...When Now Dance 2000 was released a little over a year ago, I was immediately interested. I knew that the quality of the Now compilations was certainly above average to say the least, and as dance was and is one of my favourite genres of music, it caught my attention almost straight away. After receiving the album for Christmas 1999, I can say that it is one of the best, if not the best compilation album I have ever got. It is vibrant and energetic, and contains so many of the best hits of that year that it really is a must-have. And this one beats it. Lt Dunbar Dances With Wolves

Advantages: amazing acting and storyline, gorgeous scenery and music
Disadvantages: May be too long for some

...Dunbar was great. He started off as a proper US Army soldier and was always turned out correctly in his uniform but as the film moved on it was nice to see him change and mellow. He manage to show so many different sides to his character and I loved watching him grow. He worked very well with all of the actors playing the Sioux Indians. The Sioux Indians came across in a very good light and I loved watching and learning how they loved and took care of each other. There were some aspects of them which I was not too keen on, like when they painted their horses for battle and the scary looking dances they did around their fires but this was their way of life so I had to accept it. The main Indians which we saw were Holy man and the white woman who was raised by the Indians. They gave excellent performance sand really moved me at times...

2001: A Space Odyssey review

...2001: A Space Odyssey is a sci-fi film made in 1968, directed by Stanley Kubrick and written by Kubrick and Arthur C. Clarke. One of the recurring themes in this film is evolution. The first 30 mins or so have no dialogue at all, and focus on a very distant point in our past, when a group of herbivore apes are attacked, and one is killed, by a leopard. They are also driven from their water hole by another tribe, so they sleep in a rock crater overnight. When they wake up, they notice that a huge black monolith has appeared in front of them. They are very curious as to what this is, and one of them touches it. Not long after, this particular ape remembers the monolith and realises he can use a bone as a weapon to defend himself. So they go back and kill the tribe that took over their water hole and, jubilant, the aforementioned ape...

...Dirty Dancing is just one of those films that everyone is expected to have seen. Now obviously the fact that I am writing this review lets you know that I have seen the film and so I am definitely one of those people who just presumes that everyone else has seen it. Dirty Dancing was released in 1987 but is set in the Summer of 1963. It stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the lead roles of Johnny Castle and Frances 'Baby' Houseman. The summer of 1963 sees Frances holiday with her parents and older sister in America's Caskill Mountains. Almost immediately she is swept off her feet by the talented and extremely sexy dancing heartthrob that is Johnny Castle. It's all about the dancing!

...Dirty Dancing has to be one of my all time favourite films. I have watched it so many times and each time I enjoy it just as much as the last time. It hasn't got the greatest of story lines but it has the best soundtrack ever and some absolutely captivating dancing! The film stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey who play Johnny and Baby. These two characters could not be more different from one an other - he from the streets and she from a privileged background - but they end up meeting and falling in love, although with a lot of misunderstandings along the way! The film is set in the 1950s and takes place at Kellermans which at the time seemed to be the ultimate holiday expoerience - a very up market Butlins type of holiday!
