Review of Daytona Beach (Florida)

Triumph Daytona 675, individually superb!!

Advantages: Triumph badge, grunt, handling, image, build quality
Disadvantages: will keep you out all weekend, prepare the divorce papers!!

...Over the years I've owned middleweight Honda's, Kawasaki's, Yamaha's, KTM's and an Aprilia Mille. I judge a bike by whether it gets me out of bed before 8am at the weekends. The Triumph Daytona 675 certainly does, not just at the weekends either. My Daytona is a 05 in red, the best colour in my opinion. I have to say that of all the bikes I've owned this is by far the best all rounder and its given me the biggest grin of the lot. Not to say that it does everything reasonably well like a CBR 600; the 675 everything exceptionally well, has the image, the heritage and the grin factor packed in as well! In my early riding years I was a junky for the Japanese reliability, yet soon became bored whilst everyone seemed to own the same bike as me and have the same opinion that they'd probably picked up from Ride Magazine last week. Perfect Beach

Advantages: long white sandy beach, sea turtles nest here
Disadvantages: can get very, very busy

...If you like beaches you MUST visit Daytona. It is a straight, 10 mile stretch of beach, that for some weird reason they let people drive up and down on! We hired a convertible for a few days and headed there, and boy did my husband enjoy posing with the stereo blasting and the roof down cruising down the beach! It really is perfect, if you go before 2pm you can pick your spot, and see nothing but white sand and blue (warm) sea. There is plenty other things to do and see (including Daytona 500 - the race track) and nightlife here is great. It is ideal for young couples. We stayed for 3 days, but a week would have been better....

Daytona 900 - Sports Tourer

Advantages: Triumph Brand. Good Finnish. Stable and predictable.
Disadvantages: Heavy, long reach to bars, parts expensive.

...This is my second Daytona 900, so I guess I like them. I had a VFR750 in between. The Daytona is a good long distance fast tourer. It is not a sports bike and if thats what you want I would look to one of the newer Daytonas or another bike altogether. It sweeps through bends and is very stable at speed but it doesn't have the fast steering of a sports bike or the insaine power band. The power is smooth and progresive, there is plenty but it doesn't come all in a rush like alot of sports bikes. The Daytona has a fantastic sense of presence and it is the kind of bike that makes people look to see what it is. Mine is bright red which also probably makes it more noticable. (My last one was black which was very difficult to keep clean) The seat is very comfortable and the pegs are not so high up to be cramped (I'm 5'10"). However it...
