...The D-Link DWL-G650+ is a PCMCIA wireless (WiFi) card, which plugs into an available PCMCIA slot on a laptop. With this card, it wireless-enables a laptop, assuming it doesn't have built-in wireless already. The card cost me about £25 at the time but you may be able to find the same one cheaper now. Most of these seem to be in this price range if not less, since they are becoming redundant with new laptops already having built-in cards. It's a 802.11G card, which means theoretically, it can transfer 54Mbits/s but they never get to that speed. Most residential broadband connections nowadays only range up to 10Mbit/s. D-link DP-300U for all your printing needs

Advantages: Link upto 3 printers on 1 IP address. Simple setup

However, when we bought a whole load of Magicard badge printers we found out after several painful days that these only worked with the D-link DP300u print servers due to some strange setting within the printer. With this information, we were forced into buying the D-link blind with no time to do any background research or fact finding. Disadvantages: Becomes very hot, relatively large for a USB dongle

...offerings to consider. If you have a desktop then you may be better investing in a PCI card with an aerial extension for good reception/transmission. I think these USB dongles are best suited to retro-fitting laptops that came without WLAN or for those people dis-inclined to take the lid off of their desktop. Note: DLINK have released the DWL-G132 since this model, so if you want proprietory 108Mbps performance take a look at that....

...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. D-Link DSL-2542B - router is a HOT buy !

...Purchased it from Amazon and tried on our line. Main problem was: disconnecting! ADSL is perfectly fine and I am also an IT Technician. Old modem and others 'still' work fine and they are back in place. I was trying to modernise and get ready for ADSL2 an this modem should have worked fine on normal ADSL too and it gets dangerously hot in my view and after 2 emails with D-Link they did not reply any more to me avoiding the problem. So, I sent it back to Amazon and asked for a full refund - not Amazon fault and thinking that it was at 'only' £. 24.99 and no postage, that should have been a warning ! I hope for D-Link sake, it was only mine faulty and it is not a normal way or working for this modem. Archos 605 wifi

Advantages: Great size screen, generous amount of memory, simple interface
Disadvantages: Chunky design, not as portable as some devices,

...have a problem with the unit freezing but a recent firmware upgrade cured this problem. Also pressing the "lock keys" button at the top of the handset used to cause it to reset however this has been rectified by a firmware update. Overall this is a massively competent real alternative to the Ipod and should be considered by anyone looking for a feature heavy portable media player but avoided by those put off by its size or unfamiliar interface. Plugins can be purchased to enjoy this unit to the full extent priced in Euros and available from the Archos website they do extend the features greatly ( Web browser allowing the unit to use its Wifi and an access point to become internet enabled), though without them it does not prevent it from being a serious contender....
