...I have seen Jim Davidson on stage three times in the last 12 months plus I am a woman. I know he gets a lot of bad press but the way he expresses his opinions is very funny. Review of Jim Davidson - Full On Live (DVD)

Harley Davidson Boutique.

Advantages: Location and pose factor.
Disadvantages: Inflated prices.

...This store has since closed down and the items it stocked can now be purchased from Warrs Harley Davidson as they owned and ran this venture. They have two branches, one at Mottingham Road south of the river thames and the other branch at the far end of the Kings Road at their motorcycle dealership. This was a store in the heart of Chelseas KIngs Road and was more a boutique than a motorbike clothing shop. It had both clothes, shoes/boots and accessories in stock. It fitted in with the clientele of Chelsea as they liked the Harley image without having to own the bike. I am a life member of HOG (Harley Owners Group) and I shopped there occasionally but prefered the atmosphere of the dealership further down the Kings Road. The prices in the boutique are slightly more inflated than the regular dealership prices would be....

Harley Davidson Sporster

Advantages: Low cost upgrade from 883 to 1200cc's
Disadvantages: none

...I purchased a used 1996 H-D 883cc Sporster for $6,000.00 (USD) I then had the engine upgraded to 1200cc's and added a few other relatively inexpensive modifications (hi-flow air breather) for a total cost of less than $900.00 (USD), I then added a larger gas tank (previous 2.2 gal to 3.4 gal), and put metal Harley Davidson lettering on tank (no decals). For all relative purchases I now have a 1996 frame on a brand new engine. A used 1996 1200cc Sporster would have cost at least $9,000.00--so I saved alot of money and got a much faster and better running custom engine, and was able to add a few more custom modifications with all of the money I saved.My bike is much faster and sounds better than any new or used stock factory direct 1200cc Sporster. Burns can run deep....

Advantages: Fantastic storytelling and the descriptions are detailed and utterly engrossing
Disadvantages: Sometimes gruesome, lacks expressive force when it comes to the characters at times

...the author thinks he has visited hell, and it incorporates all his stories from Marianne. Like the gruesome and clinical explanation of his burns, this was often grim but fascinating reading and the author really does do the macabre aspect of writing so well. I wouldn't say this was an easy book to get through - I read a comment from the New York Times which said "There are passages to indicate that Davidson has a real talent for close physical description and tight storytelling. The problems come when he lingers on describing feelings and thoughts, which end up sounding thin and unconvincing "I think that is hitting the nail on the head exactly. Can Love Conquer All For The Gargoyle?

Advantages: Original, well written, Magical.
Disadvantages: Lacked some passion between the two main characters, just stops it from being breathtaking.

...The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson tells the story of a young man, horrifically burned in a car accident. Lucky to be alive and horrendously disfigured, he undergoes extensive treatment on a burn ward in hospital, all the while waiting for the day he will be released and can end his life. Then in walks Marianne Engel, a woman completely unknown to the young man. She approaches his hospital bed, leans over and whispers " You've been burned ... again." Claiming to have known and loved our protagonist 700 years ago in medieval Germany we are took on a journey through the present and past. The first thing I'd like to note here is the appearance of the book itself. I wouldn't normally cover this in a book review, however on this occasion feel it is worthwhile. Review of The Gargoyle - Andrew Davidson

Oh I do like to be beside the seaside.....

Advantages: Side splitting laughter
Disadvantages: Sexist towards women

...Background I am not going to go into the background on Jim Davidson because that is in another review. However, this DVD was made during Jim's time as the owner of the Wellington Pier in Great Yarmouth. Basically the pier had not been used in many years due to another pier being further up the beach, the Britannia Pier where the main beach is. The council decided that they wanted to re-open it but did not have the money so they agreed to give Jim Davidson the lease for 6 years; I think it was around 1995. Funnily enough the Wellington Pier does not reach the sea, only sand, they must have run out of wood! The Show When you play the show, it opens with the theme song "Oh I do like to be beside the seaside" and there are some views of the Wellington Pier, beach, amusements and horses and carriages...

Review of Jim Davidson - Uncovered And Uncensored (DVD)

ARGGHHH !! Jim Davidson !! ARGGHHH !!

Advantages: Used to be interesting & entertaining
Disadvantages: Now it is dull & stale, with irritating presenters

...Big Break is a good idea - three contestants are paired up with famous snooker players. The contestants answer the questions, the snooker players - guess what ?! - play snooker shots & the one with the most points goes through to the next round. Once again, the final consists of the contestant answering trivial questions, while the snooker player tries to pot various balls for points. It is sometimes entertaining, but these days it seems to have out lived its welcome & appears dated. Jim Davidson is one of the most annoying men on TV & I just don't find him funny. John Virgo as his sidekick used to be amusing, but the repartee between the two of them has become dull & predictable. It was a good concept, but I think it is now time to retire the show & replace it with something fresh & original....

A Vote for Jim is a vote for a good old laugh!

Advantages: I cry with laughter

...This is a party political broadcast on behalf of the Purple Party; the leader of the party is Jim Davidson. I know I am going to get some stick for this but what if Jim Davidson was Prime Minister? For one thing he would not be walked over like some of them are (I'm not mentioning any names) and he would not take any crap, why because he knows where his nuts are! If you did not like that then I apologise but it is going to get worse. The Show = Jim Davidson has made this a very British live show including having the national anthem as he enters on stage with a very large Union Jack hung as the background. There is a speakers' podium in the centre of the stage and he is dressed in a pin stripped suit. Advantages: Excellent for those who like chick lit, easy reading

...When our friends J & K arrived at our house for a dinner/drinking evening K handed me a plastic bag full of books, seven of which were the "Undead" series by Maryjanice Davidson. I wasn't particularly impressed as generally I don't tend to read chick lit, and was very relieved when K said I shouldn't feel obliged to read them, and that I could do what I wanted with them when I had finished. However, I thought it would be rude to not at least give them a go by reading the first book in the series - "Unwed and Undead" (this particular review is not about the first book, but will give you a feel for the whole series). ...I know some of you may have read previous reviews of mine about Jim Davidson so yes I am a fan. I may only be 25 years old but I can remember watching him, even at a young age. Does anyone remember that he had a stand up show on ITV? Well I do and I can always remember my Mum crying with laughter and now my Mum is not around anyone and I now cry with laughter. Introduction This was filmed in Edinburgh to celebrate 25 years in show business back in 2002.
