Mmmmm..... DDR RAM

Advantages: Gives me an extra 512MB

...This review is a little brief, but you can't write too much about a little stick of RAM! No, really you can't. Even though I had a computer with 1GB of memory I decided I wanted even more from my computer, so I bought this! 512MB is the average amount of RAM a newish computer has, but it really isn't a lot in the long term. But saying I was only upgrading extra! I never went into a computer before, as I was a software person myself. So I was obviously scared, in case I broke anything. So I spent about ten minutes researching, I thought it would take hours but I was amazed at the simplicity described! I remember the days of 16MB RAM being loads, so I thought 512MB would cost lots, I was extremely shocked; it only cost around £30, from eBuyer! Now I'll do a little explaining. Kingston DDR2 RAM

Advantages: Cheap, Lifetime Warrenty & Tested
Disadvantages: I have found none

...Kingston Value RAM is probally the best WhiteBox Solution.This Product will be fully tested when you get it and come with a lifetime warrenty and is probally the only one that i have ever had with this sort of Support. Prices for this module are a little bit higher than in some other places but it is well worth the extra cost. I use these modules and run them in dual channel on new machines. I have never had a customer which has returned a PC with a memory fault or any fault that had kingston memory. The chips work very well. I have run memory tests on them and they never show up with an error. On the whole this is probally the memory you want to go for if you are looking for value RAM....

But as programs grew and evolved into being ever more complex so the drain on the computers resources became ever greater. Nowadays I fear a system with 32MB would struggle to even start the latest incarnation of Microsoft?s operating system; indeed my current PC ? purchased in 2007 boasted 1GB of memory which I was assured by the salesman would be more than enough for many years to come. Needless to say I have noticed a drop in speed as time passed, with the little Windows vista system monitor in the sidebar going into the red ever more often as the memory struggles to keep up. Kingston memory chip

Advantages: Ease of installment
Disadvantages: Cant think of any

...Memory module easy to install, and straight not bent as some others i have recieved were. No problems since installing and speed of my computer has improved dratically, allways buy quality as cheap parts are never the same. Have found that the Kingston memory has all the latest quality parts needed to ensure a smooth running and speedy computer with out any loss of internal memory when replacing the older slower / less memory one. Always comes well protected in a anti static bag and foam packing so make sure you dont touch the chips with your fingers as static electricity can jump from your body to the chips and even the best modules cant stop anti static electricty jumping and affecting thier products during installement...

...almost all of the RAM manufacturers today use the same packaging style. The RAM did come with a small instruction leaflet although the installtion process involved with memory is not complicated by any stretch of the imagination, it's probably harder getting the side of your case off than actually putting the RAM in. ANd of course because it's DDR2, you can't put it in the wrong way around as the gap in the contacts between the RAM and the motherboard is offset. The motherboard and the rest of the computer for that matter seemed to have nor problem with the memory as it booted up fine and the BIOS automatically detected the RAM speed and setup the timing and speed so that it was running at the speeds it was designed to run at. At this moment in time the RAM is actually overclocked slightly at 840Mhz, up 40 Mhz from the stock speeds...
