David Lloyds Gym Club - Finchley
Advantages: Extensive facilities local to my partner
Disadvantages: Membership structure fees too high (in my opinion)
...In my opinion, the membership fees of the David Lloyds in Finchley are rather extortionate considering the location is surburban and it's a longstanding community gymnasium.
Although the facilities are extensive, the membership team do not offer fee structures for possible savings based on whether members are local or have ben referred by an existing member. There is no mention of savings potential through corporate schemes either. Upon contacting the venue, (via head office since the online Enquiry Form received a zero response) an invitation is extended to meet with the manager and full prices are quoted on the telephone, with no offer to discuss savings or negotiate prices. The incentive to attend any meeting is therefore lost.
£96.75 per month, per person + £25 joining fee and £25 setup fee!!
(This is the couple membership...

David Lloyd in Cardiff, an expensive let down
Advantages: Well equipt gym
Disadvantages: Expensive services which did not live up to my expectations
...that they do (or remove).
Parking can be ok but at peak times it gets very crowded. If there is a big eg Nov 5th fireworks night event on there I would walk or take the bus as parking is impossible.
The changing rooms are ok they are very open plan and they don't seem to have nice family rooms like other David lloyd gyms that I have visited in the past. It just means that you have to chase mobile young children around while getting dressed. Plus i have found some areas are a bit worn, just not as well maintained as you would expect for the money.
The indoor pool is ok but too deep for little ones. The childrens' pool is exceedingly cold and so my children have been blue after a very short time in there. The outdoor pool is heated but I have never been inspired to go in.
There are a good range of classes advertised, some are better...

David Lloyd Cheadle
Advantages: Not quite good as Manchester
Disadvantages: Really expensive membership
...I enjoy going to the gym. I think David Lloyds has to be the best one i have been to so far.
I took a visit to David Lloyd in Cheadle, North West.
How did i get there.....
I drove there and it was really easy to find. It is situated just off the A34 which is really close to Manchester Airport. I just rolled up in my car in the free parking area.
First Impressions of the area......
Not bad actually. It was on a complex wich contained the gym, a brewsters restaraunt and a Travel Inn next to it. I supose i could actually spend all day here.
And from there......
Inside was good. I first spoke to the receptionist who was very helpful indeed. She went on to explain offers, discounts and what they had to offer. I found this really helpful so not a bad start at all.
I made my way to the changing rooms, which were well...

David Lloyd Cheadle
Advantages: Good changing rooms, a good amount of aerobic equipment
Disadvantages: Not enough free weights and weight based equipment as a whole.
...arguing over a weight which me and another member stepped in to calm them down.
To summarize this review I would just say to David Lloyd Cheadle: "IF IT AINT BROKE WHY "FIX IT"??!!!." The Life Fitness equipment used before the refurbishment is sooooo much better then this technogym one currently in place (honestly I have no affiliation with either company) and if anyone knows another gym in the area with Life Fitness equipment in it then PLEASE let me know, so that I can join them ASAP.
I hope this review has been useful....

Status Symbol rather than a Gym
Advantages: Good family atmosphere, decent equipment & facilities
Disadvantages: Expensive, Facilities management below par, gym staff lack enthusiasm
...David Lloyd Heston Gym is fairly new, the entire facility is well equipped and designed, a friendly family atmosphere. The members area is equipped with comfortable three piece leather suites and arm chairs, with plasma screen TV's, and free internet. There's also a Café serving a decent menu and alcoholic drinks. The gym itself has all the modern equipment one would expect, two heated swimming pools, jacuzzi, steam room and sauna.
A major flaw with David Lloyd Heston is that they are more geared towards recruiting new members rather then looking after their existing members. The subscription fees have increased again but the gym is the same, no new equipment, no extra staff or lockers. During peak hours lockers are pretty much taken or unusable (broken locks), wait your turn for gym equipment, and expect to queue up for showers...

David vs Goliath- the final conflict.....
Advantages: The best in the business
Disadvantages: recently changed opening hours
...I recently became so ill that I nearly died in hospital. When I was out of danger and back home, the GP said that the best thing I could do was to join a gym and get rid of the weight. I am 5ft 9, and was just over 20 stone.
He said it would feel like fighting Goliath, but persistence and determination would prevail.
I wanted to try and enjoy my forthcoming ordeal, so without any doubt or hesitation, made an appointment to view the club in Brighton Marina Village, as I already had heard of the company's reputation, and I wanted the best.
Brighton Marina is located approximately a mile east of the famous pier, and offers pubs, clubs, restaurants, bars, bowling, cinemas, clothes and fashion shops, retail outlets, and of course, the marina itself. It is a lively, colourful, and prestigous location, and the David Lloyd leisure club...

LONDON'S CALLING
Advantages: Pleasent stay, good food, central location
Disadvantages: Views from room
...eateries/drinking places and chose 372, which offers carvery selection. I was surprise how hot and fresh the food was. Not only that it was tasty too! We opted for lamb with roast potatoes, new potatoes and three vegetables. However, my only complaint about the meal was the vegetables; they were a tad on the raw side for my liking. That said I ALWAYS OVER cook my veggies. Dessert was for me home made apple pie and cream, while the other half opted for home made cheesecake ? both were consumed without any complaints and very much enjoyed. Our meal for two with drinks cost £29)
Hotel: the hotel it situated in the Strand which is in central London and easy to walk to theatres such as the Aldwych, Lyceum, and many more. Come out the front of the hotel and turn right, and you?ll be heading towards Trafalgar square with Nelson, bear left and you...

A GREAT, BUT PRICEY, CENTRE
Advantages: not as posey as other gyms
Disadvantages: a bit of a treck.
...My girlfriend and I decided that we would stop buying the odd piece of gym eqipment, only to have it sit around in the house for a while and then be consigned to the garage, and instead join a fitness centre. Our reasons were twofold: firstly we wanted to trim down and tone up for our holiday in September; secondly we wanted to have somewhere we could go to relax and enjoy eachothers company. As we have many friends who are members of various David Lloyds, we decided that the Enfield branch would be our best bet, as we were told it provided good exercise facilities and some nice ways in which we could destress after a hard day at work.
Joining fee is pretty steep, a whopping £200 (on discount!!!!) joining fee, and then £90 per month to use all facilities other than the tennis courts. Our membership is known as Health and Fitness, as...

Lloyds on Lloyds
Advantages: Many branches, deposits easily made
Disadvantages: Sometimes the shear size cannot deal with individuals across depts
...Lloyds TSB, a fusion giant of the Lloyds Bank and the Trustee Savings Bank in 1995, becoming one of largest banks in the UK. Its head office now in London, Gresham Street. In Scotland it is known as Lloyds TSB Scotland. It also owns Cheltenham and Gloucester, Scottish Widows, and Black Horse.
This is an example of a monster of a bank who are extremely good to you if you are paying the staff wages, but when you get into difficulties they seem to heavily crush you. Mind you it is not fair to say Lloyds are alone in this, all the financial institutions operate this way.
But Lloyds in my experience are relatively good in some departments but poor in others. If there are no problems with your accounts then there is not really a problem. However, if you open many accounts with them, they have various departments dealing...

A family friendy Health club
Advantages: Family friendly, plenty to do
Disadvantages: Can be busy at certain times
...My husband and I had been members at a gym for a while but found while I was pregnant that we weren't using it so decided to end our membership!
In January 2001, my friend joined David Lloyd which had recently been built and opened in Gyle Park on the West of Edinburgh situated between Corstorphine and the Gyle! In July 2001 we noticed and offer in teh paper for a £50 joining fee so we phoned and arranged a look round!
We were impressed! A large car park with plenty of spaces and also from the outside the building looked clean and welcoming!
The staff were very helpful on the front desk and were polite while we waited to see a membership advisor!
The membership advisor was very helpful and showed us round and answered all our questions. She showed us the soft play area. Pointed out where children were allowed to sit...
