FREE DVDs
Advantages: Free trial, large choice, post included, new realeases
Disadvantages: see review
...I like movies and I like freebies, so when you get offered both in one swoop you?re bound to accept! I used my two week free trial with this company and remained with them for a couple of monthsbefore moving on to try many other companies free trials (and winning a new DVD player on Tesco DVD rental site on their free trial offer). I then had an email from DVDs 365 asking me to go back, and offering me a free DVD if I did so. I had just left Tesco (with my new DVD player) so I chose to go back with them.
∆◊◊ THE SERVICE THEY OFFER ∆◊◊
Basically it?s like going to a video shop and hiring films on DVD, except you don?t pay for each film you chose ? rather a monthly fee for which you can watch as many movies as you can fit in, for us this is usually around 8 a month (2 a week usually weekends...

The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown- Ancient Mysteries
Advantages: A good read
Disadvantages: Part of the plot is not too convicing
...and takes both of them to his hiding place. He tortures Robert in a breathable oxygenated water tank and leaves Katherine bleeding to death. Robert finally tells him the secret and he then takes Peter with him to unlock the Ancient Mysteries and to finish the final step of his enlightenment.
Just when you think that it?s the end of our hero, the CIA arrives at Malakh?s nest and rescue Robert and Katherine. They also manage to get to the scene before Malakh could kill Peter as a sacrifice to finish his master plan. This ends tragically for Malakh but Peter is saved.
And finally, in the last 20 pages or so, Peter, who understands it all, take Robert to place where the Ancient Mysteries is buried.
Personally, I have to admit the momentum of the story is quite slow to start up with and Dan has used a lot of flashback in this book such...

Angels and Demons - The Book by Dan Brown
Advantages: Good story, Rome, mystery
Disadvantages: None
...When the Da Vinci Code Book by Dan Brown was released it caused a storm. The book was a worldwide bestseller that has sold 80 million copies as of 2009 and that has been translated into 44 language. Most people, I know me included always thought this was his first novel. However, his first novel was actually Angels and Demons which was released in 2000. The Da Vinci code was released in 2003.
The Angels and Demons was made into a movie in 2009. However, the film differs quite a bit from the book in that the film is a sequel to the Da Vinci Code whereas the book is the first in the story.
The story really focuses on the age old discussion of science versus the church and which is right and the scandals surrounding that quest for truth. A vial on antimatter is stolen from a Nuclear Research facility. At the same time, the world is...

Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54
Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
...At first I wasn't convinced by up-scaling DVD player technology but was persuaded after reading an article in "What Hi-Fi? Sound and Vision" magazine. Unable to afford a Blu-Ray player my sister and I bought the Panasonic DVD-S54 to match our parents brand new Panasonic TX-32LZD80 LCD television as their Christmas 2008 present. Admittedly it was a slightly selfish purchase as we both live at home and wanted to watch DVDs on the big new TV ourselves! We bought the player from the electrical retailer Comet for about £100 just before Christmas so there were no discounts applied.
On Christmas day when opened we found a relatively small box tightly packed with the player in polystyrene packaging. All the components such as cables, remote and manuals were well presented in their own protective plastic bags, to keep them protected. The player...

Has Dan Brown A Hidden Agenda?
Advantages: A cracking good read.
Disadvantages: tainted by allegations of an "anti-Christian" agenda
...~ ~ A comment on my previous review of the thriller ?Digital Fortress? by American author Dan Brown, who also wrote the bestseller "The Da Vinci Code", gave me pause for thought. It was along the lines that Dan Brown was using his novels to promote an ?anti-Christian? agenda. In particular, it's alleged by many people that his most bitter vitriol and criticism is saved for the Roman Catholic Church.
Obviously, as I am both Christian and Catholic (in that order) that notion caused me some concern, so I went off to investigate the claim in a bit more detail to see whether or not it was true, and if the claims had any substance. I read my third novel by Dan Brown, ?Angels and Demons?, with a far more critical eye than I had read the previous two as a result of having taking on board this perceived anti-Christian agenda which he...

Dan and family welcome you to their world
Advantages: Amusing in parts, musical score, Carell/good cast & performances
Disadvantages: plot is a bit too slow/confused - Its not sure if its a comedy or a family drama?
...- Cast & Crew -
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0480242/fullcredits
- Plot -
Dan Burns is a widowed single parent who has to raise three young-ish daughters (Jane, Cara and Lilly). He encounters many problems with them rebelling, as they spend time with his family and try to move on. Away from family life, in Dan's work life, he's a well-respected newspaper columnist who some local people thank him in person for the interesting insights into family life and ways of dealing with typical family problems, that he provides in his column.
While his job prospects get better as he's in with a chance of being syndicated, things just seem to get more and more awkward in his family life, as he realises that a lady he saw in town, that he flirted with and has feelings for, is actually a close relatives girlfriend.
- Genre...

The Gospel According To Dan Brown
Advantages: A cracking good yarn
Disadvantages: It's full of holes and poorly researched
...~ ~ For the past few months American author Dan Brown has been topping the paperback bestseller lists here in Ireland, with all four of his published novels in the first four positions, the ?Da Vinci Code? seemingly a permanent fixture at No. 1. To be honest, it?s not hard to see why, as all four novels are taut, exciting, and extremely well crafted conspiracy thrillers, and there?s nothing the reading public likes more than a damned good conspiracy to get the old juices flowing.
~ ~ In the most celebrated and most recent of his novels, ?The Da Vinci Code? (2003), Brown returns once more to the theme he successfully exploited in another of his novels, ?Angels And Demons?, namely the Roman Catholic Church and, according to Brown at any rate, its multifarious and devious machinations to exploit the public and the entire world for its...

Un by Dan Black - Unveiled
Advantages: Catchy, covers upbeat to emotional, and very good single release Alone.
Disadvantages: Doesn't cover any new ground or set itself apart
...-of-the-ground grey area of the forgettably average. I was really ready to whole-heartedly enjoy this album, but I just didn't. There were times when I almost did. It definately stuck in my head - and it had a good beat. But that wasn't going to be enough for me. I don?t think Dan should call his album ?Un? unless he's planning on making genre-warping, perspective-altering musical strides. I hate to be mean because he seems like a stand up guy. Top marks for effort, but frankly - Uninspiring....

Angels and Demons... Dan Brown... another fantastic book
Advantages: Fantastically written, brilliant story line and leaves you wanting more.
Disadvantages: Certain parts might not be for the faint hearted.
...I can no longer count on one hand how many times i have picked up Angels and Demons and red it cover to cover. Everytime that i read it i get something new from the book. I think that the way Dan Brown writes is incredible and even though i know what is coming, his words still have me nail bitingly sitting on the edge of my seat in anticipation. In my opinion the storyline in Angels and Demons is incredible, although you don't want to quite believe that it could be true, i found myself weeks after still wondering if it really could happen. Dan Brown has a way of writing that makes me really feel like i am there in the book and was involved with the story, i found myself gasping and was fully animated while reading the book. The story is both foul and brilliant at the same time, it had me cringing and disgusted about some of the things...

Dan Greenpeace and DJ Yoda - classic turntablists
Advantages: amusing, classic tracks, well put together
Disadvantages: possibly a bit short, but only because it leaves you wanting more
...Dan Greenpeace and DJ Yoda are apparently great friends. The work together running a radio show on Xfm and also make beautiful music together. ?Unthugged? is one such outing, not to be confused with ?unthugged the essential mix? which is also a good album ? but a completely different one.
Those that know DJ Yoda will be familiar with the setup in this album. Its much of the same and just as awesome, cuttin? and pastin?, choppin? and scratin? is the name of the game and its done well. Ugly Duckling are featured one again, kicking off the mixtape with the hilarious ?meat shake? an imaginary tale about a fast food company that sells, yes, you guessed it, ?meat shakes?. This is just a slice of the pie. The rest is just as brilliant. ?Yoda meets the Mr Men? does what it says on the tin as DJ Yoda scratches off with the Mr Men theme tune...
