It beats the Kirby every time, cost wise, It out performs every other vacuum I have ever tried, as a Decorator I operate many clients vac's, none come close to the Dyson for efficient dust and paper collection. The brush floor tool is absolutely brilliant, whether you have pets or not.. just get one... it cleans right to the very edge of the carpet... no more dusty lines. The picture doesnt lie, it folds away exactly like that so its unobtrusive. All the tools are attatched to the vac, in easy reach.. not shoved in a cupboard, just press a button to disconnect the cleaning head, slip on the attatchment and hey presto... nuf sed! Dyson DC20, First Impressions Fabulous.

Advantages: Highly effective, good range of tools, quiet.
Disadvantages: Can't store on end.

...First impressions are Fabulous. We have 3 cats and anywhere up to 5 children running around the house (wide is a childminder) so there is mess, but we do try to keep the carpets clean. As such we vacuum frequently and I was impressed with the upright Hoover we had - until the wheel fell off. I had always thought of dysons being overpriced and overhyped. I picked this up for £160 along with a free set of Dyson tools, so that took care of the cost problem. However, having now used the DC20 I would pay around £210 for it. Out of the box it felt like a good quality piece of kit. Has a decent volume container for the dirt (unlike many other cleaners of similar dimensions) and most of the tools fit on the cleaner easily and firmly. Additional tools that are included must be stored seperately, but this is not a problem as there is...

Each DC-14 is colour coded to the special facilities it offers. I have the steel gray and purple version, which has the Hepa filter, extra pet hair mini turbine head, adjustable brush for carpets and tiles plus the standard tools. The standard model is yellow and gray, and does not have the adjustable brush. It is suitable only for carpets, not for tiles. Dyson DC14 a powerful sucker!

Advantages: Bagless, powerful, 5 year warranty, great suction.
Disadvantages: No cord auto cord rewind.

Dyson DC14 Allergy

Advantages: Powerful, doesn't lose suction and a wide range of optional extras
Disadvantages: I can't get on with the angled crevice tool

...I started out with the original Dyson DC01 but I was always convinced mine wasn't as powerful as my mums and didn't remove dog hair very well. After buying a new carpet I bought the DC14 Allergy at a special offer price a couple of weeks ago and I wouldn't be without it now. It almost takes the carpet up with it!! And it loves dog hair. It really does make vaccuuming easy. When using the pipe, it almost takes off but I guess you need to actually be holding it to believe it. The only thing I can't get on with is the angled crevice tool. I much preferred the straight one on my original Dyson. You can also buy a mini turbine head to attatch to the pipe (which I will invest in) which makes cleaning stairs even easier. The pipe is long enough to reach to the top of the stairs in one go. All in all, a fantastic cleaner....

Sigma EX 10-20mm f4-f5.6 DC HSM

Advantages: Good quality results. Good build. Compact. Price.
Disadvantages: Distortion with architecture and interior shots.

...I have owned two of these lenses. One (the first) for my Nikon DSLR (since disposed of) and the second for my Canon APS-C sensor DSLR. Both lenses exhibited near identical characteristics and qualities which does at least imply consistency. This lens covers the useful range of 15-30mm on a APS-C Nikon, 16-32mm on a APS-C Canon and 17-34mm on a Sigma DSLR - not quite the classic 16-35mm range but near enough nonetheless and, a valuable and versatile addition to anyone's APS-C based kit. This of course is a Sigma DC lens and as such, is suitable only for the APS-C sized cropped sensor DSLR's. It cannot be used on full-frame or 35mm cameras. The EX designation stands for 'Excellence', Sigma's designation for their professional quality lenses and it's feel and finish are in keeping with this. It is quite weighty (for it's size...

Dyson DC14 Animal - A Good Buy

Advantages: Power, Specific for Dog hair and Allergies, mini turbine

...I have owned a DC 14 Animal with Hepa filter for 3 years now and bought it for around £300. I have had very little to complain about. We have a west highland white terrier and a small child so wanted to purchse the animal because of its specific performace on animal hair and the lifetime Hepa+ filter for allergies. This product does exactly what it says on the tin, powerfull and no loss of suction. In fact it still amazes me today to see how much dirt and dog hair the vaccum collects. This product has never broken and has been used three times a week over the last 3 years. It is a fairly quiet machine but has become more noisy over time. The product comes with a 14 stair long reach telscopic pole and mini vaccum turbine head. This is an excellent tool for use on stairs as the mini turbine head has its own built in rollers and brushes...

Dyson Ball DC25

Advantages: Very light and very manoeverable.
Disadvantages: Bit too light and moves around a lot.

...The Dyson DC25 all Floors vacuum cleaner is a revolution in houshold cleaning. Not only is very good at picking up small pieces of dust and dirt,but the filters are washable which makes it cheaper than some other types of cleaners. I love the way it manoevers around furniture and as it has a small and low head it can get under the edges of furniture as well as under my radiators. Something my old Dyson couldn't do. It's very light weight, weighing only 7.5kg so it makes hoovering upstairs that much easier. The only draw back of this weight is that when you are using the extension hose to clean furniture, curtains or to get behind things, i found that if stretched to it;s limit the machine would move around and has caught me in the ankles several times. This is a little annoying as i have had to stand with one foot...
