...Yes, it's now time to move onto chocolate bars on my whirlwind tour of junk food that I'm eating this week in an attempt to pass the time! It's certainly one of, if not my absolute favourite chocolate bar out there...introducing Cadbury's Double Decker. To use the quote on the front of the bright purple and orange wrapper, (yes, it certainly stands out!) the bar is made up of "milk chocolate with smooth, chewy nougatine and crisp, crunchy cereal filling." Delicious! I'm sure a number of you can remember the rather odd advertising campaign for Double Decker's a number of year's back that included eccentric comedian Charlie Chuck on an old routemaster bus describing what exactly a Double Decker is. Advantages: Reliable, Trustworthy and High performance
Disadvantages: Doesn't vacum plaster dust well

...Cadburys Double Decker comes packaged in an orange and purple wrapper with serrated edges at both ends making it easier to open and get to your delicious chocolate bar. A double decker is Cadburys Milk Chocolate with smooth chewy nougatine and a crisp, cruncy cereal filling. The bottom layer is the crunchy cereal filling and then you have the top layer of nougatine, then the bar has been covered with delicious Cadburys chocolate. I think people have different ways of eating them, sometimes I like to remove the chocolate, then the nougatine and then crunch through the cereal and other times if I am desperate for my chocolate fix I like to just bite straight in and eat everything at the same time. ...Oh no - not more chocolate. That's how my stomach and head feel today - I am in serious need of some rigorous detoxification -but that can wait until later on this week. First I need to make room for a Cadburys Double Decker with Nuts. The original Double Decker was launched in 1976. Its name was allegedly derived from the British obsession with double decker buses in the 1970's (prompted no doubt by classic TV programmes such as "On the Buses" and the children's programme " Double Deckers"). The original Double Decker is two layered - the top layer is smooth nougatine and the bottom layer is crispy cereal. All this is wrapped in Cadburys milk chocolate. So after nearly 30 years of popularity, Cadburys decided to revive and update the Double Decker image by the February 2004 launch of Double Decker with Nuts. The tag line...

Black & Decker Pivot Vac - an excellent machine

Advantages: Easy to use, empty and maintain - does what it says, and does it well.
Disadvantages: I've not found any yet

...Black & Decker 1205B 12V Pivot Vac. £59.77 from Argos A small cordless vacuum cleaner. It lives in its charger/base, which can be screwed to the wall, but is small enough just to sit on the worktop (unlike other cordless vacs, it stands on its end, so takes up very little space). The base needs to be near a 13A socket, but it doesn't need to be plugged in all the time, as a full charge gives plenty of suck-time (I have not timed it). The instructions (as is Black & Decker norm) are detailed, easy to understand, and helpful. The rotating nozzle may seem like a gimmick, but it makes the device very good at vacuuming on high surfaces (e.g. cupboard tops) and low inaccesable spots. There are two speeds, but usually the lower one is fine. The spout is telescopic, and there is a little brush that can be clipped into the end...

...The Double Decker bar is a bit like a Rice Crispy. The bottom part is rice crispy and a thick layer of chewy, nougat on top, surrounded by Cadburys milk chocolate. On biting into the bar however you realise this bar has got something the others have not. I am not usually a fan of nougat but this is quite different, softer but chewy with a slightly nutty flavour, though not too strong. Well it is normally soft unless you?re like me and love cold chocolate ? which then makes the nougat harder and chewier?mmmm makes it even more scrumptious. Black and Decker: A sting in the tail

Advantages: cuts just about anything with minimum effort on your part
Disadvantages: poor design means the blade becomes loose

...Being a gadget lover I bought my black and decker scorpion about 5 years ago. At the time it was the only electic saw that I could find and I had a big DIY job to do at home. The saw itself comes with three blades; one for wood, one for metal pipes and plastics and a third somewhat flexible blade for use as a jigsaw. So this is really three saws in one. The blades can be changed by simply pressing a safety catch on the side, removing the old one and sloting in the new one. The metal and wood blades fit in one direction whilst the jigsaw blade fits in at a 90 degree angle for obvious reasons. To start the saw you need to press two buttons rather like you do with lawnmowers. Its a safety precaution to ensure it isn't set off accidently. Black and Decker Dry and Sometimes Wet Vac

Advantages: Easy to use, good suction, useful attachments
Disadvantages: No charging light, doesn't work on wet spills on absorbent surfaces

'Nuts' about double deckers

Advantages: New slant on an old favourite
Disadvantages: Can be sickening

...Having been a lifelong fan of double deckers, I wasn't sure they could get any better, until I stumbled upon something in the local garage that looked like a double decker, but with the addition of the words 'with nuts'. Straight away, I was curious and bought it to see if it made them any better or worse.. The wrapper is very similar to the other double deckers. The traditional orange and purple wrapper remains, just with the addition of the word 'nuts' on the wrapper in what I can describe as a peanuty colour. I'm still undecided. Double dekers, and new with nuts double deckers both have their own merits. However, the new one adds an interesting flavour to what can be a bland nougaty layer. To me they taste almost like topics though, which aren't one of my favourites. The peanuts tend to overkill the nougat slightly...
