...Firstly I just wanted to post about working in Jane Norman, a concession within Debenhams and this was the best place to post it. I actually thought Debenhams was probably a well run store, the pay was a bit low and I was hoping to apply for Debenhams when I left JN... Anyway just wanted to clear that up and warn off any young girls of taking a Saturday job in Jane Norman just because it's trendy as it's honestly one of the WORST places to work. If your lucky like me and worked in A Debenhams, occasionally you could get advice from a manager there but there was so much they could do... Pay: Firstly the pay was just disgusting. It was 5.06 an hour for sales assistants, which is peanuts. The Assistant Managers didn't even earn 20k and the managers just about touched the 20k mark, 5.06 is nothing I was taking home nothing more than 700...

...Now I work for Debenhams, and have done now for a year and if there is one thing I have to do, it's to be able to process account cards. There have been some modifications to the old store card and a new MasterCard has been introduced, but I'm sure you will find all the information you need below! . THE APPLICATION. The application for a Debenhams card is pretty much the same as before, except now it is a dual application you are considered for a Debenhams store card and a Debenhams MasterCard (explained later on in DEBENHAMS MASTERCARD section). There is the written application, which I would not recommend doing as this takes alot of time and once you have filled in all the questions the member of staff has to relay all the information over the phone to someone in a call centre far far away..... I would however recommend doing...

Dashing Debenhams

Advantages: Easy to use, good selection, helpful customer service.
Disadvantages: Delivery times quite long, not all brands available on the site.

...I decided to purchase my bridesmaid dresses from Debenhams and very quickly hit a few snags so I had to use the Debenhams To You service, so it is that aspect of "home shopping" that I am reviewing. First off, I did manage to buy 3 of my required dresses from local stores (which is when they got me to join the Store Card program and get 10% discount for the next 7 days, thus ensuring that when I found the other dress I could still use the discount), but the third dress was more difficult to come by. Described as a Wine colour Organza Prom dress, size 6 is hard to find! I managed to find one in the Portsmouth store, but it had very small white-ish paint flecks on them. The sales assistant did not seem to think that was a problem, but I did. I checked a few other stores and could not find the one I needed but a different sales assistant...

Debenhams Gift Advisory Service

Advantages: Good Cheery Staff, great banter, and a pretty compatible job.
Disadvantages: Tiring after consistent standing and monotonous repetition of the store music!

...Debenhams happily hired me for my first proper job as a 6th (last year in England) year school pupil this Christmas as a Gift Advisor with a 12hr/week contract; my primary task being to advise the public and be of bubbly assistance. It was really quite good job - it wasn't overly stressful and the people I worked with were brilliant. I asked a fellow employee what their opinion of Debenhams was and she responded "Never can you work in a place and have 500 different friends". It says it all. The canteen was reasonably sized with an array of cheap food and drink on offer. A microwave and toaster were at hand along with a fridge and TV for staff to indulge in during UNPAID breaks, a really quite stingy Debenhams approach. ...I went into Debenhams in Wigan in the North West and was about to spend around £100 pounds on clothes and various other things. Anyway I had remembered watching a programme on store cards. They said that they are excellent to have so long as you don't misuse them. They also said that you received 10% off on purchases when you open an account. I looked around the store and found a little card explaining a little about the card. I noticed that you got ten percent off purchases when you opened an account. I thought that if I did not use it again at least I have saved over a tenner on my purchases this visit, which was a saving in itself. When I got to the till, the woman on there asked me if I wanted to open an account, I obviously agreed and she said that as I have opened one I could have 10% off all purchases that week, no matter how...

Debenhams restaurant

...I want to specifically share my feelings about Debenhams Restuarant. I frequent the Plymouth Debenhams shop and, along with my husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter, regularly go to their restaurant on a Saturday morning. I feel it has everything we need. Having a young daughter it is sometimes hard to find a place to have a coffee and a cake as well as find something that she will like. They always seem to have an abundance of high chairs and even a little area with small chairs and a table for little ones to colour at. You can get a choice of 5 items out of about 9 items to make up a child's snack box for £1.99. These include things such as two finger kitkat, juice, jars of baby foods, bread roll, cheese strings, etc. There are also bowls for babies available to use. You can also only buy one or two items from this...

Debenhams - a department store with something for everyone!

Advantages: A wide choice of items, good sales with up to 70% off, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Can be expensive at full price - wait for the sales! No free parking.

...My review of Debenhams is based on the Barrow-in-Furness store, but the basics should apply to any branch - they can be found in most big towns and cities, including Manchester. The Barrow store is the biggest shop in town; a huge department store covering 2 big floors, with a car park on the roof so you don't have to carry your shopping too far! Unfortunately they do charge you to park there, which I personally think is a bit of a cheek when you're shopping in their store, but ho hum! As for what the store sells - it has everything from womenswear, childrenswear, menswear, cosmetics, accessories, sportswear, lingerie, home items, gifts, wedding list...the list goes on! It really is a one-stop shop for all the family. In Barrow, Debenhams has also brought Warehouse, Faith and Jane Norman clothes and shoes to the town in the form...

Debenhams Card - Current Member Of Staff

...Firstly of all i would like to point out that i currently work in Debenhams and therefore i know more about the advantages/disadvantages of having a debenhams card than some people who have written their reviews on the site so far. Also there have been a few changes particularly to the "account cover" side of things over the past few months so it is also worth considering those. Opening your account It is extremely easy to open your Debenhams account, in fact every member of staff who serves you at the till point WILL ask you if you would like to open one (it is a test shop requirment...if we dont ask then the consequences are rather grim when the test shop results come through) the form that takes about 10minutes to complete has now been thrown away and we use a system called E-Apps which is all done over the tillpoint and takes...
