with windows, *MAC or Linus based operating system - with an installed ethernet adapter. * A USB port. * Windows XP, 2000, ME or 98SE. * At least 300 Mhz & 32 Mb...

Review of D-Link AirPlus G DWL-922 Wireless Network Starter Kit - wireless router

D link - A decent setup

Advantages: Price
Disadvantages: The Usb stick didn't work

...I have set up 2 wireless networks with this router, it is incredibly easy to set up, literally just point and click. My home network includes ADSL 512kbps connection though Tesco Broadband - £17 a month uncapped, this comes in through the normal phone socket and through a 'microfilter' that seperates the internet from the normal phone line, you need to put one of these on every telephone point - one for each device, these cost about two pounds each - I have about 4 in the house. The line then comes into the back of the router and I have a wireless card in each of the 4 laptops I have around the house. The signal works well even through 4 or 5 brick walls, in a clear space it will work within 100m - even down the end of the garden. To setup the router all you have to do is enter in the details of your adsl - username and password...
