Not quite up to scratch!
Review of De Dietrich DMP401 Double Ovens - Electric by
Aberdonian
Advantages: Looks stunning, self-cleaning, two ovens and two grills.
Disadvantages: Poor design and expensive repairs.
...Three years ago we extended and completely refitted our kitchen. Instead of a free-standing cooker we opted for a built-in oven and separate hob. This way we could have the main oven at working-surface height and avoid possible accidents when moving hot food.
The model we chose was the De Dietrich DMP401D in white. It looks stunning and has what we need: two ovens (one with a fan) and a grill that could be used without too much bending or stretching. There are other features, but they were our basic requirements.
The cooker fits into a standard unit of the type produced by most fitted-kitchen manufacturers. If you’re doing it yourself you might need assistance in lifting the oven into the unit. You’ll also find that there are copious amounts of packaging, but some of it is recyclable. The fitting was done by an electrician...

Marlene De Dietrich
Review of De Dietrich DMP401 Double Ovens - Electric by
SueMagee
Advantages: Oh, please have a look at the opinion and you'll see them all!
Disadvantages: There's one or two niggles in there too!
...’ve been used to and I didn’t want the expense of putting gas piping into the kitchen. Put like that it doesn’t seem like very much, but eventually it was a choice between a few of the De Dietrich models and I opted for this one because it seemed the simplest.
The oven fits into a standard-size oven unit from most of the suppliers of fitted kitchens. You’ll find all the dimensions in the catalogue or on the website, so I won’t bore you with them here. In simple terms the top oven will cope with a large turkey and the bottom oven happily does a meal for two people.
Due to circumstances beyond my control (otherwise known as workmen) my kitchen wasn’t ‘finished’ (this is a technical term meaning that it’s useable if not pretty) until Christmas Eve and the first thing my oven had to cook was the Christmas cake, rapidly followed by all...

Watch out, I'm cooking...
Review of De Dietrich DOD438 by
lc15
Advantages: Safety!! It's quick and easy.
Disadvantages: None that I can think of...
...My parents got a new kitchen at Christmas and they’re really happy with it. They got some new funky features, but one thing that’s extra-hot is the oven (great pun!!).
The De Dietrich DOD438 was purchased with a new hob too, which will be detailed in another review. It is sleek and black and is split into two layers. I keep finding new things that it can do that interest me and I think I’m going to be having a play on my little holiday – even if it does involve cooking every night – something you can never really get away from!!
The main feature about this oven seems to be safety. This seems to be something that has been designed for; the whole design of the oven is really clever.
~Accessories
- Anti-tip safety shelf
- The arched anti-drop safety shelf
- Multi-purpose baking tray
- Hollow dish and shelf

...still cooking
Review of De Dietrich DTI-514J by
lc15
Advantages: So fast!
Disadvantages: None...
...The De Dietrich DTI-514J is a hob that was bought when my mum and dad got a new kitchen at Christmas. They bought this as well as an oven, which has also been reviewed, and they are by the same company, De Dietrich. They wanted to get something that wouldn’t just break straight away, and we never really get any fancy gizmo’s much. So what better than to spend a few extra pennies and get the best eh? I was down visiting and was definitely making the most of this amazing thing!!
De Dietrich claim to have “created a new generation of appliances…their quality, design and technological advances have made them exceptional products and reveal [their] unique know-how” and they claim that to have these new products is “truly an invitation to a new art of living”. The new products that they claim to have to unique know-how on is the new art...

I can hear laughter
Review of De Dietrich DME101W/B Built in Combination Microwaves by
SueMagee
Advantages: A smart,versatile, multi-function oven.
Disadvantages: Drop-down door makes cleaning difficult. The control panel is fiddly. The instructions are badly organised.
...the need arise.
I don’t use the microwave extensively. It’s used to heat a can of baked beans for lunch or make some porridge for breakfast. I mostly cook everything from scratch, so I don’t use it to cook pre-prepared meals or to reheat. I wouldn’t like to be without the choice of being able to use it though and as a combination oven is not a great deal more expensive than a simple microwave it seemed sensible to spend the extra and have a fall-back in case the main oven ever failed.
My choice of the main oven was dictated by the fact that few offered the main oven at a suitable height (I’m falling to bits – I’ve got a back problem too!) and had the handles that I needed. I settled for a De Dietrich. As the microwave was to be built in next to the main oven I settled on the De Dietrich Multi-Function Microwave Oven DME 101. It offered...

Looks Good, Cooks Good
Review of Delonghi Professional ESS602 by
cacoll
Advantages: Good cooker
Disadvantages: No automatic timer
...Admittedly the first thing I fell for with this cooker was its appearance, I fell for the silver look of it and it is very sleek, it was just what I wanted.
Thankfully it has also turned out to be an excellent cooker, it has 3 normal rings and one halogen ring for speedy cooking. It has two ovens, the top one also doubles as a grill. The ovens are spacious and cook evenly, the bottom oven is fan assisted. The top oven works well as a grill and the grill pan handles are easy to put on and take off.
It is easy to clean and always looks good, the only disadvantage I find is that though it has a countdown timer, it doesn't have an automatic timer which you can set to turn the oven on....

I love my Delonghi cooker
Review of Delonghi Professional ESS602 by
ignoramus
Advantages: Robust and easy to clean
Disadvantages: None
...I have had bad experiences with self cleaning ovens so a cooker without this was a must. I also need a large, seperate grill and halogen hob.
The Delonghi had everything I was looking for and knowing how difficult a stainless steel finish can be to keep looking good I chose the much cheaper white version. I wasn't familiar with the brand and it was much cheaper than the others on display, so I was a little wary. However, this was the only cooker that matched my criteria.
Only with use did I appreciate the well thought out design of this cooker. The side racks come out of both ovens so the cleaning is easy peasy. The 2 oven wide roasting tins are both strong and very large, so cooking a turkey and all the trimmings is no problem. There are more that enough oven racks. The racks are spaced wide enough to enable fingers to get...

The beast in the corner of my kitchen
Review of Delonghi ESF491 by
LostWitness
Advantages: Smart, stylish, easy to clean
Disadvantages: No majot -tives
...a considerable amount of time looking at the range of appliances in Curry's, Dixon's and Argos - I was surprised to find that the most comprehensive range by far was in Argos.
Having flicked through a couple of pages of the catalogue I was very quickly taken with the De'Longhi MW865. Although this model was by far the most expensive item listed (£299.99) it had a very substantial, solid look to it and as soon as I had seen it, I knew it was the one I wanted. This oven oozes quality, style and durability. Finished in Satined Stainless Steel, I was impressed at how professional this piece looked - it really wouldn't be out of place in the kitchen of a restaurant. Sturdy, with a large 30-litre capacity, not only is this a microwave, but also a combination microwave, oven and grill, so you can cook just about anything you want. I particularly like...

a smooth satisfying drink
Review of Havana Club Anejo Blanco by
havanna
Advantages: great value, and a name you can trust
Disadvantages: none what so ever
...Now you know why i am called havanna...
I love this drink in all its different styles. Each variety comes with its own unique history and unique taste to match..
Here is just a little background into the history of havana
In the year 1935 the Havana club bar opened to the joy of everyone. It opened in the heart of Havana on the plaza de la catederal.Between the years 1930 to 1950 Havana coctails were deigned and made and given to actors and celebrities like Marlene Dietrich to name one..
The 1950's became a troubled decade for Havana
so after the revolution Havana was relaunched by the government and made to be their priority rum brand. They had a state of the art distillery built , they employed the best technicians they could and began to produce Havana Club Rum..
Now to the Drink
Havana club anejo blanco is a traditional cuban white...

keep your hob shiny and brite!
Review of Hob Brite by
muppetlady
Advantages: Hob brite last's ages
Disadvantages: none that i can think of
...Hob brite is a cream cleaner with conditioners, for ceramic and halogen hobs.
I've been using this for the past two years and found it to be very good,
Hob brite is recommended by belling, creda, neff, tricity bendix, zanussi, rangemaster, beaumatic, stoves and De Dietrich.
It's very easy to use, pour a small amount on a cloth or tissue, don't over do it you really do only need a small amount, you'll be there for hours rinsing otherwise.
Wipe glass lightly and rinse.
I use a non-scratch scourer to get the burnt on bits off, Hob brite recommend you use the homecare razor scraper, unfortunately I lost mine!
Do not use on a hot hob, It dries intantly, I use it on a cold hob and have found it works better this way.
Hob Brite contains-
Less than 30% inert meneral filler
Less than 5% none ionic surfactant
food grade acid
flowing agent...
