David Lloyds Gym Club - Finchley

Advantages: Extensive facilities local to my partner
Disadvantages: Membership structure fees too high (in my opinion)

...In my opinion, the membership fees of the David Lloyds in Finchley are rather extortionate considering the location is surburban and it's a longstanding community gymnasium. Although the facilities are extensive, the membership team do not offer fee structures for possible savings based on whether members are local or have ben referred by an existing member. There is no mention of savings potential through corporate schemes either. Upon contacting the venue, (via head office since the online Enquiry Form received a zero response) an invitation is extended to meet with the manager and full prices are quoted on the telephone, with no offer to discuss savings or negotiate prices. The incentive to attend any meeting is therefore lost. £96.75 per month, per person + £25 joining fee and £25 setup fee!! (This is the couple membership...

David Lloyd in Cardiff, an expensive let down

Advantages: Well equipt gym
Disadvantages: Expensive services which did not live up to my expectations

...that they do (or remove). Parking can be ok but at peak times it gets very crowded. If there is a big eg Nov 5th fireworks night event on there I would walk or take the bus as parking is impossible. The changing rooms are ok they are very open plan and they don't seem to have nice family rooms like other David lloyd gyms that I have visited in the past. It just means that you have to chase mobile young children around while getting dressed. Plus i have found some areas are a bit worn, just not as well maintained as you would expect for the money. The indoor pool is ok but too deep for little ones. The childrens' pool is exceedingly cold and so my children have been blue after a very short time in there. The outdoor pool is heated but I have never been inspired to go in. There are a good range of classes advertised, some are better...

David Lloyd Cheadle

Advantages: Not quite good as Manchester
Disadvantages: Really expensive membership

...constant supervision while you enjoy your workout and a health and beauty salon. So while your there you can enjoy being pampered, haircut, waxed etc... Not a bad day out. I enjoyed this so much i did return. I have also been to visit the David Lloyd in Manchester. Again, really good service throughout, although i did prefer the Food and Beverage area in Manchester. Manchester also has no outdoor swimming pool, but does possess the other facilities and very high standards. Bad Points..... The cost of membership is very high for a health club. The price is just under £600 a year....

Review of David Lloyd Clubs, Cheadle

David Lloyd Cheadle

Advantages: Good changing rooms, a good amount of aerobic equipment
Disadvantages: Not enough free weights and weight based equipment as a whole.

...I've been a member of David Lloyd Cheadle for nearly seven years now (since 2001) and have always really enjoyed my experience there. O.K. it may be a bit expensive but for me it's (or was) well worth it, and they deserved to charge such an amount. However, since they've done the STUPID refurbishment in Summer 2007 they've made the club much worse! This is because there used to be more types of equipment before and two (sometimes three!) of each of it meaning that you didn't have to wait for so long to use the equipment you wanted (thats if you had to wait at all). Why the refurbishment has resulted in a reduction of the equipment, I don't know? Not only that the new equipment doesn't feel as good and as smooth as the old one as it's very poorly made by the manufacturers technogym (in my opinion). However, it's important to add that...

A family friendy Health club

Advantages: Family friendly, plenty to do
Disadvantages: Can be busy at certain times

...the gym for a while since before I had my baby so I can't comment except to say that I should really get myself another induction and get myself back there. David Lloyd also have a function suite which is just off reception. They have a extremely large hall which can be shuttered off into 2 smaller rooms. We recently held a naming ceremony here and it was well worth the £500 we paid for it. The staff were great about keeping us informed about everything and the buffet was great too. If you are in Edinburgh and live nearby you should check this club out. I can assure you that you will not be disappointed....

Greens Health & Fitness Club

Advantages: Fairly cheap membership fee, decent enough facilities
Disadvantages: A lot of niggling problems

...I have been a member at Greens Health & Fitness club in Stoke for around about three years now, as it is convenient for me to use and close enough to work to use at lunchtime. I was previously a member at Total Fitness Gym but left as the membership fees were getting too high. Greens has a good gym, with decent quality cardio machines (we have treadmills, exercise bikes, cross trainers, rowing machines, step machines and what we call 'wave' machines which give a similar motion to skiing), a weight room, two rooms for organised classes and a room with spinning bikes. There is a 25 metre pool with three jacuzzi's, a sauna and steam room, as well as an infra red sauna cabin, loungers and showers around the pool area. There is a large car park with plenty of space, with entrance and exit controlled by a barrier. This is useful as...

David vs Goliath- the final conflict.....

Advantages: The best in the business
Disadvantages: recently changed opening hours

...I recently became so ill that I nearly died in hospital. When I was out of danger and back home, the GP said that the best thing I could do was to join a gym and get rid of the weight. I am 5ft 9, and was just over 20 stone. He said it would feel like fighting Goliath, but persistence and determination would prevail. I wanted to try and enjoy my forthcoming ordeal, so without any doubt or hesitation, made an appointment to view the club in Brighton Marina Village, as I already had heard of the company's reputation, and I wanted the best. Brighton Marina is located approximately a mile east of the famous pier, and offers pubs, clubs, restaurants, bars, bowling, cinemas, clothes and fashion shops, retail outlets, and of course, the marina itself. It is a lively, colourful, and prestigous location, and the David Lloyd leisure club...

Esporta Health Club, Croydon

Advantages: Opens early, closes late. Lots of facilities and services
Disadvantages: Too many noisy children, expensive

...Esporta Croydon, also known as The Surrey Health and Rackets club, is part of a huge UK chain, owned by venture capitalist Simon Halabi. It was primarily a rackets club and has been responsible for helping train some of the up and coming Tennis stars of tomorrow. Esporta is situated in a purpose built warehouse on a large industrial estate not far from Waddon mainline station and houses a spacious gymnasium, also known as the "Fitness Arena", a large family pool and an even larger olympic sized pool. There are numerous Tennis courts and several Squash courts. It is a club which encourages families, so may not suit those in search of halcyon days. Having parked in the spacious car park you will come through the double doors into the reception area, where you will be greeted by the welcoming reception staff, who will actually greet...

Lloyds TSB

Advantages: Generally good service, helpful!
Disadvantages: High charges!

... Lloyds TSB I have been with Lloyds TSB literally all my life, they've always seemed to be a good bank to me, they won't lend me money as it is as I've never had credit and have been a student and never had a full time job, which is good, a lot of banks don't care and will give money out to anyone regardless of whether they can pay it back or not, but I've never had this with Lloyds, the only thing with them is the charges they put on your account for an unplanned overdraft, but these unplanned overdrafts I take with Lloyds really are a godsend when my wages are short by 50 pound one month and my phone bill needs paying so I don?t mind a £25 charge for a £100 unplanned overdraft, it s when you go overdrawn by 4p that the charge is annoying!!! Other than this, Lloyds have been a very good bank for me, yes they try to sell me...

Health, fun and fitness at a cost- a BIG cost

Advantages: Amazing facilities, great pools, great food, great service
Disadvantages: COST, hygiene, prices of other things

...The David Lloyd health anf fitness club's are expanding slowly but surely and your likely to see one in all big towns or cities and even in smaller towns like Ringwood. Ringwood is a small town by the coast with great direct links leading to Bournemouth, Southampton, Portsmouth, Salisbury, Poole and the Coast. It is quite small and with a growing populaton needs to expand economically too. So what better than a state of the art health and fitness club on the outskirts of Ringwood. **What is the David Lloyd and what can i do there?** The David Lloyd is a health and fitness club offered to members only who are willing to pay a monthly subscription in order to recieve a pass to the club. It offers a high tech state of the art gym with running machines - TV's on top, rowing machines, cycling machines, cross country skiing machines...
