D-Link Air Plus Xtreme G+ DI-624+
Advantages: Easy & Quick Setup, Cheap, Game Mode
Disadvantages: Walls Constrict Wi-Fi Range
...I bought this router on eBay for £20. I used this to connect 2 computers to the same internet connection to save running another lead through to the new computer. I plugged the router in and connected it up to a computer and read the instruction manual which is very useful. It comes with a wizard that gives you step by step instructions on how to configure the router with your internet connection, so I ran this and it worked fine.
The instruction manual is also very good in telling you how to set up different restrictions on the router to allow certain computers to connect to it wirelessly. After about 20 minutes I had both computers working with the internet connection.
I also wanted to use this router to connect computers together wirelessly to create a network so games can be played on individual workstations. It is so easy to...

Good choice for a wireless router
Advantages: Small, space-saving, good value for money and effective
Disadvantages: Can be intimidating at first, may need an extra cable
.... As I am running Windows XP I didn't need to install anything, so after following the very detailed step by step instructions found on the CD, I was almost done.
After running a simple D-Link configuration wizard, I had wireless internet access on my laptop. File/printer sharing was a bit more tricky. After spending nearly two days unsuccessfully trying to get it sorted, I called in a professional friend who does this for a living, and who took one look before turning off my Sygate Pro Firewall, and then everything was sorted just fine. It was very difficult to configure the Sygate program to allow network access to the desktop, so I have uninstalled it. My friend assures me that the firewall security included with the router will be more than sufficient to protect my network, and I have also discovered that the Windows Firewall...

A Reliable High Speed Wireless Router
Advantages: Full featured Wireless Router
Disadvantages: Requires TCP/IP knowledge to make full use of router
...The D-Link DI-624 has proved to be the reliable router as advertised, but only after the latest firmware upgrade.
I've had this router for over a year now. The reason for its purchase was to setup a WiFi network during a conference. The DI-624 proved very disappointing upon purchase, when most of the wireless devices had problems connecting to it. All this changed when D-Link issued an updated firmware, which may be obtained from their website.
PERFOMRANCE
The latest experience with this router came during February 2005, during another conference. This time the router was setup once and forgotten during the whole of 15 days that the conference ran. Performance was very good. The DI-624 has a 4 port LAN connection as well. To these ports I had a total of 30 desktop computers connected (though other switches). At times there were...

"This D-Link has ceased to be, it is an ex-router"
Advantages: Easy to physically install
Disadvantages: Short working life, loses settings regularly
...Back in March 2007, I bought my first laptop. This brought the number of computers in our house up to a grand total of three (my own desktop, my daughter's and the new laptop). It struck me that perhaps it was time to get networked. A hard wired network was out of the question, as I didn't want to start drilling holes and running cables everywhere, so a wireless solution seemed to be the way to go. I did a little research, as I'm not too au fait with this side of computing (though I have assisted in installing one before). Eventually in Pissy Werld (sorry, PC World), I found this package from D-Link. It consisted of the wirless router itself and a seperate antennae (destined for my daughter's bedroom PC). Also in the box were installation CDs for each of the two bits of hardware, a power supply and an additional ethernet cable..
So...

A router is a router unless its this one
Advantages: Amazing Range
Disadvantages: Data transfer can get clogged up by walls
...I got broadband about 3 yrs ago and as you do with one pc you just use a cable then the wife said "I want my own pc" so being the man of the house i gave in. Dilemma....... if you have 2 pc's in one house were one is upstairs and one is downstairs how do you get both pc's on the internet hmmmmm........ oh yes a wireless router.......... and i couldnt have picked a better router if bill gates himself turned up at my door and jammed a microsoft product in my hands and said "this one is on us"
EASE OF USE
I have to say that for being a novice networker at the time it was daunting to say the least when i got the router home and unpaked it but following the step by step instructions made it easier..... (having a technophobic wife pecking your head while your trying to help her get on the internet doesnt help) After...

D-Link DSL G624T, There Back At It!
Advantages: Built-in Modem, Versitile, Easy to use / Setup, Vertical Stand
Disadvantages: None as of yet
...I have owned, sold and setup many routers over past year, the home wireless age is truly here.
D-Link have now brought us the G624T!, At almost half the size of the previous models and now featuring a vertical stand, D-Link have certanly set the bar high.
For many home users, the idea of setting up a wireless modem router may be scary, nothing could be simpler here because as usual D-Link have provided a very quick and simple method of installing your new router without the need to dial into the router though your browser and spend hours restarting and saving (Belkin!). It is also important to note that the G624T features 'click n connect' technology which in simple terms means that adding clients takes just two clicks!
The G624T hosts many features, such as an integrated firewall for added security, 4 built-in 10/100Base...

Good value router
Advantages: good signal. great value
Disadvantages: can be difficult to set up
...I bought this wireless router in December to not only remove all of the cables in the living room but to share the connection on 2 laptops. The initial set up of the router caused a few problems and eventually had to set everything up manually, I found the user guide from the dlink website very helpful with sorting out the set up problems although this does give step by step instructions for various problems, I feel it is not suitable for people with little knowledge of computers. After the initial problems setting up, I have had few further problems with this product. The signal is good throughout the house and only very occasionally drops connection, although I believe this was due to the initial positioning of the router and since moving it sllightly the router has not dropped connection. The router comes with a stand to place it in...

Netgear DG834G Wireless ADSL Router; perfect home solution
Advantages: Reliability and value for money.
Disadvantages: Operating temperature.
...In my opinion this broadband ADSL router is one of the best on the market considering its price.
I have been using this model (I've had different versions) for a number of years and never have I known one to fail; this is especially impressive considering I never turned them off when in use. I am a very heavy internet user and when configured correctly delivers on the speed that you would expect.
In terms of 'plug and play', there is very little needed to be configured on this product to start surfing away and it comes with a single quick start sheet that shows clearly how to access the configuration page through a web browser initially.
For more advanced users it is very easy to configure port-forwarding (useful when playing online games or downloading via peer-to-peer to achieve the desired connection speeds). It even supports VPN...

*ROUTER-TOOT-TE-TOOT! Latest . .
Advantages: No wires obviously!
Disadvantages: Will only go through so many brick walls.
...This is still going strong after a good period of testing.
Here we have a review is on the D-Link wireless AirPlus G kit. (silly name but a good product) model DWL922 it contains everything you need to go "wireless" As a mere technophobe, even I managed to get it installed, although yet again, I required the help of the helpline, but that is what they are there for. The kit was purchased from good old PC World at a cost of £45.99 although it goes without saying that you will get them cheaper somewhere.
This was bought for NTL, so it may not be suitable for some other networks.
The mimimum system requirements are:-
* Cable, or DSL Modem with ethernet port.Comp with windows, *MAC or Linus based operating system - with an installed ethernet adapter.
* A USB port.
* Windows XP, 2000, ME or 98SE.
* At least 300 Mhz & 32 Mb...

Buffalo WBMR-G54 wireless router - a real buffalo?
Advantages: Reasonable price, easy to use, lots of advanced settings
Disadvantages: installation firewall issue, signal strengh only reasonable
...I bought this router from a local Argos shop at an emergency situation i.e. I want it now and therefore not at the best price - 49.99.
Reason: My all singing and all dancing Dynamode R-ADSL-C4W-EG - wireless router had lost its main function, 'internet connectivity' after a month or so of continuous use (see my other review, now updated, for details). All is left is wireless communication i.e. useless. The return of this router back to Amazon caused me a week (lots of emails + recorded delivery + check that the refund includes the recorded delivery etc)
For Argos, there is an obvious advantage - if there is something wrong with it, I just take it back for a refund/replacement on the same day.
This router comes with detail instructions (step-by-step) for installation however it does not cater for the presence of a firewall...
