Debenhams - a department store with something for everyone!
Advantages: A wide choice of items, good sales with up to 70% off, friendly staff
Disadvantages: Can be expensive at full price - wait for the sales! No free parking.
...My review of Debenhams is based on the Barrow-in-Furness store, but the basics should apply to any branch - they can be found in most big towns and cities, including Manchester.
The Barrow store is the biggest shop in town; a huge department store covering 2 big floors, with a car park on the roof so you don't have to carry your shopping too far! Unfortunately they do charge you to park there, which I personally think is a bit of a cheek when you're shopping in their store, but ho hum! As for what the store sells - it has everything from womenswear, childrenswear, menswear, cosmetics, accessories, sportswear, lingerie, home items, gifts, wedding list...the list goes on! It really is a one-stop shop for all the family. In Barrow, Debenhams has also brought Warehouse, Faith and Jane Norman clothes and shoes to the town in the form...

The Debenhams Card
Advantages: Discount and bonuses
Disadvantages: APR
...Now I work for Debenhams, and have done now for a year and if there is one thing I have to do, it's to be able to process account cards.
There have been some modifications to the old store card and a new MasterCard has been introduced, but I'm sure you will find all the information you need below!
.
THE APPLICATION.
The application for a Debenhams card is pretty much the same as before, except now it is a dual application you are considered for a Debenhams store card and a Debenhams MasterCard (explained later on in DEBENHAMS MASTERCARD section). There is the written application, which I would not recommend doing as this takes alot of time and once you have filled in all the questions the member of staff has to relay all the information over the phone to someone in a call centre far far away..... I would however recommend doing...

Britain?s most average department store
Advantages: Location, lots of selection
Disadvantages: The interior
...What is it?
Debenhams advertises itself as Britain?s favourite department store. I would describe it as Britain?s most average department store. I am speaking from my experiences at the Swindon store; the other ones I visit tend to be slightly better. Debenhams has it?s own range of products and high street concessions in it. There are 104 stores.
The Store Location:
This is probably the best thing about it. It has a town centre location, which happens to be right by my bus stop, which is great when I have a 30-minute wait for the next bus. It is a 1960?s style building that has seen better days. A lot of town centre stores seem to be like this but the newer stores in out of town malls are much nicer. I remember going in when I was a little girl and back then I was kind of quaint. Now it just seems old-fashioned. When it first...

Debenhams Store Card Pros + Cons card?
Advantages: Discounts
Disadvantages: High APR
...I first became aware of this account card when my mum first applied for one many years ago. This account card has a first downer of being a very high APR of which in my mind has a big red cross over it, but the benifits of the card if used to its full potentional can out weigh and avoid the bad.
As many credit cards and store cards have, this card has an intrest free period of purchases of up to 56 days of the purchase providing the balance was cleared and payment was on time on the last statement.
There are 2 different types of account cards the blue and the gold. You can only apply for the blue card, where the gold has to be "earned". The blue card offers discounts on event days and when used with a nectar card, also gains extra nectar points per every £2 spent. The gold card on the other hand has much more value in terms...

Debenhams do da dirty
Advantages: Rewards, Special member nights, pre-sale information, money off vouchers
Disadvantages: HIgh interest on cash and purchases, High fees if anything goes wrong
...I went into Debenhams in Wigan in the North West and was about to spend around £100 pounds on clothes and various other things. Anyway I had remembered watching a programme on store cards. They said that they are excellent to have so long as you don't misuse them. They also said that you received 10% off on purchases when you open an account. I looked around the store and found a little card explaining a little about the card. I noticed that you got ten percent off purchases when you opened an account. I thought that if I did not use it again at least I have saved over a tenner on my purchases this visit, which was a saving in itself.
When I got to the till, the woman on there asked me if I wanted to open an account, I obviously agreed and she said that as I have opened one I could have 10% off all purchases that week, no matter how...

Never fear Debenhams is here...
Advantages: all you could want under one roof
Disadvantages: hard to find exits and gets crowded
...we finally made it home, in anticipation to try these new toys, we unwrapped all the boxes and the installation began. The television that we had bought was faulty and had to be returned. Then a few days later the DVD was jumping on certain discs. When we called the help desk we were given very different info that what we had been advised by the store. We contacted the electrical department who were very apologetic and offered a 10% discount. They resolved the DVD issue within 48 hours and the television was replaced once tested.
I have a store card. I was able to raise the limit within the store at the time that I made these large purchases. I am also offered discounts if I use the card in the restaurant .We are regularly sent invitations to preview sale events. I do feel that Debenhams has a lot to offer, and that they are quick to...

Debenhams Card - Current Member Of Staff
Advantages: First week 10% discount, and regular special offers/vouchers
Disadvantages: High APR - and pressure on staff to open accounts
...cost you 1.25% of your outstanding balance so £1.25 for every £100 on your card - again no balance: doesnt cost you a penny.
Standard Card/Mastercard
There are two types of card you can get when you apply for your card you will either be offered the mastercard (you can ask for this to be downgraded to the standard storecard straight away) or the standard storecard. What are the differences between the cards? The storecard can only be used in Debenhams stores wheras the mastercard can be used in any store and typically has a lower rate of APR - also with the mastercard everytime you use it you earn reward vouchers which you will be sent periodically depending on how often you use the card.
Benefits of having a card
You will get 10% off everything you buy in any Debenhams store for the first week of opening your card (you will recieve...

Debenhams Harrow
Advantages: One Store, Many Products
Disadvantages: Hm
...Debenhams
Station Road
Harrow
Middlesex
Postcode: HA1 1NA
Telephone: 020 8427 4300
This store is great. It provides nearly everything a person could need under the one roof! From cookware and home ware to clothing, perfumes and gifts you are sure to find what’s needed at and reasonable price. There is also the recent addition of designer clothing in store form people such as Jasper Conran. This store is pretty standard of most Debenhams stores air-conditioned, well lit and spotlessly clean. The staff are extremely helpful and always over eager to provide a good service. They offer many services to the clientele such as loyalty store cards and a wedding list scheme.
All products sold in the store have the unmistakable feel and look of quality and there is always a full refund if they are not to you liking. Quality comes...

Debenhams restaurant
Advantages: friendly, child-friendly
Disadvantages: can't think of any
...I want to specifically share my feelings about Debenhams Restuarant. I frequent the Plymouth Debenhams shop and, along with my husband and 2 1/2 year old daughter, regularly go to their restaurant on a Saturday morning.
I feel it has everything we need. Having a young daughter it is sometimes hard to find a place to have a coffee and a cake as well as find something that she will like.
They always seem to have an abundance of high chairs and even a little area with small chairs and a table for little ones to colour at.
You can get a choice of 5 items out of about 9 items to make up a child's snack box for £1.99. These include things such as two finger kitkat, juice, jars of baby foods, bread roll, cheese strings, etc. There are also bowls for babies available to use. You can also only buy one or two items from this...

Overpricing-Debenhams, Galway
Advantages: None
Disadvantages: Prices
...I am writing about the new debenhams store in Galway, Ireland.
In this case the Debenhams restaurant.
Exorbitant prices would be an understatement. On Friday last (27/07/2007), i was unfortunate enough to visit the restaurant with a friend and my son to have some lunch.
Imagine my surprise when i was asked for ?5.85 for a handful of potato salad and coleslaw to go along with my main course. The man beside me in the queue actually commented on the price also. The salads in Debenhams restaurants are apparently weighed.
Needless to say i didnt pay the money.
Then to add insult to injury we were told that we could have a free satchet of ketchup with every portion of chips but after that we must pay 25 cents each.
Do the management of Debenhams really think they are going to get away with this indefinitely???
The people of Galway will...
