...Where is Spot? - By Eric Hill I absolutely adored Spot books when I was younger and couldn't wait to pick up some for Jack as it seems he is becoming a right little book worm! Luckily a colleague of mine who has a couple of older children was passing on some books to me and in amongst the piles she gave was a couple of Spot books. Of course I couldn't wait to read them myself let alone get home and share the experience with Jack. The book itself is a board book so the pages are nice and thick and easy for small fingers to turn the pages over to the next one. This book is a lift the flap book so not only is it great fun but it makes the child feel like he is playing a part in the book if it is being read to them. Advantages: Still to the high standards of the first film
Disadvantages: 152 minutes in length!

...Gordon off to a tee. Gordon as a character has a destiny and I hope that in the following films that this plays out to entirety. Oldman's performance in The Dark Knight is spot on. The saddest part of the cast is the late Heath Ledger; we all know that Ledger passed way earlier this year. His input into this film is staggering. ...oxy on the spot is definitely spot on when it comes to combatting those zits. I had tries many things in the past but this seems to be the best yet. I may be older and less prone to 'them' now but when I do it zaps the little buggers. It contains an ingredient called benzol peroxide (if I spelt it wrong I know what I mean) which dries them up and really works. It could be due to this ingredient that it is expensive but although it is a small tube don't be alarmed. Unless you smother yourself inch thick in the stuff every night then it will last for a relatively long time-a few months maybe. It may not work for everyone as everyone has a different skin type which will react differently to differently creams. Due to the harsh agent in this cream it could cause irritation, but I found that rather than drying my skin like I would assume...

Intro Having decided that I needed some more books to read I consulted the charity book list at work (books for the bargain price of 25p) and came across "Darkly Dreaming Dexter". I was aware that there is a TV series called "Dexter", so consulted Amazon to see if this was the same thing, and found that it was! Review of Darkly Dreaming Dexter - Jeff Lindsay

The Dark Place

Advantages: PI character, Belfast setting, a cast of potentially interesting characters
Disadvantages: Characters not really developed enough

...mostly felt quite detached from the story. Millar makes an effort to establish his detective as a sympathetic character ? a dark past, a father, an ex-wife and teenage daughter, a current romantic interest, thwarted literary ambitions, a sense of humour and regular discomfort from his piles ? but he stays a fictional character. Millar uses a lot of quotations from other literary works, Irish, American and English, 16th and 20th century, but for me the references to Raymond Chandler only made me feel disappointed that Karl Kane isn't really Belfast's answer to Philip Marlowe. The most emotionally moving scenes in the book involved Karl and his father, and these are not central to the main story. I would probably try another book in this series if I came across one, but wouldn't actively seek one out. I am more tempted by the author...
