First Dance. First Love. The Time of Your Life.

Advantages: Superb soundtrack
Disadvantages: A simple chick-flick so not for those who like comlexity

...Dirty Dancing is just one of those films that everyone is expected to have seen. Now obviously the fact that I am writing this review lets you know that I have seen the film and so I am definitely one of those people who just presumes that everyone else has seen it. Dirty Dancing was released in 1987 but is set in the Summer of 1963. It stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey in the lead roles of Johnny Castle and Frances 'Baby' Houseman. The summer of 1963 sees Frances holiday with her parents and older sister in America's Caskill Mountains. Almost immediately she is swept off her feet by the talented and extremely sexy dancing heartthrob that is Johnny Castle. Advantages: Enjoyable movie, with a good cast and good dance scenes

Striclty Come Dancing - Can You Sit On The Sofa For Two and a Hal

It's all about the dancing!

Advantages: fantastic film
Disadvantages: none

...Dirty Dancing has to be one of my all time favourite films. I have watched it so many times and each time I enjoy it just as much as the last time. It hasn't got the greatest of story lines but it has the best soundtrack ever and some absolutely captivating dancing! The film stars Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey who play Johnny and Baby. These two characters could not be more different from one an other - he from the streets and she from a privileged background - but they end up meeting and falling in love, although with a lot of misunderstandings along the way! The film is set in the 1950s and takes place at Kellermans which at the time seemed to be the ultimate holiday expoerience - a very up market Butlins type of holiday! Good dance DVD for beginners

Advantages: Fun, great music, basic and easy to understand
Disadvantages: not so good to "get fit", too basic at some points

...I've literally just finished the end of this DVD and thought Id write the review whilst it was still fresh in my mind! Pineapple Studios Everybody Dance does what it says on the tin "Learn To Dance, Get fit, & have fun!" - but only just. The choreographer is really good, and her credibility is backed up by the fact that she has worked with stars like the Sugababes, Rihanna and Mary J Blige. You definitely warm to her, shes not patronising, and you do feel part of the dance class whilst she is teaching you the moves! There are three main routines that she teaches you, each with a chorus and verse - "Maneater" by Nelly Furtado, "SOS" By Rhianna, "Aint No Other Man" by Christina Aguilera and "Beep" by The Pussycat Dolls. The DVD also includes other extras like meeting the dance troupe, make up tips etc as well as a full routine...
