Good value memory
Review of Corsair Value Select DRAM 256 MB PC3200 by

Advantages: Upgrading memory is best way to improve performance
Disadvantages: You must make sure you get the correct type of memory!
....
Secondly you need to know the type. Old pentiums will probably take SIMMS (72pin), in which case you need to buy a pair of two chips. Anything will use DIMMS. Usually pentium 2 will use SDRAM 100Mhz or 133Mhz (168pin). Pentium 3s normally take DDR SDRAM (184pin), which can be either 200Mhz, 266Mhz, 333Mhz or 400Mhz. Although 200Mhz is very rarely seen. Roughly speaking a 1 to 2Ghz processor usually goes with 266Mhz RAM, 2-3Ghz with 333Mhz and 3+ with 400Mhz. Very new computers will take DDR2 (240pin) which is even faster speeds. To find out exactly which you need consult the motherboard manual. If that fails then open up the computer and look at the chip inside. If you are lucky it will have a sticker on it with the information you need. It is also worth noting the "codes" often used to refer to the different types:
100Mhz = PC100
133Mhz = PC...

Disadvantages: You must make sure you get the correct type of memory!

First check that you have some slots free. If not then it will involve removing one of the existing chips.

75FRV
Review of Soltek SL-75FRV - motherboard - ATX - KT400 by
ryt3h
Advantages: good cheap motherboard for your money
Disadvantages: Bit aged now with the release of new processors
...I have had this motherboard for a few months now and i have to say it is really good. I have it with an Athlon 2400+ chip with 2x512 PC3200 DDR memory and it runs like a dream.
The features of this motherboard are as follows:
Chipset:
VIA Apollo KT400
Processor Support:
AMD processors Athlon/Athlon XP/Duron 333/266/200 MHz system bus
Graphics:
AGP 8X/4X
Memory:
DDR 400/333 MHz SDRAM
ATA:
ATA 133/100/66 data transfer rate
Others:
USB 2.0
6 channel AC'97 audio
Auto Overclock in Bios
When I purchased this motherboard it came with ATA and floppy drive cables although it depends where you buy it and what company made it on weather you get them. Also it comes with a great manual that is easy to follow and the PC can be made and set up with ease using this motherboard.
The bios is very good and there is no need to update it as soon...

GOOD PRODUCT
Review of Sony VAIO FS115M - Pentium M 730 1.6 GHz - 15.4" TFT by
krakakoutas
Advantages: USEFUL
Disadvantages: EXPENSIVE
...Data Bus Speed 533 MHz
equipped with 2Mb of onboard cache.
-Data Bus Speed 533 MHz. Installed Size512 MB / 1 GB (max)
Technology DDR SDRAM - 333 MHz
Hard Drive 80 GB
Card graphyque NVIDIA GeForce 128 Mb
I recognise that i don't use the part games, so i can't appreciate the performance the quality about the card, nevertheless this one is satisfactory with my uses
With the new model, no floppy drive so you'll have to go out and get a USB external drive .
Centrino architecture that fit it allows the computer to turn in less elevated frequency and therefore to consume less energy.
LCD screen X black
I have compared from other manufacturers, but the display quality was nowhere near as good.
screen
The wide screen is an intersting aspect of the computer overall if you use it as word processor.
keyboard

Review of MSI K8MM3-V - motherboard - micro ATX - K8M800 by
ManiDhillon
Advantages: Low Cost, High Performance, Good Built Quality, Almost latest hardware support
Disadvantages: No PCI-E Slot, Only 2 RAM Slots, Low Integrated GFX
...I'm using this product from a year. I bought a budgeted system containing MSI K8MM-V MoBo, AMD Sempron 2800+, 768 MB DDR 400MHz RAM, Sony DVD-RW DRU 170A, LG CD-RW/DVD-ROM, 80+80 WD SATA.
And the system is serving me very fine. The MotherBoard support 64 BIT AMD k8 processors upto AMD Athlon 3700+ [Socket 754] and upto 2 GB of DDR 266/333/400 DDR SDRAM.
It support almost all AGP 8x Graphic Cards but ATI one's are some what better than nVIdia.
3 PCI slots give you enough expandability. Two SATA and TWO IDE ports can accomodate upto 6 Drives [2 SATA and 4 IDE Drives]. It support UDMA 66/100/133 modes supporting upto 150 MB/s transfer.
In other words it is SUPERB....

ABIT NF7-S V2.0
Review of ABIT NF7-S - motherboard - ATX - nForce2 SPP by
leeclark8
Advantages: Second to none for overclocking
Disadvantages: errrrrrm.....
...based on nForce2 chipset, the NF7-S supports the latest AMD Athlon XP processors with 200/266/333 FSB, and features dual 400MHz DDR controllers that can deliver up to a 50% increase in bandwidth. The advanced memory architecture means that the latest 3D games and multimedia applications are able to run smoother and faster than ever before, giving you unparalleled system performance. It comes with 3 DDR DIMM slots to support up to 3GB of DDR memory, and optimized 128-bit architecture reduces memory latency. With the nForce2 MCP2-T, it delivers Dolby Digital 5.1 cinematic-quality sound.
I chose to use a mobile Athon 2500 cpu, which coupled with 512Mb of quality pc3200 DDR Memory, this machine will overclock to speeds of close to 3 GHZ!!!
Choose a good quality video card and your machine will be one of the best on the market for gaming...

GEIL
Review of GeIL DDR 2 Series DRAM 1 GB PC2-4300 by
Jon_Farrimond
Advantages: Cheap for what it is
Disadvantages: not backwards compatable with DDRI
...GEIL stands for Golden Empire Industries Limited. They use Samsung RAM that they repackage and test for you. There are only three companies in the whole world that make RAM and lots that repackage it. GEIL is one of them.
You can get this type of RAM in 533Mhz form all the way up to 1000MHz form, and it seems excellent.
I'm currently using two of these 1Gb sets and have found that they are both responsive and cool. They do not overheat like some RAMs and came well packaged and well presented.
The Specifications :
CAS 3-3-3-8
64x8 DDR2 FBGA Chips
240pin, Non-ECC, Un-buffered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM
Aluminum Heat-spreader
6 Layers Ultra Low Noises Shielded PCB
Overview
The specifications show a good fast module and its good that the devices comes with noise shielding. However it must be said that this is the lowest speed of DDR2...
