Pure 1500 handheld DAB / FM Radio

Disadvantages: Navigator button too small, On the expensive side, No case included with radio

...I purchased a Pure 1500 Handheld DAB / FM Radio and had it for one week as I did not get on very well with the buttons. I consequently found something else in its place. Here is the lowdown of the Pure 1500 handheld DAB Radio. What it does: FM and DAB with RDS (Radio Data System) which displays the radio broadcast data, ie: The station name, song data, artist data etc. Rechargable battery which boasts to last for upto 24 hours using DAB. 20 Presets (10 FM stations and 10 DAB stations which means your favourite stations can be stored and accessed at the touch of one button. 5 EQ Settings Hardware: The casing is made from metal and was slightly bigger than I was anticipating. Review of Pure Digital Pocket DAB 1500

The Pure Highway saved my life

Advantages: Very Portable and very easy to use
Disadvantages: Suffers from poor signal in some remote areas

...I use the Pure Highway every day in my truck and I have to say it is brilliant. It tunes into a spare FM band on my in cab radio and sounds first class. It is so easy to use and looks great as well. The Pure Highway fits into a small space on my windscreen out of the wiper swipe and keeps me legal. The Highway takes its power from the cigarette lighter and has an internal Arial that is fixed to the windscreen. I found this system ok for most journeys but when I was in more remote parts of the country I suffered from digital drop out. The pure allows you to fade this rather than here that awful screeching sound. I eventually purchased an outside Arial that fits on the cab roof via a magnetic base. This allows me 100% coverage all over the UK so far. I rely on my Pure Highway every day and I have to say it has never let me down...

Pure Digital Evoke 3 DAB Radio - top sound for a portable radio

Advantages: Great sound, great features, record to SD card
Disadvantages: Can't record one station whilst listening to another, no MW and not the most intuitive to use.

...I pondered for ages trying to decide between the Roberts RD55 and Pure's Evoke 3 as I wanted something that had functionality to pause and rewind, record (specifically to SD card), play FM stations, have stereo sound and play MP3's as well as one that gave great sound and could carry base and wouldn't distort at high volumes but I couldn't find anywhere on the net that compared the 2. I knew the Evoke 3 had won loads of awards but that was in 2006 and with it being 2008 I realised technology would have moved on so the newer RD55 could have improved or equal quality sound without having won any awards. In the end I realised the only option was to actually go into a shop and listen to the sound for myself (having a baby I'd put off doing that as it can be such a mission to get out these days!). PURE ONE DAB

Advantages: Great sound, attractive, easy to use.
Disadvantages: No carry handle.

...Wow! What can I say, I bought this in 2007 for £49.99. It is an excellent DAB Radio and depending where you are there are about 32 stations. The radio is light, small and easy to carry on long-distances. Attractive, mine is black. The night-light display is easy to read and after about an hour you will learn how to use all the functions and options. It receives FM and DAB. It does not have a carry handle so it is not as practical as some. With a lovely clear tone and a a one watt speaker, it is loud enough. The first one I bought was fine until a week later it wouldn't turn on. So, I took it back and got a replacement , the salesman saying he's never come across a faulty PURE. Anyway, my replacement as been absolutely brilliant. I have bought my father one and he has had no problems with his either. Highly recommended....

Review of Pure Digital Pocket DAB 1000

So far so good

Advantages: Cheap, easy to use
Disadvantages: Needs an external aerial to get full advantage (in my case anyway)

...I used to have a DAB radio in my old Vauxhall Vectra company car & when it came to replace it I went for a Toyota which doesn't have a DAB as standard (£1500 upgrade with sat-nav, rear camera etc) even though it has a DAB button so I went for a Pure Highway, as previously stated these take up more space on the windscreen with cables everywhere. I came up with the solution of fitting it into my centre console armrest, out of sight, open the cover to change channels, luckily my armrest has a 12V socket & a Aux in so I don't have to use the FM transmitter. Unfortunately the aerial cable was too short so I bought a 2.5mm connector 2m extension cable off e-bay. I tried the windscreen mounted aerial in several windows, I relly wanted to put it in the side quarter panel (I've had windscreens replaced on most of my cars so didn't want to...

...had previously been notoriously poor. A slight change in the direction of the wind seemed to affect all but the strongest of signals. There also seems to be an ever increasing number of pirate radio stations pumping out the latest "bangin' tunes" and pleading me to call them on the mobile - unfortunately it interferes with all the stations that I've paid my license fee to listen to!
