Review of DaDa - Alice Cooper
Advantages: Might learn something about Buddhism Disadvantages: Written in dialect, hard to read
...I bought this book a couple of months ago after reading a positive review in a magazine. However, there was something slightly important that the review left out. But first;
'Buddha Da tells the endearing story of a working-class Glaswegian man who discovers Buddhism, rejects old habits and seeks a life more meaningful, only to alienate his immediate family in the process'
So all sounds good, I was interested in this because I recently studied the Dalai Lama and found Buddhism and everything surrounding the DL fascinating. The book arrived, nice looking cover, 344 pages so not too long, then I read the first page.
Now, I read A LOT - but this totally threw me. The book is written in Galswegian dialect, here's an example;
"He'd dae anythin for a laugh so he wid; went doon the shops wi a perra knickers on his heid, tellt...

Review of The Da Vinci Code (DVD)
Advantages: Cheap, central to both areas Disadvantages: Not much hot water and no air conditioning
...The Quinta Da Bellavista apartments are situated right in the middle of Albufeira, with a good 15 minutes walk to either the old town or The Strip, which is regarded as the new town and where all the night life and action is.
The reception, pool area and bar are on the opposite side of the road from the apartments. We checked in (23rd June 08) and had to give a deposit of 50 euros this was to cover any damages and would be refunded at the end of the holiday. This deposit was not mentioned in the holiday brochure so beware of this when you go.
The apartment was clean and tidy, with non of the signs of squashed mosquitoes on the walls. you find a bunk bed in the hall way right opposite the toilet, i'm not sure I would have wanted to sleep there. In the toilet there is a bath, with shower, sink and foot bath. There is a mirror...

To open up the album you have them doing a song which reflects the fact that New Jack Swing was ended so although you could class it as this, but they seemed to be finding a place between what was then considered to be "played-out" with something new for everyone to move on to , without reflecting its immediate past. ...The 4-star Hotel Da Vinci lies just on the other side of the River Arno from the town centre of Empoli. It's an easy walk from the hotel to all that the town has to offer, unfortunately that's not really an awful lot. On the plus side, it's an easy hotel to find - exit the superstrada 67 (or FI-PI-LI, Firenze-Pisa-Livorno) at either the Empoli east or west junction, follow the by-pass to the bridge, and turn right (or left) for Vinci.
In case those instructions are too hard to follow, it's signposted all the way from the SS67 exit.

Who is Herbie Hancock?? Well, he was born in 1940 and by the tender age of 11 was considered somewhat of a piano virtuoso. In 1963 he received a life changing phone call from Miles Davis asking Herbie to join his band "The Miles Davis Quintet".
