...my net experience. So...that's alright then. I need not have kept rebooting. All I had to do was pull.... what? You mean that's not a design feature? Ok. In that case it is not up to the job - I want reliability?not a lack of ability. However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding. The D-link is a 3 port print server, 2 ports are serial with the other being USB. This means that upto 3 printers can be attached to the print server at any one time. Go Wireless with D-Link

Advantages: Easy to set up and use, Stable, Good support
Disadvantages: A bit out dated

...The D-Link DWL-G650+ is a PCMCIA wireless (WiFi) card, which plugs into an available PCMCIA slot on a laptop. With this card, it wireless-enables a laptop, assuming it doesn't have built-in wireless already. The card cost me about £25 at the time but you may be able to find the same one cheaper now. Most of these seem to be in this price range if not less, since they are becoming redundant with new laptops already having built-in cards. Disadvantages: Becomes very hot, relatively large for a USB dongle

...offerings to consider. If you have a desktop then you may be better investing in a PCI card with an aerial extension for good reception/transmission. I think these USB dongles are best suited to retro-fitting laptops that came without WLAN or for those people dis-inclined to take the lid off of their desktop. Note: DLINK have released the DWL-G132 since this model, so if you want proprietory 108Mbps performance take a look at that....

...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. Advantages: Simple set up, price, no drivers to mess with, no gimmicks

...I needed an ethernet modem to allow "always on" connection for my Apple Airport network. Up till now I've been using a Speedtouch USB and internet sharing to the wireless network via the attached computer. The disadvantage here was that this computer needed to be left on as long as an internet connection was required. I chose the 320T because it was simple, reasonably future proof (ADSL2/+) and I didn't need a wireless router. I got a good deal (under £15) from a reputable eBay powerseller on this item and after a couple of minor issues I'm now happy with its performance and stability. First problem was a software compatibility issue with Airport. I could get the modem to work through the ethernet connection on the computer but not the WAN port on my Airport Extreme base station.
