Langdale Pikes Report
Advantages: Beautiful scenery, fresh air...
Disadvantages: None
...Suddenly, you find yourself in the Lake District? You are heading along the A592 with Windermere to your left. You look to the north and in the distance you see a curious mountain formation. Two hill tops strangely positioned against each other. What is that? You wonder. It is ? or should I say they are - the Langdale Pikes. And today, constant reader, I am going to take you by the hand and guide you across this beautiful terrain. Hope you have brought your boots and some food and water. Best make you sure you have your waterproofs too, it can rain a bit here, as I am sure you might know.
We move onto the A593, heading towards Coniston. But before Coniston we turn right for Dungeon Ghyll (B5343), where our destination is. If you have arrived here not knowing where the Lake District is, then I shall briefly tell you that the Lake...

Christopher Pike- final friends trilogy
Advantages: long, lasting and thrilling read
Disadvantages: none
...Christopher Pike is an absolutely fantastic writer, i have read many of his books and have been sad to finish them. Final friends takes you through 3 books:
Final Friends 1- the party
Final Friends 2- the dance
Final Friends 3- the graduation
In the first book of the trilogy, a young girl called Alice dies from an aparant suicide at her own party but her close friend michel thinks otherwise. He thinks she was murdered. The books then follow the lives of Alice's friends including Michel who has taken the role as a detective to find out the truth about his friends death. More people die, others get hurt but eventually the truth is revealed.
I loved all three of these books, they kept me hooked all the way through. These are not just your average mystery thrillers, they are much more. Pike does not just focus on the one issue...

That pain is old, it has seen a million dawns.
Advantages: Amazing author, great writing style, great charecters
Disadvantages: Some sex scenes
...This is not like my usual reviews recently, I sat down to do a music review tonight and just wasn't able to write one for some reason. Ciao has only just accepted this product proposal, never done a book review with this much information before, tell me what you think. Rating's appreciated as are comments.
For those of you wondering about the title, the book starts off with this wonderful quote and I really thought it was quite fitting. Coming up with a decent title was hard, so I chose this. It's by an unknown author.
Christopher Pike- Falling
I remember the first time I read a Christopher Pike book, I was around 11/12 and it was the first book I've ever read that it didn't have something kiddy or a romance tale to it and I was hooked. Pike is most famous for his teen-thrillers, which is what a lot of my book collection...

"Don't tell him Pike"
Advantages: Timeless comedy Gold
Disadvantages: NOTHING
...ladies man and the unspoken father of ?Pike?. Nothing ever gets Arthur flustered except perhaps bad manners.
Clive Dunn as
Lance Corporal Jack Jones
Jack is the local Butcher who had his own catchphrase of ?They don?t like it up Em? and ?Don?t Panic!?. A stickler for following the chain of command and so, a strong, sycophantic, supporter of Capt Mainwaring.
John Laurie as
Jock Frazier.
The local undertaker and stereotypical dour Scot. Mean with his money and takes every opportunity to put down Capt Mainwarings preening and pompous strutting. Similarly has a catchphrase, ?Where doomed?
Ian Lavender as
Frank ?Stupid Boy? Pike.
Wet as dishwater and molly coddled by his mum, Mrs Pike and suspected son of Arthur. Pike generally breaks things all falls in any available water.
James Beck as
Joe Walker.
Joe is a bit of a Spiv...

The Roof of England
Advantages: A must for mountian lovers in England - anywhere!
Disadvantages: NA
...At 3210 feet (977m), Scafell Pike is one of only four 'three-thousanders' (mountains over 3000 feet) in England. It is also the highest mountain in England. Not too grand a height, when you think of the Alps of Switzerland, France and the like - or even closer to home Scotland - but if you ever do scale this mountain, believe you me, you will know that you have climbed a mountain!
Scafell Pike is situated in the mid to southern end of the English Lake District. Millions flock here every year and walking in general has become more popular over the last few years. It is nestled between other grand mountains, with equally grand names, such as Great Gable and Pillar - names that spur on thoughts of adventure and action.
Popular routes to this mountain are from Wasdale Head, Borrowdale, Eskdale and Great Langdale. These villages...

Pike and Zander Fishing
Advantages: Great fishing, not expensive
Disadvantages: cold and bleak
...Here is an excellent venue for the serious angler keen on a bit of sport hunting Pike and Zander. Cambridgeshire and Lincolnshire provide some of the best waters for Pike in particular. The drainage system on the Fenns provide excellent waters for the angler. These drainage channels or Drains as they are known run literally for miles. This particular venue is known as the 40 foot Drain and intersects the 18 foot drain. Fishing here is wonderful.
Live bait works best although artificial lures, spinners or dead bait also work well. My best haul to date is 10 fish between 6 and 15 pounds in a 6 hour stint during November 1996. No zander though they were all pike.
The drains are very open to the elements and it gets very bleak and cold up there so you need to wrap up warm and make sure you take a flask or your tea making things...

"The dream became a nightmare..."
Advantages: you'll keep reading to find out what happened
Disadvantages: loose ends tied up a bit too nicely...
...reliving that night months ago at a house party when Robin got sick.
What's worse is that someone else wants to know what happened at that house party, and who is to blame for Robin's condition. Someone who will not rest until they find out the truth to exact their revenge...
+ MY OPINION (which is the only opinion worth knowing, obviously) +
An excellent Pike book with more characters than usual, but each crafted well enough to stand out in their own way. Robin can do no wrong even before the 'accident' and doesn't seem to have a bad bone in her body, Park is a bit of a prick for ditching her and going with easy Angie, Lena is rather likeable despite being the popular bitch, Kerry is a bit pathetic/pitiful with a chip on her shoulder, Angie's a tart with no morals, Sol is the bad boy but with more going on than he shows. Bert... well...

Review of Weekend - Christopher Pike

Protection, Pike-style
Advantages: Pace, action, intrigue
Disadvantages: Very much of the genre, which won't suit everyone
...interested?
Suddenly Larkin finds herself the sole witness in a federal investigation, which is bad enough, until people start shooting at her.
Enter: Joe Pike, the ex-marine, ex-cop, ex-mercenary who has previously featured in Crais's PI Elvis Cole novels. In this outing he takes centre stage as the man ("I am not a bodyguard") hired to keep Larkin safe.
When the first two safe-houses are almost immediately compromised, Pike realises that there must be inside information reaching the hit-men and he can trust no-one. He drops under the radar and resorts to his own rules: hit hard, move fast, and take down the hunter: all the while trying to tame the resentful, spiteful, and at times unbelievably stupid, Larkin Barkley.
Characters from Pike's past (& Crais' previous novels) come and go, and for someone who hasn't read any...

A great place to experience Northwest culture
Advantages: Good food, unique craft products, good portrayal of Northwest culture, lively
Disadvantages: Expensive parking, overcrowded on weekends
...Since its opening in 1907, Pike Place market has been the place for local farmers, bakers, butchers, and all sort of crafts people to showcase their products. From fresh Washington apples, to the famous fish market, it is one of the best places to sample Seattle?s unique cuisine. The market itself is full of produce stands containing fruit, vegetables, pastas, honey and jams, flowers and various crafts. A definite must see is the famous fish vendors who throw the fish back and forth as customers watch. Below the market are various shops selling trinkets and collectables and restaurants serving ethnic foods as well as local staples such as salmon and clam chowder. The market can get extremely crowded on weekends, particularly in summer, so I would recommend a weekday visit. While it may seem a little gritty or deteriorated, to me this...

Let's get Snappy!!
Advantages: All the basics explained.
Disadvantages: Slightly poor picture/sound quality
...Before I start on the review of this dvd I must admit that I'd never heard of the presenter, Paul Gustafson. However his achievements are gob smacking, and his ability to regularly catch double figure pike with relative ease is astounding.
The Pike (Esox lucius)
=
As you may or not know the pike is a freshwater predator. It has a powerful streamlined body
which allows it to attack its prey with explosive bursts of speed. This makes it one of the most exciting and powerful fish for the freshwater angler. It's natural diet is wide and varied and can include... live fish, ducks (and other small water birds), frogs and dead fish. It's mouth contains over 600 sharp teeth so ordinary monofilament will not do for the terminal tackle, instead wire traces are used.
With that said lets look at what's on the dvd...
