Life on Earth - David Attenborough

...After watching lots of David Attenborough on 'Animal Planet' I bought a set of dvds for my boyfriend of 'The Life of Mammals'. We went a bit David Attenborough crazy and decided we were going to buy all of 'The Life Collection' series. This was the second box set from David Attenborough that we bought. This series basically tells us about the development of life on our planet over 3.5 billion years! It is an amazing piece of work. The dvd set has four discs with a total of 13 episodes on them. The dvds have a total running time of 11 hours and 42 minutes, so you are really getting lots of viewing time for your money! Each episode lasts for around 55 minutes. ...I really love 'The Life Collection' from David Attenborough. The complete series of 'Life in the Freezer' was the third dvd of the collection that I bought. The series itself has six episodes which are all on one disc. They were originally transmitted in 1993. The six episodes are: Episode 1: The Bountiful Sea - All about the Southern Antarctic Ocean and the species in it Episode 2: The Ice Retreats - About when Spring comes and the wildlife coming back to land to breed. ...Ever since I was a kid I have loved animals I've loved going to see them at zoos, watching programs about them on TV and reading books about them. This was probably due to my dad being very interested in natural history and we used to and still do sit down and watch documentaries on the TV with each other. Out of all the natural history documentaries my favourites and my dad's favourites were those presented by David Attenborough. When the series 'The Life Of Mammals' was shown on TV I watched every episode and found it fascinating and although I was at uni and my dad was at home I knew that he was also watching the series so when Christmas came round I new exactly what to buy him. ...The blue planet is the comprehensive tv series, on the history of the oceans. Narrated by David Attenborough, there are some fantastic images and you will discover creatures that you have never seen or heard of before. This series looks at the various different types of habitats and how each of the creatures living in them survive. ...This...... is the current American Idol Winner. David Cook is the American Idol that nearly never was. He actually was not initially going to try out for the television talent show, he was at the auditions to support his brother but, after some pushing from his brother, decided to audition too. A good decision, because he became the winner of the seventh season of American Idol in 2008. David Cook is classified as a Rock, singer-songwriter. His sound is definitely very rocky, but in my opinion quite soft rock. He has a very deep, raspy voice that lends itself very well to this type of music. Surprising Picture Quality - Panasonic DVD-S54

Advantages: Incredible picture quality when compared to my old non-upscaling player with a scart lead
Disadvantages: Sometimes disc drive can be really noisy when DVD's initially load.
