Reviews of daewoo
excellent deal
Review of Daewoo by
maryjo
Advantages: Excellent deal
Disadvantages: few
...We have owned new Daewoos for the past 6 years, and have been very pleased with the excellent Daewoo deal. Can you name another car manufacturer who will offer 3 years warranty with 3 years free servicing plus free courtesy car, 3 years AA cover etc.? Our first new Daewoo was a Nexia, and we changed that after 3 years for a new Lanos. We have been delighted with both cars, and particularly with the excellent service from Daewoo. We were most fortunate to receive 3 years free insurance with our first car too, which saved us around £1000!
Daewoo is the best deal around !...

Daewoo - Microwaves
Review of Daewoo KOR860A Microwave by
A.K.A
Advantages: Good Quality
Disadvantages: Not too many features
...Are they really any good? The model I purchased was KOR-61AP/WH in white. The microwave is 800 watts and contains 5 power levels. Daewoo are a Korean company who if Im not misktaken are in receivership. Surprisingly though my microwave has never had a single problem and has been outstanding value for money! The Microwave was only £79.99 and purchased from Dixons. I know from experience never to purchase items from electrical shops but because its easy and quicker I always seem to do! Overall though not a bad microwave, and one I would recommend!...

DAEWOO FROM GRAYS OF SITTINGBOURNE
Review of Daewoo Nubira 2.0 CDX by
PANZER
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Image
...I purchased my 2.0L Daewoo from Grays of Sittingbourne. I was
I was a bit sceptical about buying a Daewoo, but was
impressed after the test drive and bought it. The car
is economical for a 2.0L, nippy, comfortable for a
family of 4, has a big boot, two air bags, air conditioning
radio cassette. The seats are covered in an attractive
cloth that cleans easily. There was an eighteen month
warranty left on the car. Since I got it there have
been no problems bar an oil leak as the seal on the oil
filter was faulty. This was replaced on demand. Touch
wood nothing else has gone wrong and i have done 2000
mles so far....

I bought a Daewoo Nexia Gli
Review of Daewoo Nexia by
blackmamba
Advantages: none
Disadvantages: too many to list
...In Septemder 1996 I bought a nexia gli from the daewoo dealers in Telford what a huge mistake that was,I am disabeld so my car is very important to me,
i had heard that the daewoo was a good buy and that you get a lot for your money.
My advise would be to any potential Purchaser would be DONT BUY IT.
The sales people were very good and did a very through Job,ie 3yrs free servicing 3yrs free aa cover.
The car is quite comfortable to drive. not very good on petrol consumption,5000 miles I needed new tyres, 15000 a new exhaust, regular servicing did not prove very good at all ,the helfulness from Daewoo was none exsistant after i had bought the car, 41/2 yrs down the line and six months still to pay 18500 miles I have a leaking cylinder head gasket,My big end is gon, this car now sound's like a bag of nails, wont pull up the smalest of hills...

Alright now!
Review of Daewoo (Shop) by
frankieboy
Advantages: Value for money
Disadvantages: Customer services have in the past been problematic
...I first purchased my Daewoo PC on the basis of Daewoo's level of customer care and reliability in other spheres of their businesses especially their cars. The PC worked well up until early January, I purchased it in September 1999, and then it crashed completely. Then things went from bad to worse. My contact with Daewoo's call centre (or I am led to believe their sub-contractors)led to an endless list of excuses or broken promises as to when the PC would be repaired. They were also not forthcoming with an address for Daewoo in the UK for me to complain direct. Comet, from where I purchased the product, were unhelpful and kept on directing me to Daewoo, although I suppose it had been 4 months since my purchase, but also they should heed customers comments, so as to protect others and their good name. Eventually, the message must have got...

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing
Review of Daewoo Lanos 1.6 by
BEALINE
Advantages: Fixed motoring costs, gutsy car with sporty feel, good extras
Disadvantages: Painted bumpers, plasticky interior, not much stowage space
...Why choose Daewoo? Our Renault Clio had reached the stage at five years old where fault after fault developed. We needed (a) a slightly bigger car as it is our only one and our childen are bigger (b) to control our motoring costs and (c) to deal with an honest and reliable garage. All three considerations were met in full and we have a gutsy car to boot - the bhp compares favourably with the Ford XR3 as was (only things missing are the go faster stripes!!!) The air condition fitted as standard was a (literally) refreshing surprise!
The only motoring costs for the first three years are tyres! Everything - servicing, parts, labour and even the full RAC cover are provided. When work is required, if Daewoo are given advance warning or if an urgent problem has developed, they will provide a loan car. (The onus is on you to request...

Daewoo's and Drums
Review of Daewoo Lanos 1.4 by
chrisidavis
Advantages: Great, reliable and economic car
Disadvantages: No longer in production
...Yeah, the daewoo Lanos is a great small car....
....or so you think.
You see these cars aren't actually that small. I've had mine since 1999 and it is still serving me well. I am a musician, and a percussionist at that, so I have racked up about 50,000 to and from gigs in the last 3 years. However, I have never had to utilise the tow bracket on my daewoo. Why? Because everything fits in just fine. Admittedly things would be a little more difficult if you had the 3 door rather than the 5 but they are spacious cars.
Just for an extreme example, I have had My Drum Kit (Bass drum, snare, 2 toms, cymbals and hardware box), 2 tour timps, a xylophone, a vibraphone and a glock in my daewoo, AT THE SAME TIME!. OK so there was not an inch of space left but it all went in and got me to the gig safely.
These cars aren't being made new any more...

Customer service not so hot
Review of Daewoo Nubira 1.6 by
Deva
Advantages: Nice car easy to run
Disadvantages: Customer service
...I have had a Nubira for 12 months and on the whole I have found it a nice car to drive cheap to run and comfortable.
The customer service is however not too good. I recently had a problem with opening the trailgate and as it was coming up to 2 years old I booked it in for the second year service.
For those who dont know Daewoo usually work out of a Halfords they dont have many stand alone premises.
I went in to Halfords spoke to the Daewoo rep and booked the car in for a service and boat repair the next week. I asked how they were managing (Daewoo had had alot of financial problems) and was told there was no problem General Motors were taking over the firm and the future was secure.
I duly took the car in this Monday and the Halfords people were very helpful. The told me Daewoo had packed up and gone the Friday before told noone...

High and mighty
Review of Daewoo Matiz SE by
winprizes2000
Advantages: worry free motoring, good package
Disadvantages: noisy at speed
...The Matiz has established itself in the UK as one of the top selling city cars - an impressive feat in a market sector that has recently expanded to include rivals from Vauxhall, Seat and VW.
The Matiz is a "happy" car with the front grille and lights replicating a smiley face.
Owners have much to smile about too - the Daewoo aftercare package is well documented and is the main reason some of its other models find owners. The Matiz is a more complete car than the others in the Daewoo range - it is well equipped with excellent cabin space - though the miniscule boot suffers as a result of providing space for passengers.
The 800cc engine is tiny but produces a reasonable horsepower output - it is however noisy when pushed.
To conclude this mini mpv with its high roofline and worry free ownership is an ideal city car and one that deserves...

I love my Lanos !
Review of Daewoo Lanos 1.6 by
maryjo
Advantages: Sporty design
Disadvantages: alarm costs extra
...I am the proud owner of a Daewoo Lanos 1.6 auto and I have never had so many compliments about a car!! I bought it new in March 2000 and I believe it is a fabulous car. It has a sporty shape and metalic paint as standard - mine is an unusual Evergreen, and everyone (male & female) tells me they love the colour! It is a dream to drive - very smooth and very nippy. It is easy to park and ok on petrol. Of course the Daewoo deal is excellent. I did have to pay extra for an alarm, which I feel is a necessity.
I think this is an excellent car for you if you care about your image. It looks good, handles well and is very good value for money....
