California dreamin' at Days Inn

Advantages: Well located; reasonably priced rooms; large beds
Disadvantages: Not much in the way of hotel facilities

...particular Days Inn being very well situated. Travel about 2 miles south on this road and you hit the beach, travel inland and it leads you through Beverley Hills and on to Hollywood. If like me, you make a hash of map-reading, this road is a navigator's dream. ~ On arrival ~ This is a low-level building in keeping with the locality, and only has a total of 68 bedrooms spread out on three floors. What clinched it for me with this hotel was it's pinkness. The outside décor is probably more suited to Miami's Art Deco area, and some might say it looks gaudy but I thought the pink paint suited the area perfectly. You can enter the motel either via the pedestrian entrance or via the car park, and once inside, we found the lobby to be very clean, with a nice marble floor. Two Days at the Days Inn

...My friend and I stayed at the Days Inn in Niagara for two nights in May at the start of our tour round Eastern Canada. We?d booked this as part of our Globespan holiday so I don?t know how efficient the booking process was. The hotel was three star and we certainly didn?t pay over the odds for our stay, although I don?t know exactly how much we paid. Arrival We arrived at the Days Inn at around 3am Canada time, or 8am according to our body clocks! We breathed a sigh of relief as our bus finally pulled up outside the hotel (our flight had been delayed quite a bit so neither of us was in the best of form by this stage!). ...Like all other chain motels Days Inn doesn't really differ much. Me and my other half stayed at thi specific one whilst on the way to see a friend a it was quite a long distance away. It is situated in a convinient location at the services on the M1. The staff were polite and helpfull telling is the prices of breakfast and what times to be out on your last day. The room was clean with an on-suite bathroom with a bath/shower, sink and toilet. There was also basic soap available and a sign saying if you needed more toiletarys they would be available from reception some such as razors and toothbrushes would cost. It was heated well with a controllable electric fire so you could set the tempreture yourself, tea and coffee making facilities were available with hot chocolate and biscuits there too. If I drive, it takes ma a good 4 hours on the motorway and you can't really relax like you can on the train. ...When people stay at a lodging, they have certain expectations. Cleanliness and good condition of the property are usually tops on the list, no matter how low the rate is. Unfortunately, my visit at the Lake Buena Vista location of the Days Inn was too brief to either strengthen or dash my first impressions, but there is no reason why management should expose any guest to neglect of its property. Once someone pays for professional hospitality, a reasonable standard should be maintained. Disadvantages: Basic, no restaurant next door

...We are spoiled for choice these days for budget priced accommodation in the UK, the market leaders appear to be Premier Inn (formerly Travel Inn) & Travelodge. Between the two of them they cover most of the populated areas of the country & provide in general a decent level of service. I have since found another chain that competes directly with Premier Inn & Travelodge who have the advantage as they will also accommodate dogs. Those of you have travelled throughout the USA will recognise the name, Days Inn; in the UK they have 35 hotels plus nine more in Ireland. Advantages: Good, well structured book with case studies and food lists plus recipes
Disadvantages: Difficult to stick to

...I came across the South Beach Diet a few years ago as the book was a freebie on a magazine. I'd previously heard of the Atkins diet and thought it far too extreme for me. Don't get me wrong, I'm keen to lose weight but cutting out specific food groups indefinitely isn't something that I would be able to sustain or that imagined would be particularly healthy - not to mention some of the side effects that I had seen on TV and in magazines. In my opinion, The South Beach Diet is a "lite" version of the above. Basically, you cut out all carbs for the first 14 days, then slowly start to introduce good carbs back into the diet after 14 days. ...I?ve stayed here a couple of times with work. My stays have been fine but I always feel a bit spooked in this hotel. It?s a grey 1970?s style block with other 400 rooms. It?s main purpose seems to be to cater for conferences, it has 23 meeting rooms. It is basically your typical Holiday Inn 4 star hotel (not three star as Ciao seems to have it listed) Now don?t laugh, but on my stays I have kept my bathroom light on and pulled the duvet over my head! The hotel does freak me out a bit, a slight atmosphere. It always seems to be very quiet and it?s quite gloomy inside which doesn?t help.
